Is SS a meme?
30 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
it's a troll routine
>>
Are you lifting because you want to eventually lift higher weights (i.e. you have autism)? Then do SS.

Are you lifting because you want to look good? Don't do SS.
>>
Yes and no.
No and yes.

It depends on your goals.

If you're a beginner and want to get good at the powerlifts and generally get strong, it's a good option (barring any of Rippetoe's diet advice, just eat reasonably...)

If you only care about general strength, it's not the only option but it's not a bad one either. If you care about strength + aesthetics, with some accesories it's not a bad choice either really. If you just care about aesthetics and don't want to lift heavy shit, I'd go with a beginner program based around higher reps.

And regardless of anything, I would include accesories to SS. There's no good reason to not to do accesories on SS too, rows, chinups/pulldowns, arm work (curls/tricep extensions), ab work, calf work. No reason not to if you care (and doing overhead and horizontal pulls are a really good idea for general muscular balance too).

Whatever...

Ugh.

Any way to get rid of saggy skin naturally after massive weight loss? (-100lbs)

I lost 150lbs, didn't like how much the sag was... gained 50lbs of it back, and now want to lose 50 + 20lbs. Any proven ways to tone and tighten the skin without surgery for the stomach, thighs, arms, and chest?

my hips have been constantly sore since i started squatting.

i dont really feel it when doing normal stuff or even when i am squatting. but sometimes when putting on shoes or some other akward movement i will get a flare of pain in my hips. as if the tipe of my pelvis wants to leave my body.

i keep trying anything to solve this but nothing helps. the only thing that changed is that my knees and lower back are sore now to from trying to squat more upright.

i think i need to stop squatting untill my knees feel normal again as well. so will the legpress put pressure on any part of my joints? or should i just do hip thrusts for a month instead.

Femanon. 5' 6", 330 pounds. I'm thinking of starting a water fast to jump start some weight loss. I'm already exercising where I can. It's light exercise, walking, aerobics, dancing, because of a knee injury related to my weight. Have to take it a bit easier.

I'm diabetic, and have hypothyroidism. Today is the start of the fast for me, nothing but water. I'd like to maintain this fast for 40 days.

I want your thoughts and opinions here on what you guys think it'll do, or if there's anything else I should be doing along with it. After the fast, I'm going to be starting on soylent 1.5 to reintroduce food slowly, and learn to strictly calorie count.

What do you think this fast will do to me? I realize a lot of the weight that'll come off will be water weight, but I had hoped it would force my body into ketosis, so I can rely on my fat stores. Enough is enough, and I wanna make it, god damnit. The new year is going to be a NEW year for me! I am hell bent on it.

Look forward to hearing from you all, harassment included. Fat shame me, I don't care, at least I'm doing something about it. Much love, /fit/.

There's this couple at the gym who always smiles and winks at me, I've flirted with the wife when she's been alone, the husband has called me 'handsome' and a 'hunk' and slapped my ass in a playful manner. I don't know what to think. They're such a weird couple and they always seem high. I don't think they actually workout either they just do some cardio and then walk around the weight area doing random shit.

How do you powerclean properly? Some people use their arms to help lift the bar, others say keep arms completely straight and all the powers comes for your knees and hips.
20 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>35376328
the bar is driven by hip extension, initiated by knee extension. the arms for the most part just guide the already moving bar into place.
>>
The power does come from the legs. You use the arms/lats to keep the bar as close to the body as possible. You don't pull with the arms until extension of the legs is complete. You don't lock the arms out straight either, I see crossfitters doing that shit and it's stupid. You use your legs to scoop the bar straight up, you don't bang it away from you. Then you use the upper body to pull the bar to pull your hips straight down, and whip your elbows through to receive the bar on your shoulders.

It's easy to get into the habit of jumping the feet out wide 'starfish' style, which is bad. The heavier you go, the wider you'll jump your feet out which is retarded, and is the result of you not using enough power and not doing it properly.

No matter how hard I work there will be no way to avoid stretch marks is there? I was 290lbs and I'm down to 233lbs in almost 4 months. I know that the health benefits are what's important but it's a little disheartening knowing that I can't undo all the damage. I just hope I don't get that weird vertical window blinds thing going on that liposuction people get.

Uhh if you don't have stretch marks already then I don't know how losing weight would give them to you. You get them from STRETCHING not shrinking
>>
Slow down there chief, stretch marks are just scars and you can fade them yeah, probably not completely get rid of but fade them sure.

Good job on the weight loss but slow down or you'll be a human sail.

Aim for 10 lbs a month bb.
