if everyone on /fit/ was put in a steel cage and forced to fight to the death I would easily be the last man standing, genuinely
i sit here sometimes looking at the smart arse posts you little redditors and neets make and just chuckle to myself because if you ever said anything like that to my face (as if you would dare) you could literally be eating pavement in under a second

Thinking you would last because of height and weight alone, : not skill :
Kys fatty
I started at the gym today. Before doing so, I've spent a week or two reading Starting Strength, looking at Mark Rippetoe's videos (the ones he did with Art of Manliness and the ones from the official SS channel), etc. I trust his method because to me it seems like he knows the shit he's talking about, and SS is like a biblebook around here, so I don't see why I shouldn't use his method.
But today, I started at the gym and the monitor or however you wanna call it, kept giving me pointers opposite to what Starting Strength says. Examples:
SS:
>Toes pointed out.
>Don't do anything in front of a mirror as it fucks your posture.
>Look down the floor while squatting.
>The back angle should be horizontal to load up the weight. Says there's no health risk while doing so. "Point at the floor with your nipples"
>Don't think about your chest, just about "dragging your ass up and down"
>Don't go too deep, just a bit below the parallel.
Gym monitor:
>Toes straight.
>Do it in front of the mirror.
>Look up to the wall while squatting.
>Your back angle should be straight to avoid injuries.
>Think about straightening up your back while squatting.
>Go down deep.
Is my monitor wrong? Is SS wrong? What should I do?
Starting Strength is just in English and it's not known at my country, so hard to just show him the book.
>>38605886
>Don't do anything in front of a mirror as it fucks your posture.
It's better to squat without a mirror, but it doesn't really matter too much.
>Look down the floor while squatting.
Not what SS says, look at a point foward that's slightly down.
>The back angle should be horizontal to load up the weight. Says there's no health risk while doing so. "Point at the floor with your nipples"
Misinterpreting what SS says, he just wants you to have a slightly smaller angle between the hips and femurs, shouldn't be anything too extreme and if your hips are shooting up first when you squat you're doing it wrong, that's not hip dravh.
>Don't think about your chest, just about "dragging your ass up and down"
You shouldn't do this, "chest up" is a terrible cue and anyone who tells you to do it is bad.
>>38605886
>Toes straight
Very few people have the flexibility to do this, beginners definitely don't. It's a good way to injure yourself. Point your toes out, it's fine.
>Do it in front of the mirror.
Optional. Some people prefer it.
>Look up to the wall while squatting
Head and neck should be neutral/in line with the rest of your spine.
>Your back angle should be straight to avoid injuries
Depends on high bar/low bar, but everyone will have different degrees of lean depending on their proportions. Low bar has more forward lean, find what's comfortable to you. There's definitely too many people propagating that the "back should be completely straight no matter what", because it simply doesn't work for some people.
>Think about straightening up your back while squatting.
Kind of works. I guess a similar cue is pushing your back into the bar when ascending. There are a bunch of cues to pick from, find some that work for you.
>Go down deep.
For high bar you can go lower. You should find a "natural" turning point once you've been squatting for a while.
>look at a point foward that's slightly down.
I know, my mistake by not wording it correctly, I didn't mean looking straight down.
>shouldn't be anything too extreme and if your hips are shooting up first when you squat you're doing it wrong, that's not hip dravh
I don't really understand "hips shooting up", do you mean like if they move first? Then what "order of movements" is the correct?
>>Don't think about your chest, just about "dragging your ass up and down"
>You shouldn't do this, "chest up" is a terrible cue and anyone who tells you to do it is bad.
Not sure if you misread me or I worded it badly. I referred to what he talks about in the first minute or so of this video: https://youtu.be/QhVC_AnZYYM
Can we get a Tinder thread going? I'm at work so I don't have anything to contribute really apart from OC.
Just had my first match on Tinder, wat do guys?
Also to keep it /fit/ related, how have you found Tinder improved since getting /fit/, do you have any shirtless pics on there?
Step one: be handsome
Step two: don't be ugly
There you go, enjoy the rancid tinder pissy

Women like pics that exhibit your personality. Pics of you doing something. Something that exhibits that you're not a total fucking autist. That being said, show off your gains as much as possible in the pictures without seeming desperate
>>38605868
I put up a pic of me in a boxing match looking ripped. It shows I'm not an autist and it was a good way to show off my abs.
>>38605856
It's been 8 months in cocoon mode Famalam, I need some rancid pussy.
how are those face exercises treating you /fit/?
that's not a progress pic that's just a dude pulling his tongue to the back of his mouth
I like pull and massage my lower jaw with my hands and quietly whisper "grow, grow, grow".
>>38605746
am that dude can confirm
will removing deadlift and focusing on rows and pullups hinder my back development? obviously yes for lower back, but the upper portion? goal is aesthetics and i dont think highly developed lower back is necessary for it.
>>38605716
No, but why remove deadlifts?
Deadlifts working your back is like 25% of the lifts benefits.
You're removing the other 75% (quads, hamstrings, glutes, forearms) and only worrying about the other 25% (lower back)
Deadlifts help your whole body develop, not just the primary movers.
Life is such a scam if you're a non Chad. The framework of society is a demoralising scam.
You get the best results at your school and then go to a university filled with women. You go outside because it's the hottest and sunniest day of the year and the streets near the university are filled with attractive girls your age. Every single girl sees you as a "creep" because you don't have the correct face genetics. You look around at all the girls and you know that they appreciate the sun buy are mostly obvious to anything other than social media, that party last night, and tonight's party, where you're not invited.
You go to the beach on one of the few (less than 5) days of the year that it's usable and see the same friend groups. You're completely locked out. If you didn't have friends beforehand or make friends during the handful of social opportunities where it's deemed acceptable then you're an outcast. Being outside is humiliating
Of course everybody knows that all girls are desperate for sex with Chads, due to the numerous Tinder experiments. You are seen as (and treated as if you are the same as) a subhuman if you aren't a stereotypical Chad.
Stop feeling sorry for yourself.
Have you ever considered that it might be you, not society, that's the problem?
Girls dont like you because you post shit like this
how do i achieve captain america mode?

did he hold himself back with his toes during that split second? Was there a pause in the helicopter drag right there and then?

It is if your back is weaker than your legs since it shifts the focus.
Has anyone ever seen any statistics on how many people in the country lift or at least eat healthy and are athletic? Any country would do. I've seen plenty of information on the fats, but not on the /fit/.

Why should I lift weights when big titty blonde women like skinny guys? You have ten seconds to convince me.

The 4chan phallacy:
>if a picture is taken with a woman and a man, they are a couple
>if there are several people, they all bang
>if there is a black man in the picture, every white man in the picture is a cuck and every woman is a blacked whore
>if there is one girl and two men, the taller man is her boyfriend, and the shorter man is a manlet virgin

I get unbearable wrist pain when doing bicep curls with EZ-bar and straight bar. How do I mitigate this? Has anyone found a solution?
Wrist wraps?
Hi, same thing here. I broke my right wrist a few years ago. For the first 3-4 months of lifting, anything with a bar caused pain.
I bought a pair of these & they work wonders
https://www.amazon.com/Adjustable-Protector-Weightlifting-Powerlifting-Bodybuilding/dp/B00RBH3UKW/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1473182979&sr=8-5&keywords=wrist+wraps
It's been 2 years and I still don't curl or do triceps with a straight bar, however
>>38605400
Film yourself and make sure you aren't using one arm more than the other, when I get fatigued I'll start to use my right arm more which puts my left arm in a weird position and causes wrist pain. Also focus on keeping your chest up and your elbows pinned to your sides. Might need a deload as well.
Opinions on steroids? Have a friend thinking of taking small doses.
If you live someplace where they're legal and tested and sold by a proper authority as well you are comfortable with regular doctor visits and have lots of disposable income, I'd strongly consider it.
Ordering illegal shit off the internet from a shady source and having questionable healthcare and are a poorfag? Fuck no. And you won't impress or fool anybody by pretending, either.
>>38605247
At least, nobody worth impressing, that is.
>>38605172
Steroids are magic. I did a beginner cycle and gained 30lbs in 4 months. Recovery is stupid quick, you could lift twice a day if you chose to. I was squatting heavy 4 days a week and deadlifting heavy 3 days. Gym only 5 days a week, I'm sure I couldve gotten bigger if I went more.

Hi /fit/, overweight Asian fucktard from /g/ here. 78kg, 165cm. I'm trying to get started with some basic cardio to force myself to move everyday, then gradually move into strength. I have ample free time for this now that I'm awaiting graduation and currently unemployed. Is low intensity / LISS training a good place to start or high intensity / HIIT ? I've read the wiki and it's recommended but I don't want to get memed. Thanks. Goal is losing weight / to not feel like shit everyday . Have a pic related of my muse.
