If you don't want to stand out, avoid staring at people. A lot of new kids like to stare and it's annoying. Just focus on your workout. At the same time, don't be browsing on your phone between sets for minutes. That's annoying as well.

When you start making gains, don't get cocky. You're still a weak bitch and if you get cocky off newb gains then you're going to be the delusional weak bitch. Stay humble.

Greetings /fit/ i'm here to seek advice and tell you a story of failure.

>Fall of 2011, Start lifting for fun (Height: 5'7 Weight: 132lbs)

>Follow random 4-day bro split that fellow gym buddies are doing. Make decent gains the first few months.

>Become more interested in training and nutrition. Start browsing /fit/ as well as other fitness related sites. Decide to do Madcow 5x5.

>Make great gains both in strength and physique. Also reading about training and nutrition everyday. My scientific background helps me further my understanding of it all.

>Tracking macros, gaining weight, following different full body routines.

>2013/2014. Reach 176lbs and feeling joocy.
>Randomly become lazy as fuck
>Old eating habits of 1-2 shitty meals a day return.
>Not following any proper lifting routine and skipping workouts.
>Though still watching and reading fitness related content on my free time.

>2015/2016. Lost a lot of gains. Lifting on and off, but still no consistency in sight. Random spurts of motivation make me go all out for a month or two where I quickly gain, but then return to idleness. Haven't made any progress since the first two years of lifting. Stuck in an infinite cycle of regress and progress. Ultimately looks like regression is winning.

>2017. I'm still here consuming fitness content. Weight is down to 143lbs. Strength is at an all time low (novice level). Physique is somewhat defined but small. Probably been to the gym a total of ~10 times in all of 2017. I know exactly how to proceed in theory to make great gains. I just can't stick to it.


So...WTF is my problem? What psychological issue prevents me from sticking to shit?

Sup /fit/

Just starting up Rippetoe's starting strength workout and had a couple qs

1) I am too weak to do chin ups and dips effectively right now -- what can I do instead to get me ready for these exercises?
I have access to a machine where I can do 'lat pulldowns' -- would that help?

2) I know it says workout 3 times a week but if I have a light work-week and have a lot of free time, can I just work out every day? Or should I stick to only 3 days?

3) My goal is more to lose weight/gain strength than get 'big', is the Rippetoe routine still the right one to do? I like it because it is pretty simple and compound exercises sound good to a newbie like me.

1) Do negative part of chin ups, instead of dips you can just focus on increasing the bench press.

2) Work out every other day, you can do some light cardio on rest days.

3) It's ok but you will gain strength slower while cutting.

Best type of exercises you can do in a small room to lose weight?

i am 120kg and need to lose weight, the issue is that i sit on my ass a lot and gain weight easily because of that without eating much sweet stuff.

Are there any form of exercises that you can do in your home without equipment made to lose weight? Even if it is doing multiple times.


Is it better to exercise a lot continuously for 1-2 hours or do stuff for a few mins every number of hours?

That helps with losing weight right? because i heard that there is a difference between increasing muscle exercises and repetitive exercises who are made for losing weight

Is there any good guide? I dont need much, i just need an example of how the exercises are done and how many sets etc.

Also reminder than i am quite unfit so no way i can do normal pushups in this weight, or at least more than 1-2
