My physical therapist had me do one legged deads for hip and glute strength. It's not exactly like a deadlift. You would hold a dumbbell in your left hand, then lower the weight to your opposite foot. Then do the same on the other side. Great for people that have trouble activating their glutes.

I do them as a prehab for glute activation with dumbbells or a kettlebell. Works wonders for hip extension, hamstring and glute activation. Try it with a med ball or something.
