/SIG/ Self Improvement General.

NEW STICKY http://4chanfit.wikia.com/wiki//sig/_sticky

How have you improved yourself this week/month/year? Lifting isn't life, a well-balanced human being is productive, has hobbies, pushes him/herself to succeed, is charismatic, and strives to live the best life they can. Share your successes, failures, methods, and everything in between.

The sticky is divided like so:
>Recommended Readings.
>Some tips to get your life back on track.
>Study and Career.
>To-do list habit.rpg (If you’re TOTALLY Lost. Start with this one)
>Focus and meditation
>Finance

Basic Recommendations:
>Have a productivity Framework that is flexible. A mindset that gets you going.
>Use a calendar, like google calendar. Hours and shit for things YOU WILL DO.
>Learn to focus.
>Meditate.
>Do routines for things you should do periodically/daily, this should cover daily things or weekly chores such as laundry, cleaning, shopping.
>Identify and Eliminate conflicts within yourself.
>Focus on identifying the time wasters in your life and eliminate them.
>Focus on the essentials. If you try to do everything at once you’ll burnout. Little by little.

>There is no central authority for the /SIG/, everyone could copy, modify and upload the info here in a latter post.
>To future curators of the /SIG/. Stray away from PUA, and avoid Fedora stuff please.
>If you try monetizing with this, I’ll cut you.

Material reading can be tricky. There will be trash here and there as we're not /lit/.

But we have to trust others.
Image related has a detailed list that an Annon provided on a thread a while back. If you got time to kill, click on the image, and read the descriptions

As time goes, the /SIG/ has had a couple of books recommended. I’ve done my best to try to get talks of the authors of such books so you can get a ‘piece’ before you commit.

Google a bit about the book, if you think you can get something out of it, watch the talk.
In my opinion, try getting the books “for free”.
If you read it and get something out of it, consider paying for the book.

>Freedom is having control of your life

You should at least have 3 hobbies/activities.
-One that will pay the bills, gets food on your table
-One that will keep you in shape. (lower you faggot)
-One that you're passionate about and might be able to develop into a career.
--------

If you're into lifting, taking the tips to better yourself should be simple; as you already have built some self-discipline.

Make peace with yourself and the way things are right now.
Stop thinking the world owes you, how destiny ‘fucked you over’, how those guys have it easier.
Accept things as they are, realize that life is cruel and your circumstances are the ones you were given. You can’t do shit about the starting point, but you can move forward.

Don’t focus in what was given to you, focus in what you’ll achieve.

Eliminate the things you dislike about yourself, about your life. Is as simple as, do you enjoy your job? No? Take steps to change the feeling.
How are you gonna make that? You either make your job more enjoyable, or you change jobs. Simple.
You want a girl? how do you plan to achieve that? Are you too socially inept? Work on that.
Are you piss poor and can’t afford a decent living? Work on that too.

No matter who you are, where you are in your life, or how fucked up you think you are.
You can improve your life. Take control. Move forward.
Dreams keeps us alive, fighting for them makes us feel alive.
About 5-7 years ago, I was a fucking train-wreck.
Right now, I'm doing fairly well.

Get some discipline, set some goals and a way to achieve them.
Cultivate yourself, learn stuff, get your shit together.

And realize, understand. None is coming to save you.
You got to make your way through.
You NEED to take CONTROL.

If you're still in School. For fuck sake pay attention.

MORE than half of actually doing good in school is attending, the other half is paying attention in class. So then do it.
Or stop it altogether.
If you’re in college and you’re not feeling it, take a semester to think things through.
If you’re in high school, don’t think YOU NEED to enter college to be successful. There are other ways…
Google just started hiring people who never went to college.
WATCH this talk:
http://youtu.be/iG9CE55wbtY [Embed]

Some learning resources, focusing in code since I’m an ‘IT’ guy:
>duolingo.com
First and foremost. Free language learning tool with a really robust app. THIS IS A MUST. Learning a new language will help you out no matter who you are.
>codeacademy.com
Teaches you the basics, from the ground up.
>codeschool.com/
Similar to codeacademy.
>youtube.com/user/thenewboston
Personal favorite. This guy step by step, learns a shit-ton of programing languages. Give this a check and start watching something you’re interested in.
>codeeval.com
This one I really like, once you get your shit going, it puts you ‘objectives’ to solve through code, last batch are really complex.
>coursera.org
It’s a really nice online-course platform. There are really good things here as well.
>openprocessing.org / processing.org / codepen.io
These sites display some really cool stuff, where you can also check the source code and modify it to see what happens.

As for career options.
Choose anything you want, If you want to go into Philosophy or Social studies, That's fucking great. As long as you’re passionate about it, you’ll find a way.
You can always become a teacher or a writer.

BUT BE FUCKING AWARE THAT YOU WILL HAVE A HARD TIME MAKING MONEY. Don't get a loan to study shit that will be expensive to repay.

Other than that, don't enter into something soulless just because 'I'll get money'.
You only got one fucking life, don’t waste it doing something you hate.

You must have a to-do list, it's pretty essential.
As for which, there are several options
Google Keep, Evernote or whatever suits you.

But currently I suggest you use:
https://habitrpg.com/
There’s even a /fit/ guild created to keep us in check.
https://habitrpg.com/#/options/groups/guilds/eeb30614-2936-4f1c-9713-117248d10149

It’s certainly geeky as fuck. But Gamification has been proven to work when applied to certain aspects of human psyche. Helps you stay in check and keeping your eyes on the trophy.

Stupid trivial things I used to do, I stopped once I placed them as ‘Bad habits’.
It also has a mobile app, while it’s a bit limited and on construction, it is free.

There are three main categories.
>Habits. These are things you do by impulse, not under a schedule. Can be good or bad.

+Go for a jog
+Sleep early/on time Sun-Thu
+Walk the dog
+Go for a ride
+Cook something new
+Go out and socialize
+Spend time at the shelter

-Smoke
-Drink soda
-Drink beers
-Eat Junk/Dirty bulk
-Stay up late Sun-Thu
-Fap [?]
-Play 1.5+ Hours vidya a day
-Shitpost

>Dailies are things you ALWAYS do. Every day or certain days of the week. Planned, they are only good.

+Lift (m - w - f)
+Eat your macros(daily)
+Buy Groceries (Sa)
+Read 30 min (daily)
+Practice the Guitar 30 Min(daily)
+Study Video Editing 40 Min (daily)
+Cook (We, Sa)
+Do your daily points in duolingo

>To-Do are, well, things you must do. You can have a checklist within one To-Do.

()Fix the shelf
()Go to the post office and send the package
()Buy the ticket to the concert
()Pay the landlord
()Organize my trip to the moon
—()Get the rocket tickets
—()Get the reservation for the moon Hostel
—()Buy some moonars to have some local money
—()Buy a map of moon city

Seeing the numbers go up (or health go down) is a weird sort of motivation. I can vouch for it. Give it a try, if you have no idea where to start, This is a good one.

Fill your bad habits, put the to-do’s and take it from there.

Meditation and focus is still under construction.
So is Finance for that matter.

But, For finance, there are some tips and tricks from FinanceBrah:
-----
To get started, you obviously need to get an income sorted, now, there are 2 main ways to make money, work for somebody else, or earn money yourself.

Working for somebody else is self explanatory, you go out and get a job, busting your balls, normally for peanuts if you don't have a great career, and doing that day after day, year after year. Is this always a bad thing? No, most people start here in fact, it tends to be a good, at least consistent way to make money. People do it there whole lives, and that's up to them.

BUT SHIT FINANCEBRAH, I DON'T WANT TO BE BUSTING MY BALLS TO MAKE SOMEONE ELSE A LOAD OF MONEY, I hear you say.

Earning money for yourself.

Again, there are two ways to do this. Firstly, is ACTIVELY earning it, creating a business, that you work at and it provides you with profit, and PASSIVELY earning it, meaning you put money you already have to work.

I can't possible cover off every single way to actively make money in 1 post, but if it interests you, look into it. You can start an online business while you already have a job, if you still want the security. You can start a side gig on the weekends, you can import and sell at markets or online. You can jack it all in, and start a physical business (please don't do that without serious thought) Actively earning money is one of the most rewarding things you can do, IMHO

>Earning online

>Low start up cost businesses/part time
http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/201588

There are hundreds of articles out there, have a look, see what you think, and do your research.

1425176923363.jpg
944KB, 1345x1450px
BUT SHIT FINANCEBRAH, NOW I'M EARNING ALL THIS MONEY, WHAT DO I DO WITH IT, SHOULD I BUY A FERRARI?

You save it, live within your means, don't go into high interest debt, keep your expenses as low as possible, the more you save, the more you can put to work, and the more you can earn without lifting a finger.
Passively earning money.
I like to call this putting your money to work for you, money you saved, investing it, and getting a return on it.

I CAN MAKE MONEY WITHOUT WORKING FINANCEBRAH? ARE YOU FOR REAL.

Yes. This is how most people become wealthy, saving money, and getting a big return on it. But how do you do that? Again, there are hundreds of ways. As a general rule, the higher the risk, the higher the reward. What you invest in depends on your investment strategy, including what return you want, and what risk you're willing to take.

http://www.wikihow.com/Create-an-Investment-Plan

Read it and create one, it should tie in to your long term goals.
Again, too many different kind of investments to cover in one post, here is a good overview of them.
http://www.investopedia.com/university/20_investments/

This is the risk order:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Risk%E2%80%93return_spectrum

I personally prefer Real estate, forex trading, and stocks. There is so much information out there, I can just encourage you to read and learn as much as possible. See what suits your life and where you live.

FINANCEBRAHS RULES ON HOW TO BE FINANCIALLY SMART

>PAYING OFF HIGH INTEREST DEBT IS THE BEST FORM OF SAVING THERE IS, payday loans first, credit cards, ect.
>NEVER GO INTO DEBT TO BUY THINGS THAT DEPRECIATE, IF YOU CAN MANAGE IT
>LIVE WITHIN YOUR MEANS. THE BRAND NAME BAKED BEANS COME AFTER ALL THE HARD WORK
>AVOID ALL LATE PENALITIES ON DEBT
>BUDGET WISELY

and the most important one.
TRY AND SAVE SOMETHING EVERY PAY PERIOD. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF ITS $1, SET A GOAL OF HOW MUCH YOU WANT TO SAVE AND FUCKING HIT IT, PUT IT INTO AN ACCOUNT TO BE USED ONLY FOR INVESTING.

Haha, delete that post and ask again and I'll tell you :p

I'm really stuck in my life and don't know how to change it.

I'm 24 and now in the 5th semester of a Geodesy and Land survey degree. Problem is that I lost all desire in the topic and I'm having problems to keep up with some of the subjects (math related). So at this point I'm not sure if I should quit or continue because I already invested so much time into it.
The situation is almost paralysing, shit times.
>>
Olay financebrah, get a little more in depth as to how you started making good money...

I've got a couple of friends who have a similar degree. From what they tell me, the job is a whole lot different and more fun than the degree. But if you really want to change, then go for it. 5 Semesters is a short amount of time to be comparatively unhappy for the rest of your life.

What's your job, Financebrah?
>>
>>31282505

After I left school, I decided to work a job just to get by, for minimum wage. I used to start at 8am, and finish at 6pm, and worked a 2 hour drive from my house. I was busting my fucking ass, and not getting much out of it, but it taught me a work ethic, and it also taught me what i didnt want to do with the rest of my life. Probably the best job I ever had in that regard. But while I worked it, I was reading, learning, trying to hang around people who had what i wanted.

I saved up about 1000 bucks, and one day, a deal popped up, 2 tailored suits, ties and shirts for $1000. I'd just seen the movie Crazy Stupid Love, so I decided to go for it. Got one made like pic related, and one in investment banker grey as my mom called it haha. Anyways, my burgandy suit made me feel like I could do anything, it was my "power suit". That shit really does exist and help btw. Get a good fucking suit made.

But anyway, I started to get really interested in property, and I knew the market in Auckland, NZ, where i was living, was going through the roof, and i decided I had to get in on it. The bank wouldn't give me a mortgage, because I needed a 20% deposit. So I searched, and found an investor, put on my power suit, and went to ask him for 350k, to buy a house and flip it. Long story short, I bought for 320k, spend 20k on it, repainted the whole thing, new kitchen, new bathroom, built a huge new deck on it, did all the work myself pretty much, working 16-20 hour days, 7 days a week, and in 4 months, it was finished, and I sold it for $520k, and I paid the investor 20% on his money over the 4 months we agreed upon, and that it.

Thats how I made over 100k in 4 months. Now I've had some investments since then, just cashed them all in to spend ~ $300k buying a business in the USA to move there.
>>
>>31282630

I don't have one, I hate working for other people :p

>>31282570

What interests do you have? What would make you happy doing everyday for the next 40 years?
>>
>>31282639
Dealing with that much money would make me so fucking nervous.
How exactly did you find the investor?
>>
>>31282703

Yeah, I'd been researching for a few months, I knew what would happen, and what the risks were, but fuck it, I saw an opportunity to change my life and I took it.

I'm a Freemason, and he was a fellow mason I met through an acquaintance at the lodge.

Please don't start asking me conspiracy theory shit.
>>
>>31282737

>>
>>31282639

other than that:
> epainted the whole thing, new kitchen, new bathroom, built a huge new deck on it, did all the work myself pretty much

is like the dream for me, (as the person who ranted about CREATING THINGS for life satisfaction). i did a similar thing with my friend's apartment in exchange for rent, but not on the same scale.
>>
>>31282703
be careful anon with "investing"

it is, in essence, gambling, and ultimately everyone loses at gambling.

something like flipping a house in an area which was consistently going up in price and with no ambiguous economic indicators was a very safe investment. but my advice is to ignore all that internet crap about "INVEST IN GOLD, LEARN THESE ECONOMIC TRICKS, MAKE 10K A MONTH, LEARN HOW TO WIN AT THE STOCK MARKET" all of this is absolute bollocks, there's no quick wins, not without being in the absolute right place at the right time and getting a bit lucky.
>>
>>31282752
Borrowed 350k, spent 320k on purchasing it.

My favorite part was building the new deck, it went from a 6x6 feet deck, to a 20 by 15 L shaped wraparound deck. It was fucking great. My old man helped me, and we just googled how to build one and set to it. Realtor said it added probably 25k to the value, for 2k spent and a few days hard work.

Take a break. Are you able to do that?
That a full semester and travel a bit. Crash with some relatives or friends that live far away (and they'll have you no questions asked), tell them you'll work or something.

Ask for help to the people close to you. Open up and say you need to take a semester off to think things through.

Personally? Yeah. Finish it.

Don't let an inferiority complex paralyze you.
>>
>>31283183
Yep, a lot of the social problems are autonomic responses, they're essentially phobias. If you have lonely socially rejected childhood time you feel anxious in social situations (like being bitten by a dog as a kid or something, and then becoming scared of dogs), and then you avoid it, and you never learn how to do it successfully and that just leads to more failure.

Attend lots of local church groups. Srs. They're begging for new people and it gives you a chance to at least practice talking about yourself and asking about others.

I've recently started doing it and it's based as fuck. Admittedly a ton of the people are 40+ but there are usual some young people there.

It's an easy place to start as well as it's not socially intimidating at all compared to a bar or club or something, so you can build up your confidence slowly

With what shekels bro? Seems like moving out before getting fulltime job after graduating is basically just living poor as fuck unless you're talented enough to be able to do something better than minimum wage.

Everyone I've met who has moved before or around 20 is working 9-5 in terrible job with horrible conditions and pretty much financially fucked with no hope of getting out of the rut. If I knew I had to work some shite minimum wage job until I was 40, or even for the rest of my life I would just kill myself. Yet that's people's reality everyday.

Best advice you're gonna get on the matter.
I always had a troubled relationship with my family, especially with my mother. Since moving out we get along great, have fantastic conversations and understand each other better.

Also, moving out is just a big, and important step to becoming a better person, do it as soon as you can, it just helps with everything.

20 year old here with no post-secondary education, my family are crazy drug addicts so I saved up a few thousand bucks, moved to a new city, got on welfare and started looking for a job. Welfare isn't enough to cover my room, buspass, food and gym membership and I still haven't even had a single fucking job interview so my savings are slowly depleting. I don't know what the fuck to do, if I don't find full time work soon I'm gonna run out of money and have to quit the gym and cut back on food and watch my year of gains slowly drain away. Thinking of going to college so I can take out loans to survive and get a job afterwards but I have no idea what I want to do plus I did shit in highschool so I don't think I'd be accepted into anything that'd be worth the debt. What am I to do, /SIG/?

I know your feel bro, my family just isn't crazy drug addicts but basically same thing except I'm still living with them.

I guess you should take out loans and go to college, it's probably your best bet. Just go to community college because in terms of money/effort investment compared to how much more you'll earn it's significant. You could even transfer to a 4 year college later.

Maybe I just need a gay sugardaddy to fund my college.
>>
>>31283540

In Germany you either get money from the state for studying, or, if your parents have a somewhat high income, they have to pay for your living costs (give you 750 bucks a month or sth). If you're not living at home that is.

>Man everyone I know who is lucky enough to get their parents to pay for school is ambition-less and gets a shitty major
You have no Idea how worse it can get. I went to a private high school(through state funding) and had classmates who when thinking about where they would like to study listed where their parents owned how many houses. They also did not take _ANY_ resposibilites for their grades, blaming their parents that they didn't give them more private tutors and similar stuff and didn't consider it their fault they were always 3 hours late to school, because obsivouly, their driver screwed up. My parents meanwhile struggled to support themselves and I lived of chicken and rice.

So seeing I am young, motivated, passionate, in college and already have a job in my field (IT) and want to make the world a better place, for my future children and my community, does that help me get in?

How do I apply? They have a website for my country's branch, but I can't find anywhere on how to apply, guess you got to ask a mason to recommend you?
>>
>>31284103

What country are you in?

If you talk to the secretary of your local lodge, they will be able to help you.

* Be a man who comes of his own free will
* Believe in a Supreme Being (the form of which is left to open interpretation by the candidate)
* Be at least the minimum age (from 18-25 years old depending on the jurisdiction)
* Be of good morals, and of good reputation
* Be of sound mind and body
* Be capable of furnishing character references, as well as one or two references from current Masons, depending on jurisdiction

Those are generally the criteria, don't worry about the last one, you can talk to the secretary about that.

> get real fat, real fast
> finally reach breaking point, have moment of clarity
> decide to do something drastic, start putting in applications for overseas security contracting
> get hired

> start lifting hard for the first time in years
> overhaul my diet

Idk, nothing too special, but I guess it's interesting to go from what feels like rock-bottom to one of the high points of my adult life.

Quote from a Sam Sheridan book:

Just buy all the top rated books on Amazon, pretty much what I did.

It's all much the same, it isn't like stocks and forex where there are umpteen different strategies, there are maybe 8 or 10 in property, and all the books tend to cover the same thing.

Just get 5 or 10 and you should be set, but ultimately, the best experience comes from watching the local market

Even easier if you're in Canada.

Just chuck it all into a tangerine index fund.

Google tangerine and look into their investment funds. It has a higher MER than TD eseries but if you know absolutely nothing and don't care about learning then this would be the 1 stop solution for you. Even most people who DO know/care about learning would benefit from it.
>>
>>31285686

Investopedia is a good place to start. I personally like Vanguard, google Vanguard Canada, and call them and tell them, they'll set you up an account, and you just put money in and watch it grow really.

You essentially put your money into a huge pool, vanguard currently manages assets in excess of a trillion dollars. There are lots of different kind of fund types, all with different investment aims and holdings, heres a list

>>31285734
>if you know absolutely nothing and don't care about learning

i find that mindset will make me lose out big time. im down to put some time into learning how things work to get the most out of this. ill check out tangerine but if i already have an account with TD wouldnt it be easier to go with them?
>>
>>31285783

Easier yes, you'd have to look at what all the funds return, and the fee's and stuff, and decide what you want.

Yeah, at least read up on it all, don't just go into it blindly, that's silly advice. you can loose money and miss out on bigger gains like that.
>>
>>31285742
What do people classify as those days? Because I find that watching movies to broaden your knowledge can be beneficial, since it makes it easier to find common interests with people, and you just become a more cultural being, assuming that you don't want solely action movies and comedies.

Same goes with TV shows and most books, imo.
>>
>>31285783
If you want to. You'd have to set it up yourself then. Canadian finance blogs call Tangerine index funds "The one fund solution" however. And it's been said about 80% of people would benefit from it over whatever they're doing.

Have a read through this. Perfect starting point for you.

http://canadiancouchpotato.com/2013/09/12/the-one-fund-solution/

>the average client of a mutual fund advisor in Canada has an account between $64,000 and $75,000. What percentage do you think have globally diversified, regularly rebalanced portfolios that cost less than 1.07%? And if those investors are paying a 1% trailer fee, how many are receiving good advice? I’d suggest at least three out of four would be better off simply socking away money in a Tangerine Investment Fund.

Just stop calling it the weekend, or get a job that forces you to work saturday and sunday, the idea of a weekend quickly leaves your mind

financebrah you were depressed once. was working hard and becoming successful worth it?
there's a lot of times when I just want to say fuck it and eat a shotgun shell. all of this is absolutely meaningless.

nothing gives me pleasure or happiness. i just want to not feel like shit.
>>
>>31285678
I was thinking about self-improvement, but open to suggestions.

if i go into a bank and ask them about it what are the chances that ill get screwed?

I tried ODing once, obviously fucked something up, and I'm still here haha.

Looking back though, I still get a little depressed from time to time, but when i do i just reflect on how far I've come and it gets me through the rough days.

It took a while for anything to make me happy, but it does get better anon, trust me, and it really is worth it, you have so much life left to live.

But is it worth it? When i'm driving a 3 ton truck 100mph down a back road, with Born to Run playing full pelt, with my girl next to me, on the way do something stupid no doubt. You fucking bet it was bro.

Pic very much related, we're all gonna make it anon.
>>
>>31286442

Eh not bad if you speak to a personal banker. If you want to turn it into a hobby, go right ahead and open up a trading account with someone! If you don't mind maybe losing a bit, or not getting the best return, I'd 100% encourage you to do that.
>>
>>31286385
I think I know how to help you, would you mind giving me some info about your financial situation, like how much you have saved and how much you earn?

Also, where do you live? I mean this on a smaller scale though, suburbs, countryside, whatever.

>>31286387
Well, any knowledge can be counted as self-improvement, so I think you can pick mostly any e-book, which are covered in the sticky. I've listened to some of "Hello, Internet!", CGPGrey's podcast, which is interesting, but doesn't require a large amount of concentration to follow.

Suburbs. Without getting too specific I'm in one of the cities of North Carolina.

I know, there was a time when that all sounded like shit to me as well. Tbh, I don't even know how i fixed it, its almost like I decided one day not to be depressed, and I was going to put my energy into something productive.

I've tried to change constantly for the past few years, but everytime I slip back into my old habits. Once this low depressive streak ends I'll probably gather my things and try again. But shit. What's the point. It's not that I want to die. I just want to fall asleep and never wake up.

Eh, better than being a duke fan.

You've just gotta find something that makes living worth while. We all find solace in different things, I found it in what I mentioned before, you might find it in something completely different. Your state is fucking beautiful though, on a side note. Just keep a journal noting the small steps you've taken each day, and they soon become giant leaps, and you can see yourself going backwards and stop it before it gets too late.

If you are staying afloat with your studies at the moment, you still have a chance. I actually almost flunked out of the place in which I study last May.

I've seen a couple of things help out here - someone I talked to on /mlp/ once said that he felt a sort of rush (non-sexual) while riding horses, a sort of feeling of complete freedom. I've gotten the same by going to abandoned buildings or walking alone at night, which works much better if there are no lights around. Try a couple of things like that, they often help you find something to look forward to. (Using HabitRPG?)

Another important thing is to have someone you can talk to. Write an e-mail to someone anonymously - be it a random person online or a friend you'd like to know better. I'd suggest starting with something like random obscure music suggestions and general topics that most people could talk about. If you really don't have anyone to talk to, I think that I know someone who would certainly respond and give you something to think about.

Maybe you could try out a movie challenge, which is something I did last year. Try to watch a movie per day, logging your ratings on imdb or whatever, just to know more about random movies. It also gives something to look forward, and if you care, I could post some suggestions.

For general tips, I guess that you should stick with something that you know. If your previous work doesn't affect it, rip ideas out of what you've written before.

I'm considering taking they walks and looking for a pen pal of sort to hear me out. I feel as though we as humans are social creatures and we that connect with each other if we want live healthy prosperous lives. But for certain hard cases like my own, who are practically emitting insecurity, it's a takes a great deal to interact with others. I feel like with all of this social anxiety, angst emotions just build up and they need to be let out or something tragic could happen.

I truly wish no one could live thier lives feeling the way me and other unfortunate people who suffer from social anxiety do. it's a terrifying prison. it would be awesome if you could post more suggestions that'll help me clear my head of such negativity. I guarantee debt is being hidden somewhere, or ownership is divided, or something illegal is on the balance sheet. Read the books at least 5 times, or get a good accountant.
But assuming everything is ideal. 9-6 work, 6 days a week, 50 weeks, 48 shekels/hour for 130k, or 66 shekels/hour for 180k.
Ownership means you take ALL the net profit, but obviously you wouldn't do that since shit happens and backup money is needed.
>>
>>31290750

>>31290814
I know and i've been hella procrastinating it. But on the otherhand for the gym to make a significant dent in my money it would take way over a year(that would only be like ~$500 even then). Shouldn't I just start gym again and eventually find a job?

That's real hard to improve. People mainly go to the sole prop because of him. When he leaves, so will his clients. Unless he is the only guy who can do that 1 service/sale (which usually isn't the case in a city), you aren't going to start with a clientbase. Plus, finding a guy as skilled as the previous owner is going to be a real bitch.

I know a couple of dudes that own them back home. I've seen a similar sized shop in the same city doing 500k rev with 200k net profit, so i know its possible size wise. It's essentially about how many bays you have, and how full you can keep them. I'm basing the growth on the growth of the area that its in, retaining existing customers, and advertising for new ones, something which the current owner has never done.

It sounds like you're suffering from perfectionist thinking. You need to convince yourself that it's okay not to be perfect. Obviously don't fall into the tumblr mindset of "I'm perfect no matter how fat/selfish/arrogant I am," but reflect on how much you've improved your body, rather than comparing yourself to the juicers and superswoles. Tell yourself, and keep telling yourself even if it's hard to accept at first, that you're strong and athletic and keep improving as an athlete and as a person. Maybe do some strongman stunts like twisting a horseshoe or bending steel rods (in the interest of safety start with thinner ones), and don't be shy about doing it somewhere that people can watch and see how awesome you are.

Financebrah, my trusty friend.

Can you explain what virginfags should do(i'm sure would help a lot of people).

How do we get laid? Should we leave humanity, as well as mortal needs like sex behind?

I feel like once you get past about 18 years old you can no longer lose virginity in a non-awkward manner. How would you possibly tell a gril you're a virgin unless lie to her and just do it as you go along
>>
>>31292208

I lost mine was I was almost 18, but that was to a girlfriend, so she knew I was a virgin.

If you want to lose it to a random, I'd just avoid bringing it up, most people will assume you aren't one if you're having sex with someone outside a relationship, and as long as you know how to fuck, then you should be fine.

As far as being in a position to get laid, you've gotta step them social gains up anon!
>>
>>31292208
i'm 20
i lost my v card a few months ago

i don't know if she could tell, 75% she couldn't

Hello guys

Moving to Oakland CA in two weeks, around the Lake Merritt area. What gym is the best in the neighborhood? I'd go to God's Gym but I'm not black and the 24 hour fitness in Berkeley has always been shit, no dead lift area no real weightlifting area so i assume the Oakland one isn't much better. Most of the gyms seems to be fucking yoga or pillates studios so someone help me out here? Thanks
>>
>He's a Freemason.

Well that explains a lot. I meet all the criteria mentioned in >>31284150 except for one - belief in a supreme being. Idk man, does evolution count? I'd really like to get in as well, they do some awesome shit. There's a lodge literally right across the street from my college and I just sigh and look at it every day, knowing I don't fit that one criteria, and that bars off so many dreams for me. Here's why I believe they should let me in regardless, greentexted for your convenience:

> Human service major, with plans to be a humble therapist.
Sounds simple, but not really. It requires a complete understanding of the human mind, and even worse, what can go wrong with it. Supreme patience because you'll be working with disordered individuals all day. And instead of being some Grand Leader, I'll be saving the world in the background, one individual at a time.
> Current GPA (this semester, so far) of 4.0.
> Active in a club...
Yeah just one but it's one that makes a huge difference in our school.
> Grew up in an abusive home, but turned out nothing like my parents and am going on strong through only the sheer strength of my will.
> All without Jesus.

Being atheist is kind of depressing, but I feel that belief in a higher power is just an excuse. An excuse humans make up because they can't deal with just how vast and dark the Universe really is, a vast cold hostile wasteland 14 billion years old, cannot come to terms with how small the Earth is in comparison. But it's this huge inner strength that allows me to carry this information in my head and my heart and keep moving forward regardless. I can face the darkness head-on with no Higher Power on my side. There are no voids in my heart that God needs to fill.

Huh, nevermind. Maybe I don't need the Masons after all?
>>
>>31292460
lol we'll both be old men by that point.

Idk i'm honestly pretty disgusted by women in recent times, they're all so evil and manipulative. I have a phobia of women draining my ballsack and impregnating themselves and shit like that.

I just read a story on reddit about some senior in highschool who had perfect GPA and got accepted for scholorships then some feminist made up a lie about him and he got expelled and denied college. And that's just the most recent story I've heard about, I can't stand how evil these people are i wish i was just gay or asexual i never asked for this struggle

>>31292480
>no deadlift area

who cares bruh just deadlift on the carpeted area. Just check out all the gyms near you btw, take a tour because sometimes even the shittest planet fitness gym has power racks and stuff.

Srsly I was looking at some gyms and this one chain has no racks or anything in 90% of their gyms but then one has like 4 power racks and it costs less than most gyms and doesn't even have people who lift. So free power racks at all hours.

The supreme being can be anything, mother nature, the pasta monster, anything like that, nobody will ever question you about what you believe in, it's against the rules of a lodge to discuss religion. If they ask, you just say yes, and that's that. My dad professes a belief in mother nature as his supreme being.

The Freemasons really has 3 aspects to it, the Charitable, where you obviously do charity work and give grants and such, the spiritual, which helps enlighten you, and the social, where you eat and drink whiskey and beer. Go and talk to someone from the lodge, you might enjoy it.

>I'll give you some tips to make her panties explode

anotheranon here, i have a girl
give me those panty exploding tips
>>
>>31292702

DISCLAIMER: Every girl is different, this is just what I've found to work the majority of the time.

>Send them subtly little hints of what you're going to do to them that night
>If you really want to make her come a lot, do all the girly romantic shit, some nice candles and stuff, and give her a massage
>let your hands just glide over her sensitive parts, gradually getting a little harder each time, while still giving her a massage

Now at this point, one of two things will happen, she will be wet as fuck, and try and jump on you, or she will be wet as fuck, and be a good patient little girl.

>Slowly turn the massages into kisses, again lightly kissing her downstairs, but still all over her body.
>Tell her to put her hands behind her head and no touching
>Kiss right on her clit, and turn it to a suck, and watch her moan, then go to town if you're good at oral.
>Otherwise, my favorite position to make her come with my finger, is to lie on my back, with her on her back ontop of me, both face up, so my arms can reach around, 1 can play with the clit, and one can slide in and out.
>Make her come a couple of times
>Flip her over and fuck her doggy, making her come again, and making you come
>???
>profit.

Thats the basics of it, and what i do the majority of the time, sometimes she sits on my face, or gives me a blowie, or whatever. Sometimes I tie her up and blindfold her. I just fucking love making her come though haha

Meditation is definitely worth it. But I don't think you should see it as an addition to life. Samadhi means firmness or non-wavering of the mind, which needn't be too complicated. It just means that the mind is able to maintain alertness and attention. If you're restless then accept it, observe it, and just let it settle down. It's like taking a pot of boiling water off the stove and letting it cool.

Meditation is nothing you can't do daily. As the famed Ajahn Chah once said, if you have time to breathe, you have time to meditate. In other words, you can make every waking moment a moment of clarity and stillness. You won't necessarily be able to dwell in a deep meditative state, but you can still be focused and alert.

I think most if not all 4channers could use some meditation. There's a lot of restless and heedless posting that goes on.

>Protip: If you want your mind to be calm and clear, refrain from indulging in behavior that hinders that calmness and clarity such as trolling.
>>
>>31292832
By addition to life, I mean as an "extra" thing, a side-hobby or whatever. That's not an effective mindset.

Financebrah, I applied to my local lodge and I was told back in December or something that they'll be in contact "in due course." I'm so eager to try to out, they have sorta like a university program here in the UK so for my local lodge (Birmingham) I thought it'd be somewhat more clear cut, it's the unknown that's getting to me. Any advice?
>>
>>31285737
is there anything like this in S C O T L A N D
>>
>>31293014

Hahaha, yeah I've had a bit of practice at it now. Also, Buy a vibrator, Easiest orgasm you'll ever make her have,

>>31293062

How did you apply to them? Find the lodge secretaries number and give them a call. It might be a while because if the lodge only meets once a month, they can only initiate one or two people a month, so there might be a backlog. But give him a call for sure, just to check.
>>
>>31293110

Yes sir, they will probably be under British ones, just search British mutual funds and have a peruse.
>>
>>31293118
I sent in an application last summer, it was while I was travelling so I didn't think about it and I put agnostic on the app. I realised why they weren't responding, so I emailed the secretary in November to assure her that I do believe in a higher power, just that I don't believe we will ever have proof, and she responded saying she'll pass it on and I should get a response soon. I did get s response a week later from the grand porter (or something along those lines, apologies since I can't remember the titles) and he said he's acknowledged my application and will be in contact in due course.
>>
>>31293197

No problem on the titles. What kind of lodge is it, is it under the United Grand Lodge of England?
>>
>>31293207
I'm not sure what type of lodge it is but yes to my knowledge it is under the United Grand Lodge of England
>>
>>31293239

You could try contacting the district secretary.
>>
>>31293264
Just dug up the email, the person who said he'll be in contact in due course is the Provincial Assistant G Secretary.
>>
>>31293284

Send him another email just following up and say you've spoken to another mason and are now more keen than ever.
>>
How do you guys get yourself to the gym? I know I need to stop being so sedentary, but going to the gym is just so boring; I'd much rather read or work on my painting.
>>
>>31293298

>>
>>31293309

Good luck with your journey anon, hope it goes well.

>>
>>31292595

Hmm, I think I understand then. It's a motivational force. A goal for something out there that's bigger than ourselves, to help one transcend our human limitations.

Yeah, fuck it, that sounds good. I'll have to come up with an excuse for a higher being, but I'm thinking something more natural and concrete like the resiliency of life, evolution, the movements of the planets or something along those lines.

I'll be there tomorrow after classes to check it out and see how it is. Thanks for the tips brah, it sounds like a really great place. And thanks for these threads as well. I just made a habitrpg account, Cold_Slumber is my username if you or anyone else itt wants to be bros and slay dragons n' sh!t together in the same way that we conquer /life/.
>>
>>31293356

Good man, you don't even have to make it up, as long as you understand it, thats all that matters.

Man, if the masons were a multi level marketing scheme, id be making sweet bank at this point!
>>
>>31293336
another anon but what are freemasons exactly? I've tried googling but it basically just says some of the things they AREN'T and that some people are opposed to them.

wtf?
>>
>>31282367
how do I stop being afraid of sex and the thought of being intimate with someone? I can be friends my people of the opposite gender, I'm fine during social situations but I shut down when anything romantically/sexually related happens. Could it be my catholic upbringing? should I see a sex therapists?

I mean, that's the only thing "odd" in my life. I go to college, have a job and hobbies, and doing fine in all those things. I consider myself a happy person with friends and that is able to enjoy life in general. Dunno maybe I was fiddled as kid or something.
>>
>>31293497
do you masturbate?
i would stop and let your sex drive take over.

also realize that guys take sex more seriously than girls.
to women sex is no different than kissing or shaking hands.
>>
>>31293401

It's a fraternity, we have rituals and teach spiritual things about morality and how an upright man should live his life, and its a charitable group, we gives grants and such, and lastly its a social group, we drink beer and whiskey and eat and chat.

>>31293497

Just gotta practice man, thats all i can really tell you.
>>
>>31293401
Freemasons aren't a secret society at all, m8. Just check out their wikipedia page.
>>
>>31293520
I didn't actually started masturbating until last year (23). now I do it like once a month, more than that feels "dirty". I might feel like I want to rub one off but I'm to restrain myself.
>>
>>31293523
Sounds bretty cool, I think I need some sort of social group in my life. Would I be welcome if i don't smoke or drink? Who would you say it's good for as a member?(I'm guessing there would be different answers from members versus people speculating some shit or the internet)

>>31293531
I know but their wiki literally just says their history and talks about some lodges instead of telling me what exactly they do there.

>>31293557
see a therapist and jack off more for starters bro. Not fapping until 23 is legitimate cause for concern. Unless you're trolling that is very not right and you have developmental problems, how has no one ever talked to you about masturbation before?

That seriously sounds low test or some sort of health problem. Do you have a lot of muscle mass?
>>
>>31293557
Don't take this the wrong way, but you should definitely see a sex therapist.

Yes go to a sex therapist because that's not right and you have some sort of developmental problems. If you were a male it would be far worse I think

i consider this a lot

i don't have much of a sex drive

i jerk off sometimes but sex irl i miss a lot of signals and spaghetti out of potential sexy time

i only ever jerk off if i'm browsing 4chan and see porn
if i stay away from 4chan for a while then i can go weeks and months without beating it

and i feel like a piece of shit after i beat it

i was legitimately scared of sex for some reason until a few months ago when i lost my v-card to a hoe from tinder

also i can barely get boners
