So I started running/walking everyday because I have a wedding party coming up -- using pokemon go to monitor how far I run. So is 3-4 k a day decent? I'm like 160 lbs., am 5'4'' (manlet, I know), and have around 2 weeks left.
Also, is it a huge difference between running and walking to lose weight? I probably do half and half so far.
>>38126733
buddy, don't expect any kind of huge gains in 2 weeks. No matter how much you run. I am 5'4" 142 lbs and it took me 2 months to get from 160 to 142. Fat dosen't suddenly melt off when you start running, it takes months and it differs based on the individual. Focus on your diet more than anything, and try to set small goals for yourself. It'll help in the long run.

*it took me 2 months to get to 150, and then another 1-2 to 140

It's all about that heart rate. The higher you get that hear rate, and the longer you can hold it, the better your results will be.
Sorry about you being 5'4" m8

local gym, home gym.
You can start a home gym for under $500 if you have a garage, and then invite your bros over to lift with you.
Have you ever cried on the gym, /fit/?
No, to preoccupied with lifting.
I used to think of angry and depressing shit that happened to me in my life to lift harder but now I just focus intensively on the muscle(s) I'm working.
No but there's been a few times Ive been too depressed to carry on. Like the depression actually drains you of physical energy half way through a workout.
I just felt so bleak about living, looked back at the weights and though "why even go on".
Funny enough it was when I didnt bother with my music. I think I need it to drown out my own thoughts.
Also why I cannot sleep.

anyway, I do pic related to fuel my gains
Hi /fit/, software engineer from /g/ here. I'm so sick and fucking tired of x people telling me x different things.
I've grown a gut sitting in front of a PC all day. Now, I cant run for shit since i run out of stamina in 350m and fall down 'dead'.
Is power walking good for fat burning? I can power walk for 10 miles a day no problem in less than 2 hours.
>>38125706
Id recommend couch to 5k if you want to do long distance running. If you have access to a pool you can swim for your cardio. Power walking is good if you're literally an obese hamplanet, otherwise there are much better options. Pic related is also an option.
Side note, I'm about to graduate as a software engineer and have not had any internships or work related experience, do you have any advice for me to help me get me headed in the right direction?
It's all about progress. Don't get scared away because you can only keep up 350m. Try to do a little more distance every time you go running. Also. Try HIIT
>>38125706
Do Couch to 5K, no joke. Really big with the software engineering crowd for whatever reason (that's how i heard about it).
Bigger question is whether your running for fitness/stamina or running to lose weight. If the former, great. If the latter, look at your diet. Running (on its own) is not a time-efficient means of weight management/reduction.
Sup /fit/, /k/ visiting.
I need your help. I would like to devise a morning workout routine that takes about 1/2 an hour that can be done in a reasonably small space - 15ft by 15ft and without weights or anything else.
Help needed urgently, will reward you with /k/ related pics and insults.

How bad is it to substitute more weight for more reps?
I'm doing SS and I don't always have access to a gym. The weight I have at home isn't quite enough, but I can still tire myself out if I do 10-12 reps instead of 5.
10-12 reps is still decent for training, just make sure to really contract your muscles and make it count.
>>38125576
On ss your progressive overload comes from adding weight.
Lower reps = more strength = adding weight fadter and more consistently = more prog overload = much faster gains
Highet reps trains more muscular endurance, and less muscular strength.
You will not add weight as quick.
If you train to lifta heavy weight a few times, you will unsurprisingly get better at lifting heavier weights for a few times.
If you train to lift not as heavy weight more times, you get better at lifting not as heavy weight more and more times.
Tl;dr: hold off on progressing with higher reps until you are intermediate and the noob gains slow
>>38126643
10-12 reps is technically fine for growth.
Not fine for a novice LP, least of all SS

>tfw hamstrings and lower back too inflexible to do this
I've done bodyweight routines for years, and switched to strong lifts about 4 months ago. In that time, I've twice tweaked my back when doing squats. I'm sure it's because of crap form, but I'm wondering if there's anything else to it.
Looking at symmetric strength (pic related), my deadlift is far weaker than my other lifts. I know I could be diddlying more than I am right now, I've just been following SL and so haven't advanced far yet.
I'm considering deloading significantly on squats and focusing on my deadlift, theory being that strengthening my posterior chain will help me maintain form on the squat. Any thoughts on this?
Barbell training is far more dangerous than given credit for on the internet. I'd wager the vast majority of people who are using barbells for linear progression will suffer a severe injury at some point in time.
The fact that major injuries with barbell training is common is underepresented on the internet because many of the communities that discuss lifting bar or shun discussing injuries which gives onlookers the mistaken belief that injuries are uncommon. This cycle is propelled by the fact that there's shitloads of money to be made off teenage idiots who want to appeal to the opposite sex and there are no shortage of fitness experts willing to indulge them. It could take several months to years before they suffer their first major injury -- just long enough to keep a steady supply of memeing retards available to shun anyone who dares speak negatively of their newfound method of looking more appealing to the opposite sex.
You're much better off doing many different forms of lifting and not following a linear progress barbell routine, from a staying injury free standpoint. And when you become jacked, then switch to a barbell heavy routine.
Don't fall for the meme. Very few people can train themselves how to properly use barbells. Most of those guys you see at meets have been training their whole lives and have learned first hand from fellow experts in person.
>>38125440
Poor form, weak core, lack of mobility.
>>38125615
> Start lifting seriously only after you become jacked
Verbal diarrhea. Just ignore this faggot. You have to lift to become better at lifting. If you are getting injured, deload significantly and learn how to do it properly before reloading.
Hey I probably have alcoholic liver disease, I have been drinking for 4 years or so and I have liver pain.
I haven't been to the doctor to confirm this because I don't have insurance. I am going to the dentist soon and there's a health history page I need to fill out before I go and it is asking weather I have liver disease, should I just fill it in and say yes just in case even if it's not confirmed? Is that legal?
Like I said it hasn't been formally diagnosed but I don't want to take chances, I know it can affect blood clotting and if I need a tooth pulled I could bleed to death
B-bump
>>38125425
Loool, go to the doctor OP. That liver pain could be a number of things completely unrelated to your alcoholism. But u need to be sure, and not self diagnosis.
