The vast majority of you will spend some time now in your younger years going to the gym, becoming moderately fit, looking okay (due to being young guys). Then you'll be busy with school. Then career. Then you'll find a nice girl, get married, have some kids. You'll have your career, marriage, family, mortgage, car payment, etc etc etc and all this 'gym' business will become less and less important, and rightly so. So I wouldn't worry about it too much, just enjoy what you're doing right now.

Hi bois, I recently started watching Scooby videos, since I see him mentioned so often here. In one video he said that the best way to increase testosterone levels was by lifting very heavy weight, with the largest muscles; the quads, and to a lesser extent the pecs. Is this real or a meme? anyone have any related stories or anything?

>>42653555
from what i remember the testerone only increase during the workout session, after you're done the test lvls drops down to your normal lvls, so in the long run it makes no difference
>>
>>42653555
is he bald or something?
>>
>>42653555
yes, big lifts increase testosterone - unfortunately it's a negligible, transient increase that does absolutely nothing for muscle gain or anything else

the whole "do squats and deads to grow your whole body muh test boost thing" is a myth

that fucking retard behind stronglifts, Medhi, actually wrote something to the effect of "if you want big arms, do squats and don't curl" which might be the reason why this shit is resurfacing recently despite there being nothing to support it ever

I want to turn the spare room into an intense training room.

The plan is conditioning equipment, heavy clothing and a way of sucking oxygen out of the room so I can train with low oxygen like the Kenyan runners do.

Any ideas /fit/ as I'm stumped on how to achieve this, maybe seal it air tight and use an a.c. unit?

Scenario ITT:
> You go to a remote area for 2 weeks
> No gym close by
> You don't want to stop training during that time
> You have resistance bands in your bag

What exercises do you pick?
What are the best exercises to replace regular weights in a situation like this?

well, i couldn't replace any of the barbell lifts with resistance bands so there is no real point in trying to replace. I would just try some new shit with them

Can you develop asthma?

I've been running 3x a week for 6 months now and I've in the past month begun noticing trouble breathing when going for hard runs.

Around half a mile in usually it becomes REALLY hard to breath and about a mile in I am gasping for air and often it feels like I'm hardly getting enough in.

This is literally at like an 8-8.5mph pace BTW

I was diagnosed with pulmonary stenosis when I was born, but it was classified as mild to moderate and 3-4 years ago now they told me it was very much mild.

The first few months of running I was absolutely gasping for breath afterwards. I would literally lay on the floor hyper ventilating.

I no longer do that after runs, granted.

Is there something wrong? I don't know what the fuck to do.

Not sure if it's possible to develop it or not, probably is, but you can have exercise induced asthma

I had a grade 1 rectis femoris tear that lead to a grade 2 tear from simply "squatting" my own body weight before it was completely healed. It felt like a rip and getting stabbed with a hot iron poker. Needless to say it was moderately painful. It took a long time to fully recover, but I have not had any problems since then (this type of injury has a very high re-injury rate).

Severe tears are a risk anyone and everyone who power lifts face. The human body is not designed to lift these massive amounts of weight, and through nutrition, supplements, drugs, aggressive training, etc... you can build muscle strength to the point that the muscles are stronger than the other connective tissues... not to mention the wear and tear put on your joints. There are also various connective tissue disorders that can make you more susceptible to these types of injuries.

This is just another reason why power lifting, professional body building and other "strong man" types activities are pretty fucking stupid in the grand scheme of life. There's nothing manly being laid up in a hospital bed, or dying at the ripe age of 47 because you blew out your heart. To each their own...

This is what happens when you overload what your body can handle with a squat suit, knee wraps, and a monolift. Never seen anything this retarded happen in raw.

There's generally no point in cutting as skinny fat. I know it seems counterintuitive but you have to strengthen up first, at the weight you're at you won't be able to shed off all the fat and not look like shit. Also shedding the belly fat will be nearly impossible even if do daily cardio. Gain some muscle first, it's a long journey.

Thread for /fit/izens who want to boost their T and become real men

>"No citizen has the right to be an amatuer in the matter of physical training... what a disgrace for a man to grow old without ever seeing the beauty and strength of which the body is capable" - Socrates

Testosterone levels go down 1% each year= 10% in a decade, in urban men.
http://www.ourstolenfuture.org/newscience/reproduction/2006/2006-1210travisonetal.html

If we don't stop the contamination of our youth, in 20 years we'll have a West of hermaphrodites, defenseless against invading hordes and mentally handicapped like a woman.

On Traditional Cardio:
>Traditional cardio refers to a steady state of intensity that is held for the duration of the session
>At its worst, excess traditional cardio "eats" lean muscle and creates a destructive pattern of slow metabolic rate and a yo-yo'ing body weight.
>Excess traditional cardio leads to muscle loss which inhibits natural hormone production. Aerobic workouts also elevate cortisol levels.
>However, traditional cardio (when done on moderation, for around 45 min per session) improves brain metabolism, grey matter and neurogenesis on the hippocampus (STUDY: Effects of aerobic exercise on brain metabolism and grey matter volume in older adults: results of the randomised controlled SMART trial)
>The best kind of cardio to avoid overtraining is brisk walking or rope jumping (if you have the skills)

ON EJACULATION

>Masturbation itself does nothing, but abstaining for a week does (at day 7 your T is significantly higher, then it returns to baseline)
>Then after 3 weeks of abstaining your T gets somewhat higher
>After that, it's unknown what happens (in people with erectile dysfunction, their T gets lower after 3 months of absence)

>And porn is always bad. (see yourbrainonporn.com)

And the last tips:
>A cold shower is good but not necessary, washing your balls with cold water is enough
>Use loose boxers
This is because, as you may know, your testicles work better at a colder than your average body temperature

>Use a metal flask instead of a plastic bottle (due to BPA and other chemicals)

i'm pretty thin and weak, does anyone have any tips for what exercises to do or how to do them? someone told me to exercise once every two days for different muscle groups, but i'm not completely sure what that means.

basically i'm constructing a workout routine and i need help. i'm going for a mixture of looks and usefulness for the muscles (i'm also tall, but idk if that's relevant)

not op but i started stronglifts 6 weeks ago

been seeing steady progress but i have been reading online that stronglifts is shit for various reasons... should i just stick at it for a few months longer or switch to something a little more complicated that's better generally? apparently there isn't much arm work on stronglifts (although i have noticed my biceps growing considerably seeing as they started from nothing)

Redpill me on exercise ball exercises. Post what ya do and what ball to buy.

I use them as back support for crunches.

Transforms the exercise from barbell-flyes meme-tier to OHP-god tier. You get maybe twice the rom, ZERO (NADA) [صفر] back pain.

Also, I just sit one them and bob up and down in between sets. Makes me look autistic as fuck, but it's reminds me of a simpler time of swings and trampolines.
