Muscle memory is awesome. I even really fucked up my body in the 8 months I was a depressed degenerate druggie, used drugs daily and ate less than 1500kcal a day and when I ate it was shit food mostly high in sugar. It's better than magic.

Why is life so fucking difficult fuck. Has anybody figured out how to overcome the constant struggle and endless barrage of disappointments? I'm 27 and I feel like somewhere along the way I never learned how and everybody around me somehow makes getting through every day seem effortless.

To make a long story short I got into my first fight today ever. Naturally though because of my weak muscles and small size I lost. Wasn't that big a deal I got up and wasn't too hurt.

Here's my problem though. After losing this fight i realized how weak I am. Currently I do Crew (Rowing) as a sport although it mostly exercises your legs and cardio. My parents want me to stick with it, however I feel like I need to do something else in order to build up my upper body strength so I can defend myself properly and not just try and hurt someone with a fucking oar next time I get in a fight. Currently for the last two weeks I've been waking up at 5:30 3 times a week to work out my arms however I'm very limited to what I can do at home and this is the only time I can do it. Over the summer and beginning/middle of fall I did this but I didn't notice much improvement in my strength. I was debating on whether to post this on /adv or /fit but here I am. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Fit is more about lifting weights for aesthetics.

And the vast majority of bodyweight only guys arent big, at all. Bodyweight only doesnt give any additional benefit over lifting weights. onless being able to do cool tricks is your goal. But you could do jsut do a combination of both and have faster and better progress than bodyweight only.

You cant incremently increase weight on BW exercises as you can with BBs/DBs. The progress, muscle and strength wise is slower. and any proper lifting program SHOULD have some bodyweight exercises. And those should be done weighted when they get too easy.
The last issue is that you can barely train legs and lower back with bodyweight only.
