My dad asked me if I could show him how to do some exercises at the gym. I've been lifting for two years, so I have some experience, but definitely don't know everything there is to know about strength training, dieting, etc.

What to do I have to be aware of when training an older person? Basically, what differences are there between a 70 year old man and a 20 year old man when it comes to how to effectively, and safely, build muscle and strength?

I was thinking of having him do compound movements with higher reps and lower weight for a month or two because I want to be careful with his joints, making sure I'm not bearing them with weight faster than they can adapt. Does that make any sense?

I was also going to have him do variants of certain movements, such as seated cable row rather than bent over or pendlay row (for the safety of his back) and lat pulldowns rather than pull ups (in case something goes wrong and he needs to bail).

Basically something like this:

A

Leg Press 3x10
Bench Press 3x10
Seated Cable Row 3x10

B

Leg Press 3x10
Overhead Press 3x10
Lat Pulldown 3x10

How does this look? And does anyone have ideas for how much/often to increment the weights?

I was thinking of adding in some arm work for him after the first few weeks, and then possibly teaching him how to squat. I'm more hesitant to get him going with deadlifts though. I don't want him to have a fucking stroke or something while straining and holding his breathe on heavy deads. Are deadlifts safe for a 70 year old, or should I have him do something else? The deadlifts would mainly be for strengthening his spinal erectors.

Hello /fit/, I come to you with a fairly unique experience which most of you likely won't believe and I'd wager none of you could empathize with, but which represents a personal milestone and the washing away of a long-standing psychological burden.

I am a 26 year old virgin. That's not the surprising part; I'm sure there are plenty of peer aged people on this website (or wizards of higher mastery levels) who know that feel. There's plenty of threads a day about that subject and people here are far more likely to question another anon ever having had sex than not believe they're still a virgin. The unbelievable part is this:

At nearly 27 years of age, this morning was the first time I have ever masturbated.

I understand if you don't believe me; I've many years since stopped admitting to this fact Last time I'd discussed it was when I was 19, and my freshman room mate (a friend from high school) mentioned it to the other dudes from my dorm, none of whom could believe it. I didn't keep myself from doing it for any religious/spiritual reason nor any purposeful act of willpower. As an adolescent, I simply never felt inclined to do it.

That fact could come for many reasons: my personal hypothesis is a combination of self-hatred due to childhood bullying and some warped sense of not-engaging in the act somehow making me more morally upright - that thought process ended when I was about 17.

I ended up on myfreecams (as I often do) to see who was on (I've never paid a cent for these sites, BTW.) I hope this thread won't turn into another keto vs. non-keto thread. I couldn't give less of a shit which one is superior.
I'm starting a keto cut because I went too far with my bulk and got addicted to sugar.
I have gained 15 kgs of weight, mostly fat, within 15 months. I eat sugary shit worth 1000 kcals nearly every day, in addition to my regular diet. One day not too long ago I ate 8000 kcals worth of food. I'm beginning to look like a fat ass.
This has to end now.

I don't even know anymore. My whole life has been ambiguous as fuck.

I guess what I do know is that I have sunken orbital rims and I'm starting to go bald. So there's something to feel sad about. On the other hand I know from experience if I apply myself the world is my oyster. I always thought I had a very masculine midface until I realized I was measuring wrong. I'm actually average-below average. No wonder girls were never interested in a ONS.

Mostly I blame my situatin on shitty upbringing and the chronically high cortisol it caused. Not to mention all the personality disorders and neuroses. And all the bullying during puberty.That fucked me up more than my genetics for sure.

My bench and ohp has been stalling for 4 weeks now. Should i add more calories?

Btw, i am not doing stronglifts but im wondering if the progression in SL charts is achivable? This is like 10kg/22lbs more on bench in 4 weeks. Is it even possible to increase weights every session without getting fat as fuck?

18 y.o. manlet here who is way shorter than parents. Both of my parents are ~5'9, meaning for all my life height predictors showed 5'11-6", and welp, never quite made it.

I have a pretty advanced beard for my age, and only grew a quarter inch in the last year. Though I think I hit puberty a bit later than most, but not by a whole lot or anything, pretty normal.
