DUDE
Hey fit,
So about a year and a half ago I was pretty much living the optimal healthy lifestyle, I managed my meals, had a steady workout, cardio, and was at about a 7-9% bf, shit posted on /fit/, But now, I'm in my 2nd year of uni, live with my gf, and live a lazy fat life and work as a waiter. I've gained about 30 pounds of fat, I eat whatever, and just watch TV and play vidya. I did wrestling, track, swim and cross country in high school all while still getting in my lifts, I feel like shit and REALLY want to be how I used to, but I lack motivation for some reason, to be honest I feel mildy depressed, college has stressed the shit outta me and just makes me want to sit and do nothing since i never have time to relax.
Anybody else gone through this? How did you manage it, any help would be appreciated.
tl;dr - Used to be fit, am fat and lazy now, no motivation and slightly depressed, wat do
Pic related, me about 2.5 years ago, probably Junior year hs, srry for gay pose, was for gf
Force yourself back into the gym. Go for 2 weeks. Fuck DOMS in the ass. Then you will fall in love with the gym all over again.
Lack of focus. You want to change, but only for a minute, right

OP here, probably should've mentioned, but I work the graveyard shift at work on weekends so I try to avoid being sore at work since I'm alone and costumers are assholes and need me to move quickly, which is another excuse I know, it's just shitty being in this mindset, I've tried getting back into it but the laziness just always gets me man
I'm getting into deadlifting and I really like it. Can I just use deadlifting to get a stronger by itself or are there workouts needed with deadlifting? I'm trying to bulk up, what type of diet would you reccomend? Pic related, it's my arms currently.

Honestly, it depends on your goal. The deadlift is an amazing overall strength builder but if your end goal is to look good, you are better off doing a variation rather than conventional or sumo.
https://www.t-nation.com/workouts/snatch-grip-deadlift
The snatch grip deadlift for sets of 5-8 is one of the best upper back compounds there is, and they will build your forearms in a hurry as well:
I'm an older guy (36) and prone to back problems so I do snatch grip deads and front squats. Since the switch, my back has never felt better (or looked better).
If you have no issues with deadlifting, and you want to continue using conventional/sumo, I still recommend adding a snatch grip session into your routine as the benefits are huge. The snatch grip deadlift will also improve your conventional/sumo deadlift.
25/M here, and my situation is fucked. I'm 6' 180lbs, lift 3x per week with 2x cardio. Diet is decent, balance meat and veggies, little sugar but with tons of dairy.
Essentially, despite my being relatively fit, the amount of animal products in my diet is causing serious problems. Last friday, I found out my cholesterol was 240 (ldl 180) and I have gallstones. Bp was normal though.
They basically told me I have to replace lifting with cardio and go vegan, and maybe start taking statins unless I want to die in my 40s or 50s. 3 days in going vegan and I'm down 2lbs and fucking miserable. Is life worth living if I have the body of a 12yr old Chinese girl? What would you do?
I had surgery for the gallstones, drinking low fat/ lactose free milk.
I just need to be careful about things with too much fat, as in no eat them two days in a row.
All in all everything is pretty normal
Never had high cholesterol tho
EAT MORE
I cut out the dairy and I've never felt better anon. I don't understand why your body is having such a hard time with meat though. at the very least you should be able to eat a lot of salmon if nothing else. also egg/beef protein powder
Recently my schedule has changed, I get up at 8 am and get back home at 8 pm, making it a real pain to go to the gym. I've been skipping it lately.
Go to a 24 hour gym
Work out after work
Do it because you enjoy it; find a new hobby if that's not reason enough.
You're going to have to change your routine up a bit to compensate for either lack of going to the gym or lack of frequency. By doing a full body workout or something split up into less days, and then spending more time in the daya that you ARE able to train, you should be fine.

Neil Degrasse Tyson squats over lmao4pl8 raw and has a higher IQ than your 1 rep max.
Why aren't you making astrophysical gains, /fit/
Pretty sure he was on steroids when he was young.
And he's not actually smart. He just regurgitates talking points.
That's a fake barbell with fake plates. You're fucking retarded OP.

I think every human being has over 70iQ, 1 rep FeelsBadMang
Guys, you've convinced me that dumbbells aren't enough and that I should get my ass into barbell lifting, SS and all.
Now, a gym membership in the nearest gym would cost around 2000 dollars for a year (in American units), so I figure I'm better off buying the damn equipment myself for a fraction of that price and have all I need at home. I reckon it would cost less than 2000 units.
I've seen benches at 70 euros; is it possible to have quality at such a price?
What do I really need?
Does it matter what barbell I get as long as it's 20 kilos itself and is compatible with my DB weights? I assume it's mostly all the same since it isn't required to do much beyond not break.
I live in an apartment, should I get something so I don't smash the floor? Are you required to somewhat drop the stuff in some exercises or will I always be able to land them softly? Even so, some protection is needed, I assume. What do you recommend?
Any suggestion about what to get, or what brand I should trust?
Discuss: home gym.

Are you on the bottom floor of an apartment?
If not, once you get up to a respectable weight, and can't set it down lightly, your neighbors are going to fucking hate you.
>>35171273
If I wanted humor, I'd look up your one rep maxes
>>35171296
I got two floors in my apartment and intend to lift upstairs, so I doubt they'd hear much of anything.
>>35171305
You wouldn't laugh because I don't even have any. I've literally never lifted a BB in my entire life. Been training with DB and some full body routine for over 7 months now; I feel ready to tackle a BB (without weight, at least).
Is Rob Riches natty?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhNmR8LMraI
When posed with the question if someone is natty ask yourself two questions.
1) Are they exceptionally lean?
2) Do they have exceptional mass?
If you answered yes to both these questions, they most likely are not natty.

big
lean

How did you start going to the gym? I have no friends and can't pay for a personal trainer. How am I supposed to know that I'm doing things right? Isn't it weird when someone just lifts the empty bar?
Your mediocrity is the only weird thing I see here. Grow some balls, lift just the bar.

If you've never really lifted, what you do in the first couple months barely matters. Do anything, just go. That's the important part. You'll figure it out.

Running. Pros/cons when already lifting 5x/week?

if I squat 125kg and deadlift 180kg, at what weight should I clean pull?
I need a reference senpaitachi
>>35168495
Whatever weight you can complete the rep scheme your program demands with good form...
For sets of five i normally go 110% of my CJ. Your deadlift has nothing to do with your clean pulls.
