I just relapsed after about a week of NoPorn. Not even a week, probably more like 5 days.

It went something like I was able to focus with work and the gym for 5 of those days, then when I got a day off finally I spent too much time browsing the internet in places where there's pornographic content everywhere. I could feel the dopamine receptors in my brain drying out and being irritated from lack of stimulation. I mean, literally. The thought would just linger and the feeling would fester in me.

I don't know what to do, /fit/. I'm so tired of being alone. I'm so tired of using porn as an outlet. Whenever I go out with friends I just have this diminished interest in women I meet because of porn. I don't even care anymore. I feel like a computer that's been programmed to run a set equation and everytime I try to run something different I get fried.

I had the greatest time of my life on Monday, I hit my squats and bench and then went on to do arms, and I've grown so much in my strength and size, I was screaming in my car on the way back because I was so convinced I was ready to be alpha.

But this porn just keeps dragging me back in.

Honest answer? The media is at least partially to blame. As an example: film.

We no longer have the action heroes of the 1980s and early 90's such as Rambo, Conan and Die Hard (or peak Stallone, Arnie and Willis as stars). We have a generation of film makers that have grown with these films as reference, creating action heroes "closer to home" and older such as John Wick and The Equalizer, a cry out to say "I'm old but I've still got it". Most action heroes that don't fit that archetype are teenagers or young adults, think Catnis and post-reboot Spiderman.

There are some notable exceptions. Hugh Jackman is a great example, he looked swole as fuck in the last X-Men film. I'm a big fan of Christian Bale, from American Psycho through to the Batman films he's managed a decent physique to aspire to. Thor and Captain America are pretty big for superhero films, too.

But with all the films that come out now and the mass exposure they receive, even if we get the (literal) muscle in films, it never becomes as prevailant as the era of swole bastards in action films, when what you saw was what your culture made.

The other side of it is the demonisation of fitness and gym culture. Maybe this happened back in the day, but society has become less receptive to the gym. The equation of male gym goer = dumb meathead has never really gone away and has only been amplified by the buffoon dad archetype in television rising in popularity.

Probably not. Society is too geared towards narcisism and self-indulgence. Muscles, or rather the struggle for them, will become less idolised as the media continues to enforce that view point. It's a deep rooted issue with a lot of factors coming together to explain it, including the "manly" generation's proximity to the two world wars.

I'm going back to school this semester, and along with it, I want to lose weight. Yeah yeah, inb4 newyearsfag. I want to lose my original freshman 50 from my first attempt at University and be the track star I was in HS again.

So I move into my new place. Landlord says that the old tenant moved out in a hurry and left behind a lot of shit, furniture, dishes, etc. I check out the pantry and there's TONS of /fit/ related foods here.

Here's a quick inventory:

- Around 30 cans of tuna
- At least 400 bags of green tea
- 1 large bag of quinoa
- 1 large tub of smooth peanut butter
- 1 large tub of coffee
- 1 container of coconut oil
- 2 containers of stevia
- 2 containers of 100% natural maple syrup
- 1 large bag of jasmine rice
- 1 small bag of brown rice
- 6 empty protein powder tubs filled to the brim with rolled oats, ground flax seed, hemp hearts, almonds, soy beans, and lentils
- 3 full protein powder tubs (chocolate, vanilla, and cookies & cream)

I've got a few questions related to this stuff. I'm absolutely new to this. I have no idea if I hit the mother lode or if a lot of this shit is just worthless.

- Can you guys recommend any good recipes that utilizes some of these ingredients? I have no idea what I'm going to do with coconut oil or hemp hearts, for example.

- Is there anything here I should ditch? I've heard a lot of bad things about soy beans and estrogen, should those just go in the garbage?

- Is it actually safe to store some of these things at room temperature in old containers like this? The soy beans and help hearts smell a bit odd, but I don't know if it's rot or just how they're meant to smell.

I can't, fuck it. I've got my 1st gym workout under my belt and it's not that bad, but that fucking diet is killing me.

1. 3 eggs, glass of milk with half glass of porridge, banana
2. Canned mackerel fillets in tomato sauce, 2 slices of whole grain rye bread with 100g cottage cheese, banana
3. 100g chicken breast from the oven with 50g of white rice (around 150g after boiling) and salat made of tomato, cucumber and natural youghurt

And that's it. I should have eat 3 more meals, but I am out already on just my 3rd meal. It's fucking plain it's killing me. I feel like am I going to puke any moment.

Anyone else struggles with this too?

I'd recommend starting w smaller meals and getting 6 in. Eventually your appetite will pick up and you can add more cals.
