Hey /fit/. I regret to say that for this past year I've been a fat lazy fuck. I haven't touched a weight since August, and I feel sick. Lifting to me lost it's fun and just felt like...a chore, really. But I wanna take it back up. However, I'd also like to get into Brazilian Ju Jitsu and Muay Thai training, I'm going to college in the city and there's alot of gyms, I've lived in the country my whole life and haven't had any local places, also kinda poor when I was younger. Anyways, I hope to stick with both so I can tone my body with something other than running, which is annoying and boring and never really worked for me. But, I wanted to know, if I practice both of these martial arts AND lift, can I still build muscle mass? I know that if I ear enough calories I'll put on muscle, but will the high cardio and heavy fatigue martial arts like BJJ and Muay Thai hinder my mass gain?

Also, I've wrestled for 5 years throughout middle and high school, and I heard BJJ was similar in the ground knowledge area of combat, will this expirience in martial arts benefit me, or hinder my progress because I fight on the ground using a different martial art?
Depends what else you have going on in your life OP. BJJ will get you knackered. Doing it 2-3 times a week saps you of energy/motivation to lift. If your schedule is light enough to permit adequate sleep and some lifting thrn you certainly can expect to build SOME muscle. Obviously guys in the UFC dedicate their entire lives to the sport so it is possible yes but unlikely if you're living a normal life. I wrestled through high school do BJJ and kickboxing now (compete nogi in BJJ) and I can tell you it's damn near impossible. Muay Thai is what's really killer though. One martial art and lifting is manageable but TWO especially with one being Muay Thai, don't expect to see much. You'll have to give at least one thing up anon, and lifting will br the first to go.

Well I'm starting college, I have Sunday, Saturday, and most of Tuesday and Thursday off. I figure I can find an hour or two a day to go to the gym and practice whatever martial art I choose, and desu lifting has gotten boring to me, I like being strong but I've always been kinda chubby with my muscle, I'd like to be tone. I truthfully believe that no matter what body type you are or whatever muscle insertions you have, as long as you get muscular you will have a great body. Barrel chested guys can probably look like they're built like a tank, kind of like how even if you have wide hips you can still reach fridge mode.
Is training for absolute strength advantageous in mixed martial arts/muay thai/BJJ? Some say better takedown power, maybe increased striking force. Or is it too detrimental to muscular endurance to validate the strength advantage? What's your opinion /fit/?

what specific forms of powerlifting?
deadlifts and squats are infinitely useful in maintaining posture and stability in judo takedowns, i have no clue how it works with BJJ though.
people have a hard time throwing me because i can maintain core strength at the right moments.
then again snatches and clean and jerks i've been doing alot and finding the muscle groups it uses has a tonne of cross-over with muscles used for martial arts.

Phenibut's didn't seem to do much for me or its effects are very exaggerated. It is nothing like getting hammered with alcohol, or even having a few drinks. It may have had a very small effect on making me less inhibited, but that might have just been the placebo effect. I only did it for about a week though (followed directions and didn't use them on consecutive days).

caffeine with l-theanine is a pretty good combination, although I think some people really exaggerate it's affects. It mostly just takes the edge and jitters off a good caffeine buzz and makes it more clean clear-headed and focused. I definitely notice an improvement in mood as well

I fast about 18/6. Just drink water all night at work. Honestly don't notice any difference in fat loss over a regular diet, but it makes it a LOT easier for me to control my appetite. Hunger is basically not a thing for me. Just "Oh, it's time to eat." It's great.
