What's his secret /fit/?
>>
hard work and dedication?
>>
>>35004326
no secret, just hard work, diet and discipline

all three together work wonders
>>
good genetics
>>
>>35004337
This, I really admire his dedication. For his role in The Machinist he ate nothing but a tuna can a day
>>
>>35004326
>Machinist to Batman Begins in 1 year

what the fuck
>>
>>35004337
pretty much, maybe steroids, how else could he go from 90 lbs to being as big as he was in batman begins without a supplement of some kind.
>>
>>35004347

and vitamin S sometimes
>>
>>35004380
well obviously steroids yeah, but you still gotta do shit even if you take them. They're not a complete godmode or anything
>>
>>35004326
He's an obsessive personality willing to do literally whatever it takes to prepare for a role. E.g., starving himself to near death, juicing up for Batman (bulked from 130 to 220 in a year, then cut to 195), eating to get fat and slob like if that is what a role calls for.

I'd say one of his greatest assets is his lack of self preservation. He just figures out what he has to do and commits to it 100%, whereas a lot of people half-ass it and get half-assed results, good or bad.
>>
>>35004326
If you were payed very well for getting a body like that you will put more effort
>>
hard work, dedication, and since this is literally his career he can prioritize weight loss/gain instead of worrying about other job responsibilities or hobbies
>>
>>35004385
for a chemically enhanced body he's doing something wrong.

Don't forget he doesn't work a 9 to 5 job, has a trainer, nutritionist and a massage therapist so a year isn't unreasonable when you have nothing else to do

I know people who spend 3 to four hours an evening on all the above and have had similar results without druggy shooting up
>>
>>35004352
I thought it was a can of tuna and an apple.
>>
>>35004402
Money motivates yes, but 99% of actors aren't willing, nor can they even if they tried, to go as hard as Bale
>>
I think the fact he was retraining helped him put on mass, wish I could cut like that though
>>
>>35004326

Based Christian "operator" Bale

Always think of him when I feel like fucking up my diet
>>
>>35004326
Sold his soul to the fit devil
>>
>>35004402
>If you were payed very well for getting a body like that you will put more effort

I don't know about that. There are a lot of people whose job is to be in fantastic shape who don't really commit to it even though they'd clearly be way more successful if they did. Roy Nelson and Shawn Jordan come to mind. Ronda Rousey is probably an even better example since she was being paid INSANE amounts of money by MMA standards and she still came into her fight with Holly looking really fat and with horrible endurance. It's not a perfect analogy since those people are trying to build a body to go vs. a body for show but their nutrition is obviously very imperfect and that's being kind.

TL;DR: Even though Christian has an enormous incentive to lose/gain weight for his roles, he deserves all the credit in the world for following through on it.

Yeah thats true. He is a lot crazier than most actors. Even so, getting into shape for their role is part of an actor's job just as much as memorizing lines. Still super impressive obv, but the dude talked about his daily routine in some interview and when hes not filming he kind of just hangs out and does sports n stuff.
>>
>>35004472
I heard something that from his shitty posture in American Hustle lost 3 inches for the role.
>>
>>35004347
And roids
>>
>>35004457
Nobody is saying its not super impressive, they're just pointing out that looking like his role is like half his job.

If you don't do the whole 'huge body morph' thing actors like him do you end up only being able to play one role. There are tons of actors who dont try as hard as him so they basically play the same character in every movie. Almost every sub 35 actor and comedy actor are like that.
>>
>>35004391
There was a study done passed around on /fit/ a lot a while back showing steroids make you more gains if you dont lift than lifting natty
Both was obviously best
>>
>>35004470
what about this guy?
>>
>>35004590
Roids give you gains even if you don't lift? Bullshit
>>

have you even done a cycle faggot

Study was later shown to be bullshit, please stop repeating this. Didn't make a distinction between "fat free mass" and "actual muscle mass" so what the roiders were gaining was basically water, plus extra salt and glycogen storage which means more water. Which goes away after you come off.

I thought it was coffee throughout the day, an apple and carrot sticks.

It sure as hell couldn't have been tuna. He's a vegan.

>Im currently thinking of doing the Christian Bale diet he used for The Machinist (2004), but with a few extra calories. He dropped 62 pounds in 4 months I believe.
>One can of tuna and an apple a day, with a few black coffee's. Thats what he had.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0361862/trivia

>The producers of the film claim that Christian Bale dropped from about 173 pounds in weight down to about 110 pounds in weight to make this film. They also claim that Bale actually wanted to drop down to 100 pounds, but that they would not let him go below 120 out of fear that his health could be in too much danger if he did. His diet consisted of one can of tuna and an apple per day. His 63-pound weight loss is said to be a record for any actor for a movie role. He regained the weight in time for his role in Batman Begins (2005).

Maybe this is a le meme, but isn't it easier to regain muscle mass that was lost before than gaining it for the first time?

http://www.ecorazzi.com/2009/05/19/christian-bale-dropped-being-vegetarian-after-seeing-life-is-beautiful/

>I was up in Toronto and went to see that movie Life Is Beautiful. By myself. And when I came out, I had a craving for blood unlike anything I had ever experienced since I decided to go vegetarian at the age of 7. It was a compulsion. It was undeniable. I went to several restaurants, one right after the other, and got the biggest, bloodiest steaks I could get my hands on. It was the first time I had tasted flesh in almost twenty years.
>>
>>35005013
Based Bale.
>>
>>35004695
Nope. It was in a science journal, so not bullshit.
>HNGGGG I'M A RETARD WHO DOESN'T BELIEVE IN SCIENCE
Get the fuck out
>>
>>35004326
nothing beats that Batman Begins body
>>
>>35004326
Hard work, diet and dedication are all true, but what people choose to neglect is that he also used steroids
>inb4 sauce
It's well known that actors have better access to steroids than athletes, that they do not compete in any sport, and that authorities like to look the other way when it comes to famous people.
>>
>>35004740
he has a hedge maze for abs
