There are millions of people, right now, who can't stop shoving food in their fat faces while I'm struggling to acquire an appetite so I can maintain my muscle mass
How do fatties do it?
drink a half gallon of milk everyday, its not hard tbqh
fatties do it by eating a shit load of unhealthy high calorie food because they are disgusting
>>37771019
Hmm... good idea - thanks bro

Nice trips
mind if I jerk off to this later
Hi /fit/ I don't normally browse this board so please bear with me, and before I ask my question, yes I have read the sticky.
Now I'm a skinny fat guy; man boobs (I'm pretty sure I have some mild gyno), woman like hips, and a decent gut.
From my understanding is need to either cut, or bulk. Now I'm leaning fairly towards cutting, but I'll post pics of myself for you guys to judge.
But I have a couple of questions, I understand that in order to become fit I must do a decent amount of cardio and strength training. Along with a proper diet of course.
Now for my cardio I decided to go for the couch to 5k plan, as I honestly can't run for shit.
Now for my strength training I have no idea where to begin. I looked at starting strength, but the program appears to incorporate a caloric excess and emphasizes lift progress. Which is fine and all, but if I were to cut first (and I really think I should) how would I go about doing this?
Obviously I should opt for a caloric deficit, but do I continue doing the starting strength program? Or should I do something else?
I'm sorry if you guys have seen this post a million times before I apologize, please bear with me as I have literally never been to a gym.
I'll continue to ask more questions as I post my pics. If you can answer them I would really be grate full. If not, I hope I didn't offend you, and I hope you have a nice day.
So for a guy who is 5 10 and 210 pounds, I understand that I need to eat about 210 grams of protein and I need to eat about 75-100 grams of carbs (if I want to cut).
Do I have those numbers right?
I also understand that as my weight decreases and increases I need to readjust those numbers.
Here is the first picture for you guys to weigh in on if I should cut or bulk.
>>37770476
If you're a skinnyfat beginner, my recommendation is to eat at maintenance or slightly above (like 200-300 calories per day above) with 40% of calories from protein, 30% from fat and 30% from carbs. Weigh and measure your food and be honest about every bite you take, and keep track.
On top of diet, lifting is important. Starting Strength is fine, Stronglifts is fine, but don't bother with either of these for longer than 4 months. Their benefits lie not in building a strength base, but un teaching you the movements for the main lifts. After this you may consider switching routines, but that's another question you'll be able to consider more carefully after 4 months of lifting with concentration on form and eating right.
The key is consistency, so make sure to always watch what you eat, and to push for that progressive overload (increase in intensity either by more weight, more reps or more power) with each successive lifting session.
Good luck.

I'm far beyond being able to double overhand my deadlift. So naturally I'm using a different grip style. However, I'd still like to develop my grip strength as much as possible, but still deadlift heavy. Between the hook grip, alternating grip and using straps, which one develops your grip strength the most? I currently use alternating grip, but I've seen that cause muscle imbalances in people, so I want to use something else. I'm stuck deciding between hook grip and straps. Any unbiased suggestions?
All suggestions will be biased based on the poster's experience.
That being said, I use mixed grip for my heaviest sets, but double overhand and then hook grip for all sets working up to the heaviest.
Hook is good because it still works your forearms but it does allow you to hold heavier weight.
Straps may be good, but this is where my bias comes out, I've never been able to use them effectively, and I never have the patience to continue practicing with them because I'd rather just get my heavy deadlifts done in a way that I already know works.
People will give me shit for this, as well, but it's not the worst thing in the world to wear gloves for a heavy deadlift; it will allow you to continue training your grip and help you hold more without having to change your grip.I don't wear gloves anymore, but I did when I first started lifting, and while in general I prefer lifting without them, for deadlifts and pull-ups with heavy weight, they were pretty good.
For reference, I'm a natural bodybuilder, been lifting for a few years, mostly for recreation and then aesthetics.
My heaviest deadlift was 565 for 2 at bodyweight 216.
My current deadlift is 425 for 5 at 187 pounds.
Not OP, but bumping. I've got back issues, so when I start slowly moving into deadlifts again, i'll only progress with double overhand
Would still be interesting to read a detailed response

I'm a recovering skellington who's on break from uni from the summer. I need a cheap gym to go to until September
So I'm asking. Is Planet Fitness worth the $10/month? They seem to have all the weights I need and nobody to use them if only fatties go
Anyone actually been to a PF? Are the lunk alarm memes true? Is there a cheap but decent gym anywhere in Southern California? Or am I asking too much?
Definitely. I love going to Planet Fitness! All the staff are nice and very helpful. It's a safe environment to exercise in ; there is no shaming and it's a non-intimidating environment to be in! At the price of $10, who wouldn't? Not to mention, FREE PIZZA for a recovering skelly like you!
>>37770175
PF seems to be a $10/month buffet with free weights thrown in
I'm not finding any reasons to not sign up desu
Great place! Just remember, no tanks since you may oppress someone when your arms are showing! Also, doing any sort of real lifting may intimidate others in the gym, so be sure not to work hard at all.

Bench press. 1 year. Actually finally got the perfect form down last week and my lifts feel so much more stable now.
Before I would send my bar path fucking everywhere and I'd always feel a little out of control. Now my bar path is solid and the weight is still heavy but easier to move.
T bar rows like 3 monthsi didnt realise i was standing way too straight
