Hey /fit/ I've been inspired by Conor McGregor and was thinking about, as part of my summer cut, joining an MMA gym. Is this a good idea or no? If yes is what is some essential advice I'll need? Also what should I expect from it?

>Inspired by Conor McGregor
Lol.
You should watch some real MMA Fights, for example Pride FC. If that irish pub fighter can motivate you, you're going to jack off to Silva Wand, Don Fry, Fedor, Mirko Crocop.
My advice: get better role models
>>40932978
I mainly like him because he's white and beats up minorities tho
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mhrWnEJZEU
Plus you have to admit his last fight with Nate Diaz was probably the GOAT.
Can't wait to watch him beat the shit out of Mayweather.
>>40933029
Nate Diaz got him once tho. They're a split record. Bs he's gonna running away trying to start something with money b4 he gives the Stockton Kid another shot.

Why do girls do huge bulks and put on like 20+ pounds if they gain like half a pound of muscle a month? Couldn't a bulk be like 100 calories extra?
Pic related is goals.
>>40932355
managing a bulk less than 500 calories is a waste of time
>>40932355
>Couldn't a bulk be like 100 calories extra?
I guess, if they wanted to put on half a pound of muscle in a year instead.
Also, it's impossible to calculate your TDEE so precisely.
it's really not a good idea to bulk too far past 15% bodyfat, your nutrient partitioning gets worse after that point
http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/muscle-gain/calorie-partitioning-part-1.html/
the leaner you are, the greater % of your weight will end up going to muscle
as far as why people bulk at like a 1lb/week rate rather than whatever the rate of muscle growth it, a really small surplus can disappear if you take the stairs and not the elevator that day
if you do not consistently stay a little above maintenance, your growth friendly environment goes away and you spin your wheels at maintenance calories

Hey /fit/.
You know me, but you don't know me. I've been here a long time. A *long* time. I've tripped, I've posted anonymously, I've lurked.
And here's my quandary - every day I see threads with questions, comments, and arguments. These threads are short and long, clusterfucked and abandoned, meme'd and broscience'd.
I, after many years and much effort, have gained the knowledge necessary to answer the vast majority of these threads. Simply. With meaningful, peer reviewed, empirical answers.
But I almost never do.
Because after 69 replies and 17 images omitted, who's going to see my answer? Who's going to even realize I'm giving them the actual correct information they asked for?
Does this board want actual mentors? Or has it become more of a social collective - where we can make jokes and motivate/insult each other?
I really would like to give back to /fit/ and contribute to all of your growth, but it feels like there's no point if I am not one of the first few posters in a thread.
What would you do if you were in my situation?
Sincerely,
A purposely nameless /fit/izen
nigga i ain't reading that shit lmao

Hello /fit/!
Im doing bjj and No-Gi and while I can see improvement in cardio, I really have problem with power.
Since its my goal to be able to compete in both bjj and No-Gi I really need to be able to grow my strength without adding too much muscle mass. Can anyone give some advice for a noob like me?
lift weights
>>40931939
I can give you advice on technique. you shouldn't be using strength for anything besides finishers and submissions.
Conserve energy as much as you can, are you a white belt? white belts tend to try to muscle through everything but that doesn't help. you've got to use technique. strength comes into play when you lock in a submission and then you should unleash all your strength trying to finish to the point you exhaust yourself choking your opponent.
>>40931939
Lift people
Lift weights
SPAR AS MUCH AS YOU CAN
Be willing to wait. you'll improve alot in the first 6 months then its a grind to improve every technique. always have 3-5 different ways to get to your favourite positions.
Why is anxiety worse when you're awake in bed at night?
>>40931765
Because you have nothing to distract you.
What has this got to do with fitness. They should make a help me board.
>>40931785
>what is mental fitness
Also, your mental health has a major impact on your physical health.
Also, this board used to be "health&fitness", wtf.
>take 50mg Ephedrine and 200mg caffeine to lose weight with EC stack

I'm starting to get my life on track again, I started lifting for a while, even though my lifts aren't that good I'm working on it, I have decent grades but I still feel like shit. Wat do
Lift more. Once you start lifting huge weights you can tell gurls to take a hike.
>>40931760
>Lifting for grills
No thanks, I'm pretty asexual
>>40931747
I don't know senpai. I was an overweight sperg when I left high school, now I'm in decent shape (still nowhere I'd like to be) with a good job who can socialize pretty well but I still feel like I'm miles behind everyone else. Every time I think to myself that I'm doing good there's a nagging voice in the back of my head telling me that I'm still uninteresting compared to everyone else.
When I lost weight
>Why are you happy ? You're still below average and you can't do shit with your body
When I got some decent gains
>Why are you happy ? There's still some people that life way more than you.
When I got decent at socializing
>Why are you happy ? You wasted your teen years being an asocial sperg and they're never coming back
And this is just for the stuff I managed to "fix", I still see other people who are literate, playing an instrument and shit like that and then the first thought that pops into my head is that I don't compare.
Why do we take this man seriously again?
because he's forgotten more about fitness than you'll ever know
Cowboy accent
>>40931750
No, he's only stolen his ideas from Bill Burr and created a dogmatic, cultish following that attracts newcomers into strength training because they don't know any better. Case in point, (you).
>come to /fit/
>SS is a meme!
>PPLs are a meme!
>PHAT is a meme!
>U/L is a meme!

I want you to give me an actual routine that you faggots can agree upon.
Stats
>164lbs
>5'10
>265lbs deadlift
>105 OHP
>205 squat
>155 bench
Been doing SS for many months and I'm stalling constantly now despite lots of sleep and caloric surplus, (my main goal is aesthetics anyways) now give me a damn routime
If it's aesthetics do a PPL routine.

An hero x1
What do you keep in your gym bag, /fit/?
Belt, chalk, headphones, and straps. I also throw my wallet, phone, and keys in there while I'm lifting.
