Tomorrow I'm gonna start bulking on a hobbit's schedule like the manlet I am. That means

>breakfast (7:30)
>second breakfast (9:30)
>elevenses (11:00)
>luncheon (12:30)
>afternoon tea (somewhere between 3:00 and 5:00)
>dinner (6:00)
>supper (9:00)

Seven small meals. As a lifelong skeleton, this is a bit daunting, but hopefully it'll help me eat enough food and more consistently.

I'm hoping fellow skellingtons here will join me on this quest for gains and we'll see how well or poorly it works. We're all gonna make it, bros.

what are you families like, fitness wise?

are you the only /fit/ family member? do you have /fit/ parents and siblings? it seems like a lot of us grew up with unhealthy family habits and we figured out that we didn't want to end up like any of them.

as for myself, i am the only /fit/ family member. i went back home to visit a couple months ago and my family wanted to have a small reunion at golden corral which is a really crappy buffet. i don't think any of my family members (aunts, uncles and cousins) weighed less than 200 pounds, a few weighed well over 350 pounds. my parents didn't come but my dad is also close to 300 pounds. my mom and sister are the skinniest, they're only about 50 pounds overweight.

My husband is getting fat now too as he reaches 30.
He eats and drinks the same shit as they do: nothing but soda and fast food. He's also not exercising anymore.

/fit/ he's getting so fat he's starting to get man fupa, it's disgusting. I've stopped sleeping with him and only do when he threatens to cave my head in.

My brother was skinnyfat, now fit. He lifts/runs. He is probably here on /fit/ right now.

I was fat, now skinnyfat. Starting to lift.
Parents were overweight, but were inspired by my progress, especially my mom.
Now they are of a nice healthy range for their age.
Extended family are either skinnyfat or fit. One grandma is a little overweight, but not too bad.
I was really the only one that got fat. I had emotional issues, I got help and quickly dropped my extra 70lbs, thank god.

I'd like to buy new gym clothes.
I have no idea what to get. Sports tshirts and shorts make me look like I'm ready for PE, tank tops are for douchebags, sweatpants are too warm. I like compression shirts but I'm too small to wear these.
What kind of clothes can I get if I'm serious about lifting but I don't want to look like I make a living selling supplements on youtube?

I don't follow a lifting program and have no routine. I just follow these principles:
Track calories according to goals. Make sure I'm getting stronger or in the case of a cut, not getting weaker. Hit all the muscles at least twice a week. Can I more or less see similar results doing this? So far I've had progress. Anyone else do this? Goal is aesthetics

Theoretically, yes. However as you get more advanced, the need for actual programming is going to increase. Doing random stuff is going to be less effective, especially if you're not eating at a surplus.
Of course there's nothing to keeping you from applying principles of proven strength programs to your training even if it's mostly improvised.

One downside of training like you do however is that it's pretty easy to end up with imbalances, because you probably end up training some things more than others.

Also, whether you use a program or not, you should have a training log so you can at least look back at previous training sessions and consider what's been working and what hasn't.
