Why would you need a pullup bar when most of you on this japanese anime forum are manlets under 5'6 and could easily just set the squat rack on highest stance and pull up on the bar that's on top of it.

Which martial art should I learn for self-defense?

The context is that I'm working at night, often at weekends, and I'm constantly having to deal with aggressive drunk dudes, as I work in a place surrounded by bars. It's kind of a hostile atmosphere in general, and every week I witness a fight or two so it's a bit unnerving.

I immediately thought of boxing and Krav Maga, but I've been told by people that both are kind of useless in a street fight. I don't need anything fancy or something that takes too long, just something practical.

I'd also appreciate if you guys could dump any material you have about self-defense techniques of any tradition, maybe some literature on muscle memory, good youtube channels and all that.

I started taking DNP yesterday to start losing a bunch of fat I've never been able to get rid of. Its day two and holy shit. I'm pouring sweat and feeling warm all the time. This crap is going to make the next few weeks suck. If it really does burn off half a pound to 2 pounds of fat a day I'll be amazed and very happy.

Anybody else try this stuff?

One thing that doesn't get mentioned often, is how you can smell on it. I'd already taken 2 weeks for vacation, but I'm glad I did. I smell like a bottle of outdated multis. The only thing that covers it is some horse strength ben-gay I have. Not that it's a much more pleasant smell.

Self improvement thread. I'm tired of reading tfw no gf posts and feels posts. In this thread, we all aim to make it. Feel free to post some advice or motivaitonal pics or whatever. I'll be posting life tips and such too.


Improving yourself starts with getting a fucking life.

I assume if you're already here that your lifting already. If your not, then do couch to 5k, a beginner lifting program. Just get in shape. Being in shape and atheletic usually makes your more attractive, even if your mother is the only one who loves your face. Attractive people are treated better than unattractive ones. Pretty self explanatory.

The rest of the components of getting a fucking life include the follwoing

>1. have something going for you.

If your a NEET you should be finding a job or applying to schools. Being a NEET is a dead end in life with no rewards. You should always be working to better yourself through a avenue. Wheter it's working towards a promotion in a job or just finishing school, being doing something to improve yourself in the immediate or long run.

>2. have a hobby.
This means one that isn't lifting. If you want to talk to girls, this also means your hobby shouldn't be a ultra nerdy one like comics or video games. For example, I study history and politics in my spare time because I find it really fascinating. I also write (terribly but it's the thought that counts).

Started lifting in mid-November. I'm 10 kg overweight according to BMI. When I started I had the assisted pull up machine at -70 lbs. Just did a set of 2 unassisted pull ups today. Hooray, progress! Also I've lost 4 kg (10 more to go to my ideal weight).

I like to drink a 16oz can of monster every now and then Mostly after a rough varsity game.
(Maybe two a week at most)

-How does it affect me physically

Used to be a cardio fag, now I want to get back into exercise with weightlifting too. The sticky recommends a barbell routine for novices to build strength, but my campus gym (the only one I can reliably get to) only has dumbbells and machines. It's basically a planet fitness without the lunk alarm and free pizza. However, I'm going to transfer to a university with a full gym next semester. In the mean time, I wanted to make do with what I have and try a Greyskull routine modified with dumbbells and minimal machines. I will be switching to barbell as soon as I have one available, but I'm hoping I'll be able to make SOME gains doing this in the meantime. Some exercise is better than no exercise, right? Let me know if there's something better I substitute in this routine.
