The problem isn't really lifting heavy, supes lifts plenty heavy and actually pushes his limits pretty often.
His problem is that biologically he doesn't really feed himself right, his macros are all fucked up because he relies more on a genetic flaw (His cells convert solar energy) and he can't really train that. He just sort of builds up a tolerance and the inverse square law applies. look up 1000000, he literally lives in the sun for 100 years just to gain 1% power.
If instead his body could just lift and rely on converting food and etc for his powers maybe training would help him, but his strength is sorta different than you're thinking it is.
