i have the self discipline of a heroin addict that lives next to a heroin dealer
anyone here who's struggled with self discipline and overcame it that can give advice?
>inb4 'man up' or 'just do it'
if i had developed that mindset by now i wouldnt have the struggles i do.
>>35367001
for reference, i struggle with the fact i live at home with parents (18 y.o) and while at one point they supported me very much and my entire family had gotten fit as fuck including me, we've all since fell off the wagon and im the only one trying to get back on track. i dont have alot of healthy food choices and when i do the pizza and pasta in the fridge is just too damn appealing.
Take it a day at a time. I'm a recovering fat fuck who lost over 100 pound so far. It was way easier for me to stick to my diet if I looked at it like this, "I don't need to eat clean every day for the rest of my life, I just gotta eat clean today."
When you move it a bucketful at a time, one day you'll look up and see you've moved a mountain.
google "30 days of discipline"
Im about to invest on one if these shoes, which one should i go for.

Does /fit/ use any smartphone apps to aid in achieving your goals?

They're not called smartphones anymore. They're just phones.

so long as you don't post "going to the gym XD" or "at the gym" on your social media, it doesn't really matter if you use it or not. some nutrition apps are good for diet. no "gym buddy" app is worth anything

>gf wants to get fit
>I want to get fit
>read on here and reddit
>bring her to gym
>she wants a more toned butt so I have her do a squat program
>read online that a good starting weight is bodyweight
>I read that the bar weighs 45lbs
>Okay so load up enough weight on it that it all adds up to 245lbs (her bodyweight)
>I have her put it on her back and try to bring it out of the rack
>it won't budge
>tel her she has to be explosive
>she pushes really hard on it with he whole body
>bar comes out of the rack and it bends her the fuck over
>i guess she feels a pain in her knee or some shit so she breaks her knees and fucking falls and drops the bar on the safety bars
>wtf
>she can't even fucking move
>she's in crazy pain
>waiting at the hospital for the doctor to tell me wtf is going on
you guys said bodyweight was good wtf? is she just a weak bitch. I seriously can'tbfuckijgbbelive this shit.. her son is here and he's fucking crying and blames all this shit on me. you guys have some fucking explain to do
Yeah that's what happens when you use too little weight, your body goes off balance and you break shit.
You're supposed to use double bodyweight. Make her do that when she gets out.
lel that's a good pasta, OP
Ignore last 2 reps because of shit form. I try to be careful with back rounding as much as possible, but it still rounds a little bit. Wtf do I do?
Bonus question: I deadlift with overhand grip and this is the most I can lift with it. Should I switch to over under grip (I don't want to because of the imbalances it may cause) or should I buy straps?

Start with your hips lower.
>>35371901
In the last thread I've created they said I should start with my hips higher so they don't shoot up first.
lower hips.
brace harder
When I started a PT instructed that I deadlifted wrong cause I used hamstrings. So I started dl like you and stalled at about 110 kg. The PT was a bodybuilder though and he said that will work my target my back muscles better and I shouldn't target hamstrings. As I got wiser I realized he is full of shit. Lower your hips but not too much, brace and concentrate to pull the bar with both your hip and knee joint at the same time. Both joints should lock at the same time. Once I adjusted my stance my DL shoot up like crazy.
Any of you motherfuckers train their mind in the art of memory?
If so, where did you start? Requesting literature.
>>35371489
Go on /lit/
>>35371489
>what is Google?
Art of Memory is basically just setting up "memory palace" and linking certain "images" to an idea/concept. For example:
>imagine a familiar location like you house or a street you frequently travel
>it needs to be somewhere you can easily imagine and "walk" through mentally - this is your Memory Palace
>I've used my old high school, my first house, ect...
>next, at certain places in your memory palace mentally place the ideas/concepts you want to remember
>you can't just use a word for the idea/concept however
>you need to attach the concept to a mental picture or scene that acts as a mneumetic device - make it funny and or obscene
>let's say I want to memorize the planets names
>for Mercury I'll place my mental image at the door to my childhood home.
>the mental image I use for Mercury will need to be something the help me remember. You will have to use some creativity here but for me things that sound similar help me remember stuff
>so for Mercury I'll use a sexy Mermaid (mer) who's curing meat - or something similar.
>do the same for the remaining planets.
The trick is to first create these vivid mental images that act to remind you of what ever concept or part of a concept you're trying to remember. What the image actually is is up to you but ancient sources tell us (and experience confirms) that lewd/sexy and funny images work best. Anything that'll help you remember the concept/idea will work.
Also:
>acronyms are your friend
>stupid songs and rhymes help
>rote memorization isn't that bad and helps a lot

So I have been doing SS for a month and am wondering if I should switch to SL. Which is simply SS with rows instead of power cleans and chin-ups removed, right?
I don't like power cleans. They are very hard to progress, and don't do much other than helping with the deadlift. And chin-ups don't work my lats as much as I would like them to, while rows do. I know my biceps might get somewhat neglected, but I can simply add curls to the days I do rows. So why not? SL seems more useful, overall.
Kot is always related.
>>35371464
look man. Everyone can follow a program step by step at the beginning but now that you figured out for yourself what works for you and what not you can adjust however you want but keep the core of the program the same.
Just incorporate whatever you can find into it and how it fits yourself best.
Thats how true lifting is done - listen to your body. Know yourself.
Not by reading and following a program step by step like an autist.
>>35371527
That's probably what I will do; SL+curls. I am just asking if people will simply recommed something else, and if chin-ups are really vital, and if there is a way to incorporate them into SL.
>>35371606
Just add chin ups to the end of your workouts. There really isn't no mistery.
I'm thinking about joining the local boxing/sparring gym and signing up to fight some of those chumps, I love to fight. I
went 8-1 when I was a teenager in an underground boxing ring.. we would sneak out of school at lunch and box in hella
sketchy areas and winner by KO ... I only lost once by disqualification because we were at a beaners house as I was more
focus on not getting stabbed than the fight, so i called it and left with my crew mid fight even though it was pretty much
neck and neck ... who cares tho.
What I'm saying is I have fighting experience, i'm a caged animal. so should I join a gym? I have very quick hands and
powerful punches and feel like I could use my mind and body to out maneauver and out flank my next meal (victim), im
hungry.
So, should I?
Or will I embarrass myself and have my ass handed to me? I'm a big dude btw, 5'5" 176lbs and working on toning..pic relateds face looks exactly like my face btw
go for it, but be prepared to be humbled if you go in with that attitude
