What does /fit/ think of stronglifts (especially w/r/t their app)?

I've done a tiny bit of gym shit in the past, like using machines and stuff, but since moving to my uni gym, which is mostly free weight based, I've realized I'm gonna have to move over to using free weights if I'm gonna get anywhere (which is something I've wanted to do anyway, cuz they're just more effective).

But obviously I'm not sure where to start. I know its a strength programme, but will there be any aesthetic gain from using it? Is the app good or does it have problems? If it is shit, then what else should I do (what are my alternatives)?

Just do SS. What the fuck do you even need an app for when doing a linear beginners program. Just do the same shit every time but with more weight.

Muscle is muscle. Do SS and read the fucking book. If people actually read it they would read the chapter about assistance and then they wouldn't babble about trex mode and "is SS a meme???".

A: squats, bench/ohp, pullups
B: squats, ohp/bench, deadlift
C: squats, bench/ohp, pullups

Everything 3x5. Add rows 2x12 every other time and curls or any arm work whenever. If you're not getting aesthetic on this then it's probably because you're having shit genetics or you're not doing the program.

How to get in shape for the army? Would 5x5 3 days a week and then running 1.5 miles on my off days be good enough?

I'm in the army right now and this is my advice.

Just focus on endurance training and running long distances.
In the army noone fucking cares what your bench is or how much you can squat.

Run atleast 5km a day and do endurance training for your muscles in the gym.

This guy gets it. RN myself, no one will ever test you on "strength". Running for vast distances is all that matters. Ideally you want excellent cardio ability with light weight for climbing etc, but enough to carry gear.

Just go running every day for as many km's as you as you can stand. Maybe wear a backpack filled with we clothes.

Also run 3 miles not 1.5. Otherwise 1.5 will always be a chore.

No, you need more than just multivitamins.
Besides that, your body will burn your muscles first and try to refrain from using up your isolating fat deposits as long as possible, so you'll end up weak and depleted.
Just eat at a deficit, keep lifting, and have patience. You'll lose the weight.

So my gym attendance is dropping since medschool got harder and the hours more restrictive so I decided to something about that and bought bars, dumbells and weights and set up a itty bitty home gym.
I can't obviously bench press or shit like that at home and that has me worried.
Any thoughts on a full body routine using only what I have at hand?
Overhead press, standing rows, deadlifting, squats, what else?

I'm not the most experienced guy. But ever consider bodyweight exercises with a weighted vest?

Pushups situps squats and pull ups are all you really need, and you can work different muscle groups with some variation on the above 4 exercises.

The only one you May need gear for is the pullups but the rest can be done without any gear. Maybe substitute that for supermans. Then all you need gear wise is space.
