Just wait till September, bros, we're gonna make it.
Hey /fit/. I've never been here before.
I'm 5'10, and just barely 130 pounds. I haven't worked out consistently in years. I also, don't have a gym membership, as they are too expensive.
I do, however, have a weight set, dumbells only. In sets of 2, I have 5lbs, 10lbs, 15lbs, and 20lbs. What can I do with this? Also, is food really as essential as everyone says? Food is also something I would have very limited access too, but I'd imagine I would see results quicker because of my lack of muscle and body fat in the present?
Help me, thank you.
READ THE FUCKING STICKY

Jesus fucking Christ, read a book nigger. A book is like 4chan but printed on paper and you should try one or two out before asking completely retarded questions.
Does the sticky need to be updated? The top link doesn't even work anymore.

(Admins read it but don't respond btw)
Hi /fit/, I have a real dilemma
I already booked a doctors appointment, but I'm wondering if maybe I should take some other actions (it's not until tomorrow) and whether I should refrain from more exercise.
Basically I was doing dumbbell military presses with 32.5kg each (very recently went up from 30), and on my last few reps of the last set I had some weird upper back pain and stopped.
Immediately there my upper back hurt a reasonable amount, but moreso I felt very constrained in my beathing, and any movement I did my back hurt more. So I Just just of relaxed a bit at the gym and went home.
I did all sorts of back stretches that I could think of (did not hurt much during stretching). Now, my back just kind of hurts (between the shoulder blades) - and it's a numb/blunt sore of "background" pain, but if I do anything like move around, rorate my back right or left it hurts more.
It also kind of hurts/feels uncomfortable when I breathe, and I can't take a deep breath without the pain escalating a LOT.
Even if I lie down on my back it feels uncomfortable at the least, though on my stomach it feels kind of ok.
So what the fuck have I done /fit/ and can I go for a run or not?
Should I avoid lifting for a while? What exercises might be ok/safe to do?
NLPH thread
There are new fph threads everyday but never a Non Lifting People Hate who I believe are worse that fatties in some instances such as
>give stupid buzzfeed workout plans to me that they dont even do
>telling me i should be okay with my body just how it is
>it cant be healthy to be that big anon
>>41835789
I'm intrigued. Give me some examples.
>>41835789
Never seen a thread like this, but would be interested in something like this.
>be me
>your average skinnyish 9th grader
>discover /fit/
>decide to transform myself
>6 months in, and I've made good, visible progress
>at some family gathering
>see 200lb overweight cousin, few years older than me
>decide to go say hi
>smells like raw fish and expired milk, so just say hi from a distance
>now talking in group with her and some other relatives
>mention about how I've been lifting and shit
>whalecousin interputs me talking about how she's bought a stationary bike, and has been using it regularly
>/fit/cousin is interested and asks me what I've been doing
>tell him about my routine and then my diet. Talk about how many calories I've been eating
>whalecousin instantly gets triggered
>starts rambling about how calories are bullshit for gaining/losing weight and "just fuel for your body to run"
>mid sentence she starts breathinh really heavy
>pulls out an asthma inhaler from one of her various folds
>takes 2 big puffs and starts screaming again
>something around the lines of "I've been going to the gym and eating healthy for years now, and calories are bullshit..." etc.
>question her claims a bit further. Completely obvious she has no idea what she's talking about
>/fit/cousin says if she regularly exercises and works out she wouldn't be obese
>starts screeching and physically hitting *trying* to hit him
>moving her arms in a circular motion while her fat jiggles around
>face is red af and sprta squished
>looking like a downy chink
>he runs upstairs and hides
>mfw the true look of horror and fear on his face
This was like a decade ago
Last I saw her was when she was diagnosed with diabetes and my made me visit her.
Saying the same old shit about how her doctor says she has diabetes because of her weight, when that's not even mildly related.
Most of these people are just annoying, usually-obese co-workers. It's really easy to ignore them and all the stories about them are the same.
I only weigh 130 lbs, but I think I look kinda soft. So let me know what you think.

Is anyone else frightened by their own vascularity?
I'm not exceedingly vascular, but even just seeing my veins has always given me the heebie jeebies. And as they become increasingly defined, my paranoia about accidentally cutting myself becomes worse. Sometimes I'll enter a state where blood, bleeding, and personal injury is all I think about. Gotta pull up my sleeves so I don't accidentally slit my wrists on the corner of my laptop. And then there are the intrusive thoughts of self-harm, this bizarre fixation of biting and clawing out my own wrists, removing every last vein and artery with my bare hands. Whenever I think about Richard Chase (the Vampire of Sacramento), I start laughing uncontrollably. HAHAHA SOMEBODY WOULD KILL A BUNCH OF PEOPLE AND DRINK THEIR BLOOD BECAUSE HE WAS SCHIZOPHRENIC AND HAD HIS BRAIN FRIED BY ACID AND THOUGHT HE DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH BLOOD HAHA! Usually this continues until I'm on the verge of fainting since I have a rather deep phobia of blood.
How do you cope with increased vascularity? My arms just feel really exposed.

Looking for the ideal ratio of macro nutrients for a clean bulk?
lol am I back in 2004?
>>41835681
95% protein 5% alcohol
Don't use ratios.
Macros are based on body weight.
Consume (AT LEAST) .8/lb of protein and .4g/lb of fat.
Carbs has no minimum, after meeting protein/fat minimums you can make up the remaining calories however you'd like.
Guys i signed up for muay thai but i'm so afraid, i dont want to get brain damage. i had concussions playing football and dont want brain damage maybe this is a bad idea. but was so much fun. plus i dont think passing out from exhaustion is healthy for the brian

Are there places where I can learn martial arts without having to compete in tournaments and actually fight people seriously? I'm fine with sparring and if there's protection gear, but not anything more than that. I want to learn Muay Thai for striking and Olympic wrestling and/or Brazilian ji jistu for grappling.

>>41835625
No gym would force you to compete. They might make you spar far more often than is good for you, so pick one that would respect your wish to keep the head trauma to a minimum.
>>41835585
Stop being a pussy. They're not going to throw you in with the meat eaters on day 1. You're going to be with the old people, invalids, women, and children until you are able to handle yourself.
Is it broscience? It's hard to tell, since every single video has a clickbait title/thumbnail but the content is very detailed.
Is training calves a meme?
Yes. Pretty much useless.
>>41835363
You only train legs to run like a bitch.
Isn't it pretty much mandatory since if you have a big upper body but wear shorts that cover your quads, your calves are gonna look like sticks in comparison?
Why do you lift?
