I love beer so much I work for and bartend at a brewery.
That said, I actually don't drink that much compared to my coworkers. I'm literally surrounded by free bar all day, but I only drink if I'm not lifting that day and even then, it's rarely more than 1 beer. I guess, it's all about prioritizing. I only drink if I have nothing productive planned for the rest of the day, including lifting, study, errands, etc.
One beer isn't going to destroy your gains, but I wouldn't recommend having more than a couple beers a week if you're fitness-minded.

Was doing SS off and on for a while with great results while bulking. I would love to continue to powerlift and believe barbell training is best but my SS workouts were starting to take at least and a hour and a half not including travel time, shower time, protein shake time or any of that. I hated that and I dont have that time so I quit for a while.

I have recently been into bodyweight stuff because I can do a routine in my apartment and be out the door in less then an hour. After building a strong base in SS, I am primarily looking for aesthetic results especially in upper body as SS did my lower body right with squats already.

Any advice on how to maximize aesthetic gains with bodyweight fitness. Right now just following the recommended routine progressions on reddit but was gunna eventually modify them to be more bodybuilder esque with higher amount of sets, more reps, and less rest time. Let me know what you guys think. Also including bodyweight curls / chinups of course and maybe tricep dips.

Also any hope for a powerlifting program that wont take 3 hours out of my day or is that just something I will have to revisit when I have more free time / live closer to gym. I know I could just rest less or something like that but that weakens my gains and i'm not powerlifting to scimp on gains.

You're looking for high rep low rest exercise where you take advantage of leverage to make it harder.

Most bodyweight programs have progressions, so it's quite easy to find a level at where you will be sufficiently challenged and can get a bodybuilder like workout, if that's what you want.

A quick review of what I've noticed after lifting for a few months.

First, some background. I started with SS but have modified it a little since then, my routine is loosely:

Day A:

Squat 3x5
Overhead Press 3x5
Rows 3x5

Day B

Squat 3x5
Bench 3xUntil Fail (Starts at about 7-8, then 4-6, then 2-3 - I consider this one set.
Pull ups 3xUntil Fail (starts at about 10, then 5-7, then 3 - I consider that one set)

Now what I've noticed is that I seem to get better results from taking something I can barely do 5 reps of, lowering the weight, and then doing slow, controlled reps until fail each set.

It feels better, seems like it works better, and makes it so that I am confident I am not compromising my form.

Others think you should be doing as much weight you can rep in three sets of five. I disagree.

Discuss.

tl;dr I think slightly less weight, more controlled reps (no more than 10, that means you need more weight) are more effective.

for a decade now i've had a horrible mental fog. the closest thing i could compare it to is CFS. it has got progressively worse i used to be able to wake up from it 3 or 4 hours into the day. then maybe 8 or so hours. now i'm lucky if i wake up from the fog all day at all. i feel less awake everyday.

it's completely destroyed what life i could have had. my teenage years are over now and i've spent them doing nothing. i have not even messaged my irl friends in ages. every morning- today is the day i'm going to wake up from this fog! cold shower, brush teeth etc. then it's already noon, then before i know it the time is 10pm time to sleep and i had not felt like doing anything.

i can't shake it off, i've tried everything. getting into a routine starting my morning with a cold shower. finding things for me to look forward to and responsibilities to motivate me etc. i am more motivated than anyone i just can't get rid of this brain fog. it caused me to drop out of highschool because i could not focus.
the rare moments where i felt better i had to spend studying for the GED.

a doctor prescribed me cymbalta for depression which i don't believe i have.
and a different doctor prescribed me adderal to help wake me up in the morning. i've even tried going gluten free etc. i've tried whey etc, no matter how many scoops nothing helps me.

this is not even my only major health problem. i have pretty bad scoliosis and my lungs can potentially collapse again. i could have got the preventive surgery for it and have went back to lifting, but i can't enjoy lifting anyway either.

it's completely robbed me of everything. i have not even played video games. my mind is too dull and i'm not competitive enough. i need something and i don't know what. most of my doctors have given up on me and so has my family like i said, i have more motivation than anyone. i want to finish my GED and i don't want to be a loser /fit/.

Anyone here have a receding hairline? I've been told there's "mature hairline" or male pattern baldness.

So far I'd thought I had the former, but after analyzing my hairline, it really looks like the corners near the temple are much thinner than the center. Can anyone offer advice on products or techniques to restore/prevent hairloss? Any help is appreciated!
