What did i do ?
So I started doing some bodyweight training to obviously lose some weight and get in shape, but I am not pleased with the way I look yet. Went to the gym once and started noticing some improvement on the aesthetic side. Do you guys recommend a mix between the two? I am starting college soon so I want to know if I should spend my money on a gym pass. Pic maybe (?) related.
A mix between the 2 could definitely work
>>42388811
If your goal is to just lose weight and get in shape then bodyweight exercises will be enough to take you there, but if you want to get bigger then I'd recommend that you also invest in a gym membership.
Bodyweight exercises alone will be enough to make you look better than the average but you won't get huge from them.
>started doing some bodyweight training
not gonna make it. don't do that shit. lift weights
I'm relatively new to gyms, and am a recovered fatty, 5 months in and I'm feeling pretty great about myself.
Problem is, the more I shape up on this cut, the more I'm worried less about my weight and muscles and more about the clothes I wear. I recently got some better fitting stuff cause my other gym clothes weren't really cutting it. Problem is is that I'm on a budget and I just got the cheapest stuff that didn't look awful imo.
Is gym attire a real thing? Do I look like a total sperg? Can I not pull off pink? Help me out fit brahs, just tryna feel a little less anxious about this.
Also, is it autistic to wear your working tanks/clothes when you out in town? Any other tips on how to dress as non-DYEL would also be appreciated.
>Gym fashion thread post expensive clothes here

Basketball shorts ftw
>>42388788
What constitutes has basketball shorts? I always thought these were trunks?
Fuck have I been a sperg for all these months, is that way the biggest dude in my gym gave me deadlift coaching?
>>42388803
Any shorts with a thousand airflow holes. Toss them out bro.
Yes I read the wiki. I did not understand this part fully.
Just answer me this fit.
Can you lose significant weight (10-15 lb) while still building muscles in a realistic time frame?
I looked at the diet calculators, I look at the posts, and as I understand it:
High caloric deficit = fast weight loss, no gains
low caloric deficit = extremely slow weight loss (2-3 pounds a year), some gains
Not really seeing why you would not want to do high deficit to lose weight and then bulk for strength instead of the middle road, but I feel like i'm missing something.
Could someone explain it to me more?
>Can you lose significant weight (10-15 lb) while still building muscles in a realistic time frame?
if you're a newbie, you can do both simultaneously in a realistic time frame
after the first few lbs of muscle, you dont build any more while losing weight
the reasons behind people [fat powerlfiters] not doing moderate-high deficits is :
>hard
>low energy
>possibly lose muscle if you don't lift/eat enough protein
What do you call a realistic time frame? When I first started I dropped 10 kg. I can't tell you how much muscle i gained but my stats went from probably 40 kg bench to 100 kg bench, 50 kg squat to 130kg. It's possible.
>>42388789
ok thanks
>>42388799
>What do you call a realistic time frame?
I used scoobys diet planner thing and I remember getting a result for 20% defecate something like -15-20 pounds in a year, and I did the same with a maintain-10% and got like -2 pounds a year and it made me think, thats even the point?
>that guy who wear a basketball short and a football shirt
>caring about what other people wear on the gym
The instructor said "you need to talk more" . What do I lift to be able to talk more?
Lift the mouse and scroll to the "drop class" button.

Maybe you should choose a hands-on vocation if you're not willing to use the main instrument of the mind.

1RM as 2/3/4/5
Anyone going to the Olympia?
New to lifting, and confused about a few things with the SL 5x5 program.
>am I supposed to include the warmup sets with the bar in the 5x5, or do I do the 5x5 with my max weight?
>how the actual fuck do I force myself to eat 3000 kcal a day? I'm a few weeks deep, and I can barely reach 2500 kcal without wanting to puke
i read through the SL page and couldn't figure out the answers to these
5x5 is your working sets, doesn't include warm up
peanut butter and milk
>>42388658
The 5x5 refers to the 5 sets at your working weight. This should be lower than your max weight, but don't include your warmup sets.
Eat calorie-dense foods like butter and ice cream if you're meeting your protein requirements
>>42388658
You're not supposed to include the warmup sets in the 5x5. These are your working sets, all done with the same weight.
Is it normal to feel my upper chest muscles pushing out without my hands on it and I also feel my nose when I breath, it's really weird and I actually never thought about these until I looked up on medtitation. Please someone help me.
Breathe into your stomach, you should feel your upper stomach (where the diaphragm is) expanding and the chest should move very little, shoulders shouldn't move at
>mouth breathing
If you're not consciously breathing it should be all through the nose and your mouth should be closed.
It sounds like you're doing fine desu. While there is a lot of talk about breathing into your stomach or into your back etc it is imposible to control where in your body the air is going, and thinking like this more often than not results in tensing in the place you focus on. It is easy to overdo breathing, putting restrictions on yourself like not moving your shoulders etc, but if you take a rich full breath it is necessary for the upper body to swell. Shoulders and chest rising slightly (without tensing them of course) might actually be necessary for a full, relaxed breath.
Lungs are basically balloons, expaning all over when filled with air.
I consume every day:
>4 quesoritos from tacobell
>64 ounces of that new drink called Body Armor
>1-2 gallons of water
The quesorito gives me the fat and carbs and protein, the body armor gives me all the vitamins that i dont get from the fruits and veggies i refuse to eat, the water keeps my organs processing the taco bell

Brush it off my friend.
Today i talked to a lady that said she wanted to find a cure for her diabetes.
It turns out she has type 2 diabetes(which is reversible)
And she said she has to take insulin(which makes so sense because type 2 diabetes is insulin resistance and giving more insulin will make the type 2 diabetes worse)
By the way she is really fat.
She doesn't even take care of her face piercing.
She needs fasting days but thinks she needs to eat 4 meals a day like a type 1 diabetic and do all the things type 1 diabetics do.
Tfw i cant tell her how full of shit it is for her to be taking insulin and not fasting because everyone around would just tell me im wrong cuz im not a dr.
Is this post supposed to have a question hidden in there somewhere, or are you just writing a blog?
>schedule next week has "Head Chef Orientation" on it

just ask your superior what its all about. its better than just showing up like nervous retard.
also if theyre gonna start giving you more responsibilities make sure you get paid for it. they might be giving you more work without an official title to avoid giving you a raise

HOW DO I GET BETTER OVERHEAD MOBILITY REEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>42388309
nigga the rep isnt over when you reach the top.
It's up and down, reset, rebrace and go again.
You dont rebrace and breath at the top, you lose all tightness, and you most certainly dont go that slow dont on the eccentric
>>42389704
at lwast you arent lanklet that has good shoulder mobility but cant squat due to muh proportions
