Hey /fit/
MRI 2 months ago shows I have a herniated disc at L5-S1. I have been going to physical therapy and it is really helping with the muscle imbalances (excessive lordosis and very slight scoliosis), but they aren't interested in helping me lift besides telling me to strengthen my core and do the leg machines (I have been doing both of these).
Have any of you guys dealt with this before? I'm not sure what I should do. Surgeon told me lifting heavy weights is out of the question for the rest of my life, but also told me I am too lanky and need to get stronger. So I have no idea what kind of routine I should be doing. I'm guessing deadlifts and normal squats are out of the question.
TL;DR: herniated disc, how do I strengthen back?
Any tips are appreciated
No idea about a herniated disc, but I did get my hernia fixed 7 days ago. Sucks anon.
If you fucked up a disc don't worry about lifting for a while.. Take it slow and let that heal, your back is not something you want to Fuck up anon.
Best way to strengthen your back is not to fuck it up anymore.
Do any /fit/izens do cardio?

I do triathlons. Pisses me off that this board is just a lifting circle jerk.
>TFW weak trap development so your neck always kind of hurts a little bit after squatting
Put the bar lower on your shoulders, you should have 6 points of contact with the bar on your back. I had the same problem, I had the bar too high on my back.
>>37618714
Like where?
When I look at my back after squatting the red marks I have are directly along my traps. There's no where lower to place the bar until it's nolonger a high bar squat.

6?
Delt trap trap delt
Where are the other two?
> getting dinner with friends
> chick complains that it's not fair that guys can eat what they want and not gain weight

Advice /fit/, I'm on a 2500 calorie diet to lose some fat. I go to the gym every other day and do hypertrophy with 20 mins of cardio at the end. Should I eat the same amount of carbs and fats on my off days or cut out the carbs and increase fats or does it not matter. And yes I read the sticky, didn't say anything about % of macros
bump, curious as well about the carbs and fats

What kind of fucking cut is 2500 calories? You fucking faggot that's like above maintenance for most people
Cut carbs and increase protein
Is there anyway besides surgery to get a stronger jawline?
I've heard about mewing but I couldn't figure out if I was doing it right
Either chew gum regulary or pop molly once a week

Chewing gum doesn't change bone structure.
Bigger masseter muscle won't help much aswell.

Has everything to do with it. The second part extreme. Daily reminder why we do this.
Care to post a selfie, OP?
What to do if your parents are gains goblins?
>Won't let me sleep enough to recover normally(they go to sleep at like 11 pm and are up by 6 being loud AF, so even if I sleep at the same time as them it's not enough)
>Keep nagging me about getting a job and moving out and doing chores which further lowers my testosterone via cortisol
>Won't buy good food so I can't bulk nor cut properly
>Can't get gf because of their bullshit
Fuck man I know I'm a NEET but why do they have to be like this? I'm so jeally of other neets.
What do I do? I'm considering just taking what money I have and moving by myself to le big city and starting a new life but I have no job, no gf and no real skills.
How did /fit/bros deal with their gains goblins of a family?
>>37617853
great job op you posted it again
>>37617891
huh? This is my first time posting this thread
>>37617853
Get noise-cancelling ear plugs and sleep decently.
You're living with your parents. Show some courtesy and take advantage of your rent-free situation by getting a job. Save money. Use it to buy healthy food for gains.
Who cares about getting a gf? Get fit and fuck girls, you're good.
Develop some responsibility and actual life skills. Quit being a lil' bitch.

Hey guys, where do you hold the bar? What grip is best to focus on the pecs?
For bench I put my pinky on the rings.
>>37617310
i hope you mean index, because thats nearly a tricep closegrip bench
Depends on the size of the lifter. General rule is: narrow grip works tris more and vise versa.
>tfw you wanna bulk and lift, but you should probably cut and cardio
Please, is there any "fun form" of cardio that isnt a chore to do? Day 3 of bike and eliptical and im already bored to death.
>>37617259
scream nigger in the hood
great cardio, and not boring at all
Listen to podcasts
Sprints are fun to me. When I'm out on the road I use electrical poles to guide my sprints, so I'll sprint to one then rest until I reach the next one and so on. Turning it into a game can be fun and also challenging.
I don't get why so many people on here actually train for strengh. It's the dumb.
When are you ever going to actually use it? Seriously?
Posters will say
>to impress girls, I don't want to be asked to lift something and not be able to and look like a pussie.
Well in a way you are saying you lift for other people.
>I lift for myself and my own health
SS and lifting heavy really isn't near as healhty and active as a more frequent routine with more cardio. Lifting heavy for years will eventually fuck up your joints even with proper form. Enjoy being able to dead 500lbs and also enjoy having a wrecked back as an elder.
Think I'm kidding?
>I don't want to be weak
Stop compensating. No one realy cares about how much you can lift other than faggots who do SS. Seriously they are the worst type of lifters and think numbers actually mean something in life. If you aren't a professional powerlifter why actually try to lift so much?
You aren't realy using your strengh ever
And no bein strong does not mean being a better fighter.
I think all peope who do SS do it just so they can feel some sort of joy about themselves. They are usually ugly and fat but as long as they are "strong" and have "muh function strengh" then they are happy with thier lives despite never being able to use thier strengh.
I do it for martial arts. Yeah I know I will never become pro but it's fun and I like it so fuck you.
Why are you on /fit/ if you are not interested in fitness?
>>37617230
>I think all peope who do SS do it just so they can feel some sort of joy about themselves.
desu as an aesthetic lifter i do it for the exact same reason
this cringey powerlifter vs otherlifters bullshit needs to go
>>37617230
The train of thought on this issue is that strength begets size.
Being stronger means heavier weights. Heavier weights mean more tension on your muscles. More tension means greater stimulus to build muscular size.
