Meal timing question. Yesterday I worked out but forgot to drink a protein shake. I don't think I got very much protein. I woke up at 4AM, drank a protein shake, then went back to sleep until 8AM. Did I lose all my gains? Thanks for your time. Pic unrelated.

It's still worth trying to time intake to get that little boost, but missing it for a day is absolutely negligible. It wouldn't even be too much to worry about if practical concerns made "proper" timing day-to-day impossible.

I'm eating about 1600 calories and doing cardio to burn another 250. At what point would it be a detriment to cut any more? This is my first time really cutting and I dont want to lose muscle mass so im trying to have a high protien intake.

I'd say anywhere between 8-10% (if you want visible abs). Anything more than that is pointless unless you're trying to go to a competition or something.

You can do this by calculating your TDEE, then multiplying it by anywhere from 20-30% (depending on how fast you'd to cut), then by subtracting that many calories from your diet. Also, make sure the type of calories you're eating fit into your MACROS. Don't be eating a bunch of fast/junk food expecting to have visible abs.

Hello /fit, I'm in need of some advice. I've never done a cut before.

>190 lbs

Macros
>20%carbs 30%fat 50%protein

Calories
>2000 a day roughly

Let me share a little background first. At my heaviest I weighed 280 pounds. It has always been my goal to have a physique I could be proud of. This winter I put on some muscle in hopes that I could just cut once the warmer weather came around. With spring right around the corner I'm finally burying the hatchet with this unwanted fat. I've been on a low carb diet for the past week. Getting carbs strictly from low gi foods (cutting wheat out completely). Along with my diet I've reworked my weightlifting schedule. Hitting the weights 6 times a week while doing high reps and keeping my heart rate up throughout my one, one and a half hour workouts. My cycle goes as follows:

>day 1: chest, delts
>day 2: upper/lower back & traps
>day 3: legs & abs
>repeat

I am currently NOT doing any type of cardio afterwards and that's my big question today, should I? If so, how long & how often? How should I fit it into my schedule? Now I've done my research and it's suggested that I dedicate days for cardio and do full body workouts rather than split them up. I know I should be doing compound excersises (and I do), it also suggests I do cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. My only problem with cardio is of course losing my muscle mass. I know that it's still too early to know how my progression has been going so I'm just going to ask you, am I missing anything? What should/ shouldn't I be doing? My goal here is to cut as much fat as possible while keeping as much of my muscle as possible.

Why are you getting 250g protein? Seems like way too much. Why not up the carbs and lower protein to 190g?

I am at uni in the UK. I live in a catered hall. i.e my food is cooked for me for the first year. I'm trying to lose a bit of fat but its much harded when I can't control what I'm eating. I've made some progress by cutting all snack and essentially having two large meals a day but I've hit an equilibrium and havn't lost fat for a while. I'm about 15% fat. Cheers boys and girls.

What the hell do I pick?

I lift 4 times a week and have like a day where I do 20-30 minutes or cardio. Usually 8 maybe 9 hours a week. Other than that I'm sitting most of the time and usually get up to walk to my classes.

And what makes you so sure? I've been following world events closely for 6 years now, and anyone who has any grasp on the current geopolitical situation understands that some kind of conflict is on the horizon. History shows that humans are creatures of war, and that peace doesn't seem to last (and the longer we live in peace, the more likely conflict becomes because the people forget the horrors of war and are willing to fight over the pettiest of differences). Maybe we can achieve lasting peace next time around the cycle of we don't blow ourselves to shit this time.
