For those of you that decided to stop drinking, I'm curious to hear about your experiences. How long has it been, why did you decide to stop, how has it been going for you?

I stopped almost two months ago. I hadn't drank in a couple days cuz I was sick and just on a whim decided to keep it going with no expectations. As the first couple weeks went by I enjoyed how much better I felt all the time and all the money I was saving. Made me reflect and realize how much of a slave I had been to alcohol and I didn't like it. Now keeping it going indefinitely. Gonna cut out weed soon and then cigarettes soon after that.

Though sometimes I'll just open and smell a bottle of tequila which of course smells fantastic and the fumes make my head a little woozy.

Sober for 3 years 2 months. My skin looks healthier, I dont get sick much anymore, mind is clearer. Probably the best decision i have made.

Not much social life anymore, when you are a sober alcoholic being around people drinking is tough. I get very lonely at times but its better than the horrible pain alcohol brought.

Hey /fit/, a 110kg fatty needs your help (pic related). I was in perfect shape when I was in the army, because I had no choice, but being able to eat whatever the fuck I want and not being forced to go on endless walks and do push-ups until I hug the ground with my face, with tons of shit on my back all day long turned me into this monstrous blob of fat you can see here.
The constant “I think you should consider the possibility of maybe starting to contemplate the eventuality of perhaps imagine doing something about your little extra-weight” of my wife really doesn’t help.
I’ve been lurking for a week, I read the fucking sticky, started to eat healthier, and I’ve been following the Foundation program on darebee because fitness membership is expensive as shit where I live. Is it good? I’ve never seen anyone mention it here before, but a friend told me it was a good start, and that the fit rpgs are fun…
It’s not a NYR, I’ve been trying to get back in shape for 3 months, but I was never able to stick to it because I had no self-control or willpower. But now that I found this board, I realise that it’s some serious business, and that I could get help from here. So can you give me advices, your opinions on the program, encourage me or roast me? Being insulted and told I was a little shit unable to do something was the very best motivation I had to do the mentioned something when I was in the army.

Alright I was thinking today, when you're sore, your muscles rebuild and become stronger, how much stronger? Like how much more can you lift after your muscles rebuilt themselves? Like 5 pounds? 2.5 pounds? How much do you guys think?

Eat 50-60% of your usual portion size.
Drink water like a motherfucker.
Introduce a daily 17 hour fasting window after your last meal.
Example - don't eat after 7:30pm, don't eat before 12:30pm the next day. Simple.
If you're hungry at night, try drinking water/coffee then brush your teeth straight away.
If you eat 3 x meals a day, make one of them OATS. Doesn't matter which one.
Now you only have two other meals per day to worry about.
Prioritize protein with every meal. If none on the plate, drink milk.
No soda. Drink only water, coffee, tea and milk.
Go to bed hungry.
Have 2 x snacks per day. Make one of them healthy...
Examples - Carrot sticks, cucumber, nuts, celery = all fucking good.
Take photographs of yourself every two-three weeks.
It's easier to see progress week by week, difficult to notice day to day.
Cook a large batch of two different foods to alternate throughout the week.
If you eat 3 x meals per day, now you only have one meal per day to worry about (the other is oats, remember?)
Pickles are a good snack. Buy them, eat them.
When you're sat around the house at night, keep your shoes on.
You're more likely to keep moving with them on.
Don't feel working out? Just put your workout clothes on anyway.
After a few mins wearing them, you might feel like doing it.
Lift weights 3 x week on non-consecutive days.
Alternate Bench Press / Overhead Press, Squats / Deadlift, Chin Ups / Pull Ups.
Add two other exercises you enjoy each session, I like Rows, Shrugs, Calf Raise, Abs.
Workout takes less than an hour.
Cardio On non-lifting days is optional, but recommended.
Jogging, jump rope or swimming. 20-30mins should do.

This is something I've always wondered.

I'm 21 now, so not a kid anymore.

But back in college and highschool, there always was THAT fat guy who liked to use his imposing physique to threaten others.

You know the one I'm talking about.

In my case, there was one in HS who was pretty cool, but always used his physique to menace others and dissuade them from ever criticizing him.

He was 6'4, 330 pounds and played a bit of rugby and handegg.

Now what I'm asking is, is fat strength a myth? Would it have been for someone of equal height or smaller, to destroy that guy in a one on one?

The "fat strength" secret is that they learn to throw that weight around - you don't need to be all that strong when you've got momentum on your side. If you can avoid letting them use that advantage, they probably don't have much else left to call on in a fight.

I dunno about fat strength, but size strength definitely exists.

Just because someone is fat doesn't mean they're going to be stronger than you, but if they're bigger they've generally got a pretty big advantage.

Are there any "rules" at the gym besides wiping the equipment off after you use it? Like, am I allowed to do sit-ups anywhere in the gym or is there like a special place I'm supposed to go to do those?

I always feel like I'm doing the wrong thing at the gym and that people are judging me.

There is usually a yoga mat somewhere in the gym for crunches / sit ups / push ups etc.

Look for a blue mat and if there isnt one, just ask about it, the staff are there to help you not to judge you.

Currently around 18-19% bodyfat (Down from 20)
Want to drop to 10-15%
Doing moderate exercise but diet is the main limiter here I think.
I don't want to obsessively count calories or what not.
Any suggestions on weekly meal plans, or meal planning websites I could use to cut that last few kilos?

Make your own. It doesn't require obsessive anything, just sit down every sunday and figure out what you're going to eat for the week, then buy that food at the grocery store and Bob's your uncle. Say you want to eat 2000 calories a day, buy 14000 calories worth of food with the right macro and micro nutrient profiles to fit your goals.You can't overeat if you don't buy extra food, and you can't undereat if you finish all the food you bought by the end of the week. Easy peasy.
