Is it actually possible for a normal run of the mill fat guy to get laid?

I'm only asking this because I use to be fat (not american fat) but that awhile ago, I'm now nearly 30 and I've been lifting/eating right for 7 years now, but I remember being a fat teenager, and being fat in my early 20's, and being invisible to women, it was impossible to get any kind of female attention in a intimate/sexual manner when I was fat.

I was only 15kg or so overweight, not like it was 50kg+ or anything crazy, so I don't have any stretch marks or loose skin or bitch tits.

That said, this experience in my life made me truly believe it was IMPOSSIBLE for a fat guy to get a GF. What are your thoughts on this?

Many fat people are married or have girlfriends. The trick isn't to be the best looking, it's to engage women and make them feel good whilst in your presence.

This can come in the form of validation by dating a /fit/ dude or it can come by funny jokes, money security and non-judgement

There are a few things that you must have to get a gf though

>The balls to approach her and show intent
>the money or the social skills to make her happy in your presence
>>
I'm going to be 32 next month. I've been rejected by every woman I've asked out.

That said, there are married fat men. Of course it's possible.

I've had so many opportunities to get laid, but cause I'm a virgin I choke and don't go through with it.
Eg.
>Talking to girl, Being myself, cracking wise
>She's laughing at my jokes, making suggestive ones of her own
>Putting her hand on my forearm everytime she laughs
>Slow song comes on and she grabs my hand and tries to pull me up to dance
>Lie and say I'm too drunk to stand
>She is visually disapponted and walks away
>Didn't see her for the rest of the night

How can I stop being so anxious in these sitiuations?

Does anyone in here train for athleticism? Not just for aesthetics, but for physical capability. Flexibility, mobility, and strength all rolled into one. What sort of workouts/routines do you do?

I've been lifting on/off for about ten years now (more off than on) and I've got a pretty solid idea of lifting for strength and aesthetics, but as far as training to be an actual athlete goes, I'm in the dark.

Depends on your athletic goals, e.g. I train for soccer so I need to have explosive speed and enough muscle to hold off a player but not so much I sacrifice agility or endurance.
>>
>>42709328

Athlete is a really broad term considering each sport has you train differently.

For flexibility (balance) calisthenics and gymnastics are your best bet

because you're the result of several generations of slave breeding

but it does seem insightful, thanks for the recommendation.

Have your motivations for lifting or being /fit/ changed over time? I used to do it for girls but over time am finding that external motivators don't work nearly as good as internal ones focused on the self.

Guys I have been lifting for two months now. Very noticeable difference, the trouble is, I'm not losing any fat really. I went from 220lbs to 240lbs. I would say most of it's muscle but I'm still very skinny fat. I run a mile a day also.

Yours truly

Fat ex smoker guy.

Why do you expect to lose fat? Did you read the sticky? You're eating at a surplus.
>>
Oh I forgot to ask my question. Can I go on a fast without losing muscle? Also what is the best way to curb my appetite.
>>
>>42867288
My arms are getting huge, but my face and gut are very fat. I do my abs on leg day, should I just run more or what?

So here it is -- I've got a 5k race against a friend in about a month and a half.

It's a chance to prove that training beats athleticism. I'm 6 ft at 225 currently, friend is 6'4" at 210 and hasn't ran regularly in a while. He says he can still run an 8 minute mile. I run around 20 miles a week with zero speed work (in the middle of base-building for 30+ miles a week).

Would it be more worth it to up my easy miles for the next 6 weeks or should I focus more on speed work like intervals/repeats? I'm currently running a 27 minute 5k, and I'd like to have it closer to 25.

Yes do some faster workouts
>>
An 8 minute mile is fucking pathetic. If you're running even a couple miles a week, you'd almost certainly destroy that time. You're running 20 miles a week though, this basically shouldn't even be a question whether or not you're going to win.

That said, 27 minutes for a 5k is surprisingly slow for someone who supposedly runs 20 miles a week. You sure you're being honest with us with your activity OP? Regardless though, unless your friend maintains an 8 minute per mile time for the entire 5K, your current 27 minutes will still probably beat him.
>>
>>42709522
I'm assuming the reason I'm slow for the mileage is because of my weight vs. my height and my lack of focus on speed work.

I've spent a fair while trying to build up an aerobic base because my intention was to focus on distances much further than the 5k.

Since my friend wants to race me (rather said that he thought he could roast me in a 3 mile run), I figured I would change my focus temporarily and try to get my 5K time down. I thought I should have a good enough aerobic base to hop on a 5-6 week 5K intermediate program and get close to 25 minutes.

I did some reading because of the lack of responses and I am going to do a program that focuses on a 5 day a week schedule that has some hill repeats/tempo runs/intervals, along with a longer run (6-7 miles) to get me up to the speed I feel like will easily dispatch of him.

Plus if I win I get monies.

How bad is drinking while eating? I heard waiting 30 minutes before and after eating is more healthier.

I'm not talking alcohol btw, just drinking in general.

/fit/ or gym related confession thread

My gym at home has private shower stall with two curtains so part of it is made for you to change and the other curtain opens to the shower itself. After my shower I get dressed in the dressing nook thing and sit down and meditate or read books off my phone. I don't know why, I guess I like the sound and steam of the shower. I only do it when I come on "off times" when I know there will be stalls available for everyone, and usually I'm one of the only people showering when I do this.

I'm looking for another gym in NYC that has a separate curtained off changing area like this.

>Tfw it might happen in my brain next
I know I go red headed when I lift. It also happens in my upper chest area too. Thick Veins and red all over pecs.
Every time I increase the weight as part of my progression on deadlifts I get these red dots. After a few days they go yellow/Brown (like a bruise) and then disappear. They don't come when I do the other lifts. Only on days I deadlift.
Does /fit/ get this?

Well, having your blood pressure rise into the sky is normal when lifting heavy shit, especially on deads. Same with heart rate. Like, some people can get to 200 bpm during exceptionally heavy deadlifts. I am talking like, 1000 pounds deadlifts and shit. Its normal.
