I did it /fit/, after one month, starting out squatting the bar, I can finally squat 100lbs! I know a lot of you squat 3x that or more so I know it isn't impressive at all, but I was really happy to hit 3 digits as I've never been this strong in my life.

All I did was an old fashion work out, lots of protein, working out, and drinking lots of water. I got hit on by a 7.4/10 35 y/o on the street and she asked to marry and it was that quick, it's called a life time of fitness bros. I used to think I was fat in the stomach but then went to the gym. Background info: best friend was a championship lifter with his dad, I was skinny he was fat, turned tables around and got fit quick. I never joined the service BUT I design for multimillion dollar companies now.

Hi /fit/

I'm going to a gym for the first time in my life to try and lose some weight, and since I don't know much on the subject, what should I do there for starters?

How often should I go there? Friends have been telling me that if I go everyday I'll lose motivation and get excessively tired.

Lastly, what kind of food should I avoid?

First few times I would recommend you work all muscles every session, and not too hard. I mean you should still get tired but don't walk in and work your biceps to the ground with 5 different biceps-exercises, do an all-round workout.

After that you should use google because everything is out there, same with food...

Is there any point going to the gym once a week? I work a labor job and by the end of my workday I'm usually too tired to go to the gym because I lift shit for 10 hours a day

Being realistic, withouth starving how long it would take to go from 20% body fat to 15%? With diet alone, withouth considering exercises?

some data: I'm 5'7 and a little over 150 pounds (69 kg). I've used to be fat when I was a kid (216 pounds when I was 14, now I'm 28) and at the end of the last year (around october) I was around 185 pounds and finaly I'm starting to enjoy the way I look, still I have some love handles and I'm probably a little below 20% body fat but I think I can do better

A 500cal deficit results in a pound of fat loss a week, so 3 months of that would be about 12lbs of fat(plus a little muscle and some water weight). 12lbs is a good deal of fat for someone who weighs 150lbs.

this guys says that you don't need a caloric surplus to build muscle. You can eat at maintenence, be in a positive hydrogen state, sleep well, work out no more than 40 minutes and here you go, you can gain muscle and stay lean for all the time

Don't know what to believe, so much different information. From personal experience though, I found it much easier to gain mass on a caloric surplus.

What are the benefits and downsides to working out nearly 24/7 for one month. I don't mean nonstop every day, but with breaks in between workouts to rest and eat.

Better way of explaining it is:

2-3 hour workout
1-2 hour of rest
Repeat.

Say you were to stay in a gym for 1 month straight. No going home or leaving. If you were to take each day and spend it working out from morning until night , with proper breaks in between workouts, would it be harmful or OK to do.
