Are front squats a good way to strengthen hips?
>>42832286
what the fuck do you mean by "strengthening hips" exactly?
front squats are fucking great for just about anything from various sports to bodybuilding tho, so yeah, if you're not front squatting yet, you probably should, excellent for quads
>>42832286
No, they are a good way to strengthen quads.
There will be some improvement to hip extension strength, but not as much as from low bar back squats, deadlifts, goodmornings, or hip thrusts.
If you care about hip flexion, adduction or abduction, you will need accessories, although sumo DLs and wide stance squats do help build adduction strength.
>>42832286
not really, if by strengthening hips you mean a thrust move. Just think about it, obviously the exercise in which you have to thrust your hips the most would be the best, so FRONT squats are literally the worst choice from squats. Go either low-bar squats, or better yet, deadlifts, especially sumo if you start from a relatively high hip position.

I've only had 2 gym "crushes". The first one was when I started lifting in highschool. She had a butterface but she was the only teen girl that I'd ever see in the gym after school and her body was great always wore super short shorts this was before the leggings meme took hold. Heh one day in a super packed hallway I squeezed her ass while we passed each other going opposite directions and then I ducked into the classroom. I can't remember if she thought it was me who did it or not. She eventually stopped going to the gym but I can't remember if it was immediately after I did that (which would be a YES she knew) or weeks/months after. The second crush was this really fucking cute girl that was 2 grades below me. I didn't see her at the gym too much but her face was so perfect that she was the only one at my second gym to really grab my attention by the throat.
That was a few years ago. I only work out at home these days. I gained like 40 pounds. Now I am losing the weight after fixing my diet finally.
>>42832227
I workout at home because third world and if i go out i will most likely get shot or something so my crush is a photo of my mom when she was 10
Is there much difference between curling a dumbell and curling a ketbell ?
Wich one is easier ?
>>42832225
A dumbbell is much easier for curling. The weight is on the sides so it never gets in the way as your arm moves up. Kettlebells have the weight at the bottom, so it touches your forearm as you pull up.
>>42832225
Dumbbell will be marginally easier since the weight of a kettle bell is all to one side of the grip, so will pull very slightly on your hand as you go through the movement. Other than that I can't think of any reason why there would be a difference.
>>42832225
With equal weight curling the dumbbell is easier and more effective.
up against the wall, hips, back, head touching the wall. Flip my arms back to get into the position in the pic, my hands can't touch the wall. They're stuck at a 75 degree angle. Same thing if I lay on the floor
I've foam rolled, and it did straighten my back, I think my shoulders are just tight or lacking rear-strength to pull the arms into place.
best way to remedy this issue?
You are just unflexible
If you are unflexible due lifting weights you can fix it
In the other scenario if you are unflexible before you started lifting (like in my case) you just cant fix it
>>42832198
no lie homie, look up yoga stretches.
i actually became more flexible after that with my shoulder routines.
other than that, basic stretches. itll hurt like a motherfucker, but you should see better results.
but the yoga stretches - no lie they work
>>42832323 Not OP but
I tried them and didnt fucking work
After all that went to doc and he told me the cause could be calcified joints or short ligaments
how long does it take to be able to add more weight?
I just started lifting, bought a set of 200Lb (100lb x2) adjustable dumbbells
got up to 35Lbs with curls and can do 3 sets of 10-12 reps with a minute sometimes more rest.
can only do 1 set with overhead press.
I watch all the vids of people doing way more weight and feel like a weakling, really want to go up in weight but can't handle it.
using less weight for lateral raises, only 15lbs, should I try increasing this? I don't wanna snap my shoulders up.
What should I do to get to the next level? I'm looking for strength over bulk.
eat more

i appreciate what OP said but can we turn this into tom cruise thread?
hey /fit/ here's a question for you that i haven't seen anyone ask or mention. what's the deal with intermittent fasting?
remember back in the day when, if someone wanted to lose fat, they were told to eat more frequently, with smallish portions. the thinking behind this was that the constant feeding of small portions increased the speed of your metabolism, because your body was constantly in a state of gaining and breaking down foods, and thereby you were preventing your body from ever entering "starvation mode" (where consumed food was converted to fat for storage immediately as a sort of saftey mechanism to ensure you'd never starve, which occured if you ate rarely and infrequently)
now only recently i have heard of "intermittent fasting", which is the complete opposite method, but somehow achieves fat loss too? the thinking behind it is that your body is in a "fed state" for 5-8hrs after a meal, and isn't actually able to burn any (or at least not much) fat at all as within that period it is simply using the energy from the food just consumed. you then don't eat from say 7pm to 12pm the next day, giving a gap of 17hrs of no food, where the body enters some other state (forget it's name, lets just call it burn state or some shit) where your body is actually able to use the energy from the fat as it no longer has ANY energy from the foods accesible.
now in principal from an uneducated perspective, these both seem to make sense, but they also contradict one another. how is this possible fit? do you know if one is definitely true and the other is bullshit, perhaps both are true (which i don't understand how two contradictory statements could be true)
someone please help me understand the mechanics behind both and which i should try (intermittent definitely seems more convenient)
tl;dr intermittent fasting vs "cave man" style diet. both seem to make sense but also contradict one another wtf??
pic semi related: goal body in terms of fat percentage
>>42831993
when you eat your lazy body has no reason to take energy from fat stores because you're digesting, that's where fasting comes in, both are valid but with multiple portions people fuck up by eating big portions and with fasting people have weak will to get through suffering before their metabolism adapts to the routine
>TRIPLE SIX

>TONGUE
>>42831993
>they were told to eat more frequently, with smallish portions.
That was a meme by the carbjew, the junkfood companies, a conspiracy to sell SNACKPACKS. they know snacking on carbs will make people hangry every two hours. Solution? Suggest they'll lose weight, kek, if they eat "smol meels" all the live long fucking day, grazing like cows on muh healthy cookies, rotting their teeth, and then BOOM!
Obeast epidemic of epic proportions.

Made me feel drunk. Couldn't get words out very well either. Shit is terrible. Gained weight too. Would not recommend.
Hate the shit
On 150 mg twice daily. Worked reasonably well at the start for me, but tolerance developed quickly. Only side effect I get is I find it harder to recall things. Fucks with my memory and that got worse as the dosage increased. Going to go off it because the oain relief is not worth it.
>>42832576
Those side effects went away after a few weeks for me, but again my tolerance developed quickly.
Do you guys wear cologne or deo to the gym?
Which is your favourite brand?
No because I'm not a faggot.

>"Losing fat and gaining muscle at the same time? That sir is simply improbable"
>>42831775
sure you can try losing fat and gaining muscle simultaneously if you want to wait 10 years to see results
As I said in a different thread, I don't know if I'm gaining muscle but the weights I started with feel light now. They feel heavy again once I double them.
I assume that's because I've actually gotten stronger by building muscle. But I've also dropped 27kg in the past five months.
>>42831775
>making significant strength progression on a caloric deficit
