I make a conscious effort to avoid leaving my bottom teeth behind top, but that's just a personal thing. I keep my lips together and my teeth in line with my tongue on the roof of my mouth. My jaw and chin developed relatively weakly, so I'm doing what I can (chewing gum, fixing facial posture) to mitigate the damage of clenching my jaw so much as a kid and make some jaw gains.
