Please help me guys, I'm really fucking depressed.

I can't bring myself to adhere to a diet. Every time I say "Alright, I'll stop eating M&M's and sitting on my fat ass all day," I fail miserably, and I don't know why. I don't know if it's just cravings or emotional shit (I've had a rough life, but not nearly enough to justify being a pussy).

How can I reduce my intake from, say, 2500 calories to 1700 or lower each day? Any advice is appreciated greatly.

It is a lifestyle change, not a temporary dieting change. Track your calories and aim to eat in a deficit while getting all the nutrients you need. Eat more fiber. Go on a hypertrophy program to maintain muscle mass during the weight loss period. Don't give up if you mess up. Realize it takes long-term dedication and every day is a small victory. You'll make it, brah. We'll all make it.

Count everything you eat and plan out your meals

Healthier ready meals are good if you are trying to take your mind off food. 3 varied meals a day that won't put you over your deficit and requires no thought other than buying and nuking in the microwave.

Or make everything yourself from scratch, again log everything and weigh it and make batches so you don't fuck yourself over with proportionately more oil. This is good for learning basic nutrition.

You will see changes on the scales after a while and then you will see changes in the mirror. Measure yourself now so you can see progress.
Remove the shitty food from your life. If it's not there you can't eat it, you don't have to eat everything on your plate.

Not being able to do 5 pushups to start and doing 20 comfortably now is a big milestone for me after the weightloss

Short answer: it's useless.

Long answer:
Since we're talking about measurements it's appropriate to bring up some high school science definitions again.
Accuracy is how close a given measurement is, on average, to a true value.
Precision is how much difference there is between individual measurements.

So there's a chance that this image is "accurate" in that each of the individuals shown might have the body fat percentage reported. But that's irrelevant to trying to decide what body fat somebody else is by just looking. Guessing based on how someone looks is neither accurate nor precise in estimating body fat.

There are both systematic (subcutaneous body fat distribution varies between people, visceral and subcutaneous proportions vary, absolute fat mass has more to do with appearance than relative fat mass, etc) and random (lighting, angle, water retention, glycogen state, etc) errors in this method.

I've seen people that look like 30% but by dual water weighing were actually 22%, I've seen people that look like 10% but by accurate testing were 16%.

The deal is, if you want to be healthy, aim for between 12 and 17% body fat. If you want to look a certain way, diet until you look that way.

/fit/ nub. Spent the last few days reading the sticky and linked resources. Something kind of critical Im not sure about thougth. I originally intended to do 3 days weights and 2 days cardio. Cardio the couch to 5k and weights the recomended one (forget the name).

The weights page says " You will want at least 1 day off between workouts. For example, you could work out Monday/Wednesday/Friday or Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday or some other combination like that. How you do it isn’t particularly important as long as you get 3 workouts every 7 days and don’t work out on consecutive days. Do not try to work out more than 3 times a week to get faster results; it won’t work."

Does that mean I can only do 3 days of weights and no cardio on that program or is it relating purely to weights?

Gyno surgery brahs gtfi this thread. I had my surgery done last May, and I have these incredibly noticeable scars, they're shiny and red. How can I heal them? Summer is coming and I'm embarrassed to take off my shirt, not because of gyno now, but because of these scars. Anyone got an idea on what I can put on to take care of the scars?

Hi /fit/, I was wondering if I could get some help making a diet plan or workout schedule or something that'll help me lose about 30-40 lbs by the time June hits, I'm willing to do whatever at this point, even though I don't think of myself as a motivated or confident guy. I weigh 265 lbs, and at least 30% of that is body fat, I used to be able to squat my weight, and bench 195, but that was like two years ago, since then I haven't really had access to a proper gym. What advice can you guys give me?

Guys i started hitting the gym on wednesday cause i want to become trumps new wall.

It's been 48 hours now.

But it seems impossible cause i got this cancerous pain in my arms and chest, cant even move them an inch, or else the cancer will strike.

I've just started going to the gym a few weeks ago.

My problem is this. Last year I had a six pack(not lying) and I've slacked off but my problem is that I've always have had big legs and cankles. When I was working out and watching what I ate my top half lost the body fat but my bottom half kept it. Whats going on, why can't I get rid of the fat on my legs? I was fat growing up but lost all of it in middle school except on my legs.
