Useless with a good camera.
Even your smartphone app can just download JPEG directly over WLAN from RAW stored on camera or download RAW and convert them rapidly in the app on the camera.
And your laptop / desktop computers certainly shouldn't be much slower at the conversion, even at the often quite sad Adobe speeds you at least should about match if not exceed the speeds at which you can edit / print / upload.

Or I can do that in the camera because my jpeg engines flexible unlike canon
>>3933
Does anyone ever really get more than ~20MB/s reading from an SD though?
Serious question.
>>3936
USB 2 is good for up to 60 MB/s theoretical, or about 45 MB/s practically. My old Class 10 Extreme did about 55. My Lexar 1000x does about 80, with USB 3 of course.
Stop buying shitty cards.

Did they ever produced a 127 camera?

They aren't shit cards, that's why I'm asking.
I always get the same speeds no matter if I'm pulling it direct from the (USB3) camera, or plugging the card into the expansion bay card reader, or using a USB3 thumbthingy reader.
I shoot how I want, don't tell me what to do faggot.
>>3941
ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
just did some testing:
seems my USB cardreader bay has USB3 inputs, but uses usb2 to read the fucking cards... unbelievable.
Also surprised to learn that the usb3 output on a K3 will only read at 16MB/s
Whereas the same sdcards stuck in a hunk of shit usb3 thumbconverter will read at 50MB/s
Transcend and sandisk 64GB 95MB/s read rated cards, fyi.
To think i have probably been reading these cards at their minimum rate on and off for years. Fuuuck.
>>3931
I would do this, but I have a baby camera, so it only lets me shoot RAW with JPG and not RAW alone.
>>3939
I doubt it.
127 is pretty much just for Kodak box cameras.

USB 3 it's on pretty much any machine made since 2012 and pretty much any machine from 2012 is fast enough to process any RAW from any sane camera fast enough
>>3943
Yeah, most card readers (and cards themselves) pretend they work at the maximum theoretical rate their port supports
They usually have stupid shit like internally using USB 2.0, or using some shit tier controllers that will shit the bed as soon as you actually transfer anything
Unfortunately there's no proper reviews for this stuff and you can only get around by actually buying and testing everything
>>3943
My D800 can transfer at full USB 3 speed.
But I still use the USB 2 card reader build into my screen.
Because converting from NEF to DNG and building 1:1 JPEG previews takes way longer than transferring the files anyways.
