Why does Couch to 5k make such a strange leap in week 5? It goes from three sessions of 5 minutes each up to running for 20 minutes straight by the end of the week, then goes back down to 5-8-5 minutes. Any runners shed light on this?

TLDR: Preserving gains under strain?

Started a trade job 6 months ago. A lot of joint strain, but little real exercise.(e.g. kneeling for 8 hours, craning back in odd ways to reach things) Weird schedule means I'd be lucky to get 6 hours of sleep on an average night.

Finding it pretty difficult to do much aerobic or get good sets in with sore knees, wrists, etc. Gained ~30 pounds so far. Not really sure what to do here besides the appointments I scheduled.

In a "last two digits determines days of nofap thread" I rolled 84. I decided to take it a step further and stack some more challenges because of the desperate situation I was in.

I have just achieved 1 month of

>noPillow
>cold showers 5 mornings per week
>no cigs
>no drinking to excess (3+ drinks in one sitting)
>gym 4-5x per week
>HIIT 3x per week
>Intermittent Fasting
>no junk food

Noticed huge changes in will power and improvement with general happiness levels. I have much higher energy levels now despite not waking up past 6:00am anymore (except weekends). Also, been noticing much more IOIs from girls lately. I struck up a conversation with a girl at the water fountain and got her number (first time in over a year) from the gym and after texting for a few days we are now going to get coffee or grab a bite to eat on Sunday.

Why do you guys recommend 3x5, 5x5, compounds, etc. when most military establishments focus on calisthenics and running? Is it just because there's a higher risk of injury? Practicality?

What do you do when other gym members or PT try to give you unsolicitated and most of the time bullshit advice regarding your form/program?

Situation from today

>Have to switch gyms from a local small place to a big commercial gym
>New gym have bunch of roided PTs who only do machines and always give their clients horrible isolation based bro splits
>do a set of low bar squats
>315lbs for reps
>huge, bald dude with no legs lumbers next to you and virtually starts shouting
>what the fuck are you doing? do you want to fuck your shit up? this isn't squat, keep your torso upright, ask for advice if you don't know what are you doing!

he vanished before I even got a chance to speak. whatever man I thought and continued to 3,5pl8. I still felt his gaze at my back throughout the entire workout. and this is not even the first time, a while back some other guy told me to keep my entire back flat while benching. I'm seriously considering changing gyms, people look on me like I'm an alien when I as much as mention powerlifting
