Hi /fit/, how many of you started being a skinny weakling neet and ended up being fit?
I'm on the spooky mode right now, and I need help.

I was somewhat spooky when I started, but was always fairly athletic up until middle school, then video games became my life. Turned skinny-fat, literally chugged cherry coke by the 2-liter.

Bench started at about 85x5. DL was 150x5. Squat was about 120x5.

After 16-17 months of PP/PPL/TM Im at 285/410/500 1RM now. 5'9 manlet.

Im still fat but im down to 188lb from 295lb @6.0ft like 3 years ago. Never thought id be able to cut to 250lb never mind sub 200lb

Hoping to end this year at 180lb, then its time reevaluate, should i cut more to 170/165 before lifting.

Its taking me a long time but i realised 18 mnths ago this was a lifestyle change. Some of you guys here have helped me stay focused.

/fit/ I don't know who to turn to. I've been a night owl all my life. My college classes starting yesterday make me need to get up at 6am every day. Yesterday I crawled into bed at 10pm and I couldn't sleep. I couldn't fall asleep until 4am, and took a 5 hour nap when I got home. I was so exhausted I couldn't even lift. Today, it's now 2:30am and I still can't sleep. I have to wake up in 3 and a half hours, and physically im exhausted. But mentally my brain won't shut down. What the fuck do I do? Does anyone here have any advice for me ?

that sucks. ive been the same way since 8th grade, and just learned to deal with being tired all the time until i discovered modafinil. my doc prescribed it to me and it helps get me through the day, except now ill go days without sleeping and am pretty sure a major crash is coming soon.

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone knew of a beginner workout series to do at home to get stronger. I can't make too much noise (so no Insanity) and I only really have room for dumbells. Is there a free regimen + videos out there for something like this? I checked the sticky and it didn't have what I was looking for. I'm an average/skinny guy in his early 20's and I've not worked out before.

Advice is greatly appreciated

You're going to gain all the the weight back. It's not reliable. It needs to be a lifestyle rather than a "diet", which implies temporary. Are you going to eat low carb for the rest of your life? Probably not.

Machines were great for me post-hernia surgery, not to mention the wonders that a reverse hyper will do.

However, the problem with machines is that your body doesn't engage the minor stabilizer muscles and you develop your muscles in an unbalanced way compared to compound exercises with free weights.

All that said and the only thing that matters is that you lift heavy things up and put them down. Machines will still get you there, just slower than free weights.

Guys I just fell in love with squats. I think it might be the single greatest exercise you can do. Legs feel great, whole body feels great. Do your squats. I'm going to do them everyday.
