Why is the price of casein protein basically the same as whey protein? (even from 'bulk' suppliers like bulk nutrients)

Why is there so much more whey than casein?

82% of protein is casein, the rest whey.

What do protein manufacturers do with the all that extra casein? There clearly seems to be a lot more whey around despite milk containing 4.5x more casein than whey.

Whey is fast digesting protein, Casein in slow digesting. Whey is used after workouts, which is typically when most people would have any kind of protein shake whatsoever. "Normies" and people just starting into fitness don't realise Casein before bed is good for you. They don't care; they 'work hard' in the gym and want the instant gratification of whey protein to make the most of it, because they've been told that if they don't get fast digesting protein in during the magical anabolic window then all that hard work is for literally nothing.
Whey protein is in high demand because any and everyone getting into fitness is told it's essential. Supply is high to meet the high demand, and price has settled at what it is. Casein protein has a lower demand so, despite it being cheaper to supply than whey, it wouldn't be beneficial to supply as much because demand wouldn't meet it. There would be product left over that would go off or never sell. Supply is lower so price is higher.

Hey /fit/ I'm gonna be straight up about this, I want to lose weight to get a twink-like appearance. I currently weigh 185 pounds and am 5'10". I want to get my weight down to the 130-140 range so I can get to the look I want. I don't really work out so I need some advice in that category as well. Should I change up my diet? What routines should I do? Just give me a bunch of advice.

Also swap unhealthy meals for meals that you actually like. Don't eat broccoli and chicken if you can't actually stand it. Trust me it's the best way to stick to a diet if your a weak willed fatso like me.

Try to aim for a caloric deficit of 200-300. No extreme crash diet that leaves you feeling like you're dying.

The change in your diet should be something you can stick to for life, not some extreme 3-4 week cut.

Is it possible for /fit to help me start being fit? I want some advice, cause i want to be more than average guy.

The general consensus; 1g protein per lb lean bodyeweight; complex carbs from whole wheat sources, avoid all refined carbs and sugars except sugars from fruit; limit saturated fats in favor of unsaturated fats. Limit dietary cholesterol and sodium.

Honestly though, there have been a shitload of studies saying that dietary cholesterol doesn't increase blood cholesterol, saturated fats don't lead to clogged arteries while others say fat leads to diabetes so I don't know what the fuck to believe.

Just cut junkfood, soda, processed shit, sugars while eating lean meat, lots of vegetables and fruit and complex carbs and you should be fine.

You start working out over a shitty girl that never liked you.

You run into a few people at the gym and make friends.

They tell you of /fit/ and to read the sticky.

You do SS and GOMAD for a little while and look up YouTube videos.

You sit back on your days off and enjoy the memes on /fit/. The antics of all the posters when Scooby came to town and bro comedy.

You see a post saying 4 scoops cmon.

So you look into it and see all the mutant videos.

You start noticing all the mutant gear people bring to the gym. You think it's funny.

The fit expo is coming to your town, you go. You see the wealthy piano himself. You shake his hand. You tell him 4 scoops cmon, you both awkwardly chuckle. You can tell he's annoyed but keeping a good attitude. You laugh and look kinda towards the ground but decided to just go check out other vendors at the expo. You still remember that handshake.

You see a lot more wealthy piano memes and even do your own 8 hour arm day. Life is good, but then you look up

You see him gliding away, slowly. You think, oh wait, he's not actually leaving, he's just gliding on for a bit. Everything's fin, but then, moments later, he pulls away and leaves us behind.

Not OP but as a child I was abused by all the other kids for my whole time at school.

Even even after becoming a popular guy afterwards and from the outside developing normal social skills, I still have zero self confidence.

Is it ever possible to un-just yourself?

Hey Fit

I've been following Rip Toe's 5x5 starter strength for a few months now and have gone from 149KG (330 pounds) to 129kg (284 pounds) and I’m chasing some advice/recipes.

Here are my questions:

1) When should I change my routine and to what? As stated I'm doing the starting strength with a few additions (see below) and have been told the natural progression should be to start the Texas method soon. What are your recommendations? Should I look into the Texas method or an alternate program?

Day A
Squat 5 reps x 3 sets
Bench Press 5 reps x 3 sets
Deadlift 10 reps x 1 set
Assisted Dips 10x2 Sets
Hammer curls 10x3 Sets
Cardio on stair machine for 1 hour

Day B
Squat 5 reps x 3 sets
Military Press 5 reps x 3 sets
Deadlift 10 reps x 1 set
Assisted Pull ups 10x2 Sets
Cardio on stair machine for 1 hour

2) Been trying to get 140grams of protein in per day while trying to keep saturated fats low, do you have any recipe recommendations? At the moment diet looks like this:

breakfast: 1 cup of oats with milk

Lunch: either last night’s dinner or a chicken teriyaki on wheat
no cheese no sauce all salads with avocado from subway

Dinner: baked chicken breast(seasoned with moroccan or pesto) with veggies and brown rice

Snacks through the day are cans of tuna or jerky

Lastly got to say thank you for all the info so far in the sticky and thank you for any info you share tonight.

Oh yes and lifting, 3 months now with free weights and two months we shall forget about when I was a noob using nothing but machines. Legs are still getting stronger but I'm struggling to get better with arms. I was told by a body building friend that my protein intake had been insufficient so I've been trying to up that over the last 2 weeks. So far It seems to have helped a bit, M/Press seems to have become a little steadier now and I can get up to 8 reps on the final set now but still can't get to the 50kg rung.
