Fatty here, I just joined a gym for first time after lurking for a bit, problem is, I'm way too weak to squat, even with an empty bar, is there something I can do? I don't want to give up so soon

Trainer tells me to not even bother learning to squat and just do machines, I just don't know what to do.

Hi guys, I've been lifting consistently for many years now but have never squatted due to fear (leg press for reps at 240? 250kg?). I have trained in martial arts and sports so I don't have chicken legs, but they're too weak for the rest of my lifts - they shake when I try to deadlift or even do rows.

I need a leg routine to help them catch up with the rest of my body parts ASAP. Any advice is appreciated, too.

Hey guys, I have had some shoulder issues and I believe it all has stemmed from bad posture. So I decided I would work on my deadlift form again. I have been doing corrective deadlifts and I think I have finally started to get them down. I am trying to keep a complete neutral spine and it is tough to do but im proud of my progress. Here is today's video, just hit 115lbs. A few days ago I hit 95lbs and posted here and got good advice. I tried to begin correcting things here. Let me know what you think!

For my fitman who I owe tremendously, here we go. Here’s the *first* year of a 2 year progression. I’ll be happy to share the same illustration for the second full year as well (concluded May 2016) if the community cares for this kind of thing. I still have to compile Year 2, so for now I’ll just post up this year 1 collage + current physique (a full year later than the last shown pic here). Ask any questions you like about lessons learned, mistakes made, broscience confirmations/debunking, and so on.

Disclaimer: My goal from day 1 was physique only, with no regard to strength. I aimed to have a chiseled physique reminiscent of Greek/Roman sculptures. This thread is by no means celebrating anything, in fact it’s primarily pointing out the various mistakes made in order to show a realistic depiction of an average fitizens progress during the first year. Mainly how compromising bodyfat% for muscle gains, and vice versa, makes a difference on appearance in the short and long term. A preview ride of the lifting roller-coaster without actually getting on, if you will. Shitposts, trolls and trip-haters all welcome, just don’t be discouraged if I only reply to people with actual questions.

Hey /fit/,

25 year old male here. I'm doing good, just looking for some guidance. I've lost about 25kg (55 pounds) in the past 12 months by cutting soda and a lot of bad food out of my diet and riding my bike a lot. Now I weigh 85kg (187 pounds) and I'm 1.82m (6 feet) tall.

Recently I've also started lifting dumbells and I'm up to 5.5kg (12 pounds). I'm also thinking about swimming more regularly because I spent half my youth in the water and I loved it. Basically I'm doing better every day but I'm not happy about my skin right now. (similar to the guy in the picture) Will I start losing more skin if I keep losing weight?

Any other advice on how to further my training would also be appreciated.

Generally, if you lose the fat quickly, your skin has less time to unstretch itself.

Unfortunately, as far as loose skin goes, there's not really a whole lot you can do to get rid of it, skin is skin. It will rebound a little bit since you're relatively young and have a lot of collagen, but you'll probably have that flabby skin forever. The best thing you can do is try to build some muscle to help fill it back out.

You can get surgery for it, but it's painful, can cause infection, expensive (usually not covered by insurance if you're from Burgerland) and from what I've heard it's not really worth it.
