Which exercises, if any, do you lockout in? Also, do you go ass to grass with squats. Not training for strength, but for hypertrophy.

When TRAINING for strength, going ATG can benefit your performance coming out of the bottom of the lift. However when maxing out or performing lower reps, going parallel or slightly lower is your best choice.

For deadlifting, locking out is crucial, otherwise it doesn't count.

probably because that's not typical SS progress, OP

most people don't get near 230 3x5 on bench on SS, too little volume, but you appear to be gifted at benching (your deadlift isn't too great, on the other hand - probably have short limbs)

I ended up LPing right up to a 500lb deadlift using the SS model of 1x5 once a week, but my bench never got past 205 or so for a 1rm

Problem : tomorrow, i'm passing a blood test (to diagnose a suspicious limph node) and the 27th of the month i'll be doing a PET scan.

Could it be a big problem if i'm on DNP ? Especially for the PET Scan since i can wait to pass the blood test before taking any.

anyone here got any experience with VLCDs?

I'm on the end of week one, i enjoy them and i don't feel overly out of energy. I don't feel overly hungry etc and it's going good.


I'm not planning on going back to eating like before, i worked out for four months and enjoyed it but decided i wanted to do this for three weeks or so to get off some fat and then instantly start working out again, it's not a cop out since i enjoy gym and i'm bored to death right now because i can't make the progress. i just want to lose a 10kgs for a better frame of building muscle

You may or may not look like you lift in formal clothing depending on frame, however you will certainly look like you're fit as fuark in well fitted casual clothes.

What's your opinion on this old school routine called 20-rep squats?

The idea is to do only one hard set every few days. Warm up, do a few lighter sets and then you do the work by squatting 20 reps with the waight you used to do around 10 reps with. Each time you reach 20 you add 5-10 pounds next time. The idea is to rest as long as you need between reps. I've got some nice gains from it starting from 180 pounds x 20 and reaching 245x20 in under 3 months. I've been getting heavy doms every time regardless of the small amount of combined work load.

Alan Thrall talked about this once - he said for him, it made him good at squatting for sets of 20 and it helped a bit with carryover to strongman but it actually did very little to increase his total strength (1RM)

Seems like a good idea if you want to build endurance and overall toughness of the mind and body. Might also be nice if you need something new. From what he talked about it doesn't seem -ideal- for building size or strength.
