In honor of 4/20, let's have a thread for CBD.
https://draxe.com/cbd-benefits/
What Is CBD?
CBD is one of over 60 compounds found in cannabis that belong to a class of ingredients called cannabinoids. Until recently, THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) was getting most of the attention because it’s the ingredient in cannabis that produces mind-altering effects in users, but CBD is also present in high concentrations — and the medical world is realizing that its list of medical benefits continues to grow.
CBD is the major nonpsychoactive component of Cannabis sativa. According to a 2013 study published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, CBD benefits including acting in some experimental models as an anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant, antioxidant, antiemetic, anxiolytic and antipsychotic agent, and is therefore a potential medicine for the treatment of neuroinflammation, epilepsy, oxidative injury, vomiting and nausea, anxiety and schizophrenia. (1)
Research is beginning to show that CBD is different than other well-studied cannabinoids. All cannabinoids act as ligands, meaning they dock onto the binding site of a protein and have the ability to modulate a receptor’s behavior. CB1 receptors are widely distributed, but are particularly abundant in areas of the brain, including those concerned with movement, coordination, pain and sensory perception, emotion, memory, cognition, autonomic and endocrine functions. (2)
CB2 receptors are found mostly in the immune system, and they seem to reduce inflammation and certain kinds of pain. Although cannabinoids all have similar structures, they display a wide array of actions at each of the different receptors.
However, scientists are finding out that CBD has very little effect on CB1 and CB2 receptors, which probably explains why it doesn’t have mind-altering effects, unlike THC, which positively regulates the CB1 receptor. That’s why most marijuana grown for recreational purposes are typically very low in CBD and high in THC. (3)
CBD has many proven benefits:
1. Relieves Pain and Inflammation
Among common CBD benefits, natural pain relief tops the list for many. Evidence suggests that cannabinoids may prove useful in pain modulation by inhibiting neuronal transmission in pain pathways. A 2012 study published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine found that CBD significantly suppressed chronic inflammatory and neuropathic pain in rodents without causing analgesic tolerance. Researchers suggest that CBD and other nonpsychoactive components of marijuana may represent a novel class of therapeutic agents for the treatment of chronic pain. (4)
According to a 2007 meta-analysis conducted in Canada, the combination of CBD and THC buccal spray was found to be effective in treating neuropathic pain in multiple sclerosis, which can be debilitating for 50 to 70 percent of MS patients. (5)
2. Has Antipsychotic Effects
Research shows that CBD benefits include producing antipsychotic effects. It appears to have a pharmacological profile similar to that of atypical antipsychotic drugs as seen using behavioral and neurochemical techniques in animal studies. Additionally, studies show that CBD prevents human experimental psychosis and is effective in open case reports and clinical trials in patients with schizophrenia, with a remarkable safety profile. Do any /fit/izens go to the gym high?
I only smoke weed a couple of times a year (today's holiday generally being one of them) and I'm thinking about hitting the gym afterwards.
>>41143641
I smoke before i lift in my home gym.
>am @ gym now
>am high
>feelin' joocy
do it.
>>41143641
smoke after feels good af man
I was doing incline dumbbell press with some heavy weight. I was trying to maximize range of motion so I attempted to control decent. However, at the top of one of my reps I guess my left shoulder just crapped out and my arm rolled a little back.
I'm pretty flexible and have had no problems with movement before. In fact I'm double jointed in a lot of places (including my shoulder)
But I've had a dull 3-4 pain for a week now in my shoulder and any lifting with my tricep or bicep causes a burning 4-5 pain in the center of either muscle. I've not gone to the gym since and I'm just waiting for recovery but should I be doing anything else?
My roommates brother is a semi pro ball player and he says it's a rotator cuff issue and I should be doing movement exercises to target it, so should I just go to the gym to squat and do muscle therapy while I recover?
>>41143357
incline dumbbell press is a useless exercise for chest you retard. Not only does it not target upper chest like bros like you think it does you can use less weight than on the flat bench so your muscles work less and grow less also using dumbbells means you can use less weight than barbell to your muscels are growing less than with the barbell bench
>>41143357
If you have a fucked up shoulder the last thing you should be doing is squatting with a straight bar, if you have a SSB then fair enough but I doubt it
>>41143398
It's strength training to help my OHP, I've been not doing any incline for a while and my OHP is lagging compared to my other lifts, so on chest week I've been supplementing it.
But using less weight is interesting I'll keep that in mind.
Do you know anything about the injury?
I skipped gym for the second time this week because im tired from university and because im lazy
i want someone to motivate me again
>needing motivation to go to the gym
never gonna make it
It's going to take you that much longer to reach your goal
>>41143330
This is only going to continue until you need more motivation. How about you really think about what you want out of this.
Im beyond out of shape, let's just get that out there right off the bat. The last time I was in shape and could actually run, i was 140lbs in the army. I'm now 203lbs and have been out of the army for about 4 years. And im enlisting again. They measured me today at 25% body fat and i cant be over 24% so I have like 2 weeks to get that as low as possible and I have to try running for the first time in 4 years with an extra 60lbs on me... which is not going to be easy. And will be painful.
Any advice guys?
Obviously no more junk foods, no more weed.
Gyms likely not an option, no money.

Couldn't handle life on the outside?
>>41143300
Nope. No work, the people suck, and I need the structure.

What's your daily caloric intake and how old/tall are you?

Okey /FIT/, I've just got a temporary job as fill-in PE teacher. My first lesson is tomorrow and I need something to do. Does anyone have a good strength/indurance program (Body-weight work and running etc) I can use? Preferably something very hard and physically demanding.
what age are we talking?

Dodgeball
>>41142666

Why do people do this?
So companies will sponsor him. No company is going to sponsor someone who won't say "I do not do steroids", because then it looks like that company supports steroid use. This perpetuates the culture that makes people think you can achieve crazy bodies without steroid use. A chick actually tried to tell me Dana Lin Bailey wasn't on the juice, which is absurd to people in the know.

>>41142545
It's just a tag for visibility. There's tons of apps that let you type in a few hash tags then pump out a bunch of hastags related to that one. It's why people tag a bunch of unrelated shit to their pics, it's to increase visisbility.
just a quick reminder that you are slowly killing yourself and aging yourself faster by eating a surplus of calories every day
They're both ugly monkeys.
