Nothing clever to call this edition edition
>>9804640
fuck, that watch is so nice OP
w2c
>>9804661
It's a Seagull 1963, the 38mm acrylic crystal version with a display caseback. I bought mine from watchunique, it's a store in the Netherlands but they had the lowest price I could find (no VAT tax for Americans) and pretty fast shipping to the US.
I was thinking about getting a Hamilton Khaki King II as worn in House M.D
what are your thoughts?
Bought this replica Rolex for less than a $100
Will add a mesh or leather strap and use it to go out in the woods and to the beach.
It will make a nice beater and keep my other watches nice and clean :-)
>>9804776
>He didn't get one from one of the reputable dealers.
I'd rather have gotten an air king. When it looks like this it's pretty okay to do whatever with it and it'll still sell for a thousand dollars.
Is Ulysse Nardin a good brand?
>>9804788
If you can find me a light colored Datejust that looks like an Air King from one of the reputable dealers I would've bought it.
I loved the Air King style but really like having the date.
This was my second option.
How much do the cheapest rolexes costs? For example, is it possible to get an airking with a leather strap for less than $2,000?
>>9804828
It starts at $2,000, you're probably looking at $3,000 for a good one.
>>9804828
In condition 2 or 3 it's about 1500$
For about 1800 could get you a slightly roughed up datejust.
Look on chrono24.
>>9804788
Also, are there any more 'reputable dealers'
In and puretime, toro all don't have great Airkings or Datejsuts that look like Airkings.
I was actually going for pic related
Alright, everyone.
So here's the gist, I plan on going out into the deep wilderness this summer to hunt for bigfoot (Don't fucking judge me, I have my own hobbies.) and I need the perfect watch to do the job.
I live in the Southern U.S and where I live it can be pretty unpredictable, but generally speaking I just need a good watch that's incredibly durable and functional. Obviously g-shock watches can be good, but I need something specific so I can look at that watch and see if it would be good. Generally speaking anything you might find useful like compasses, countdowns, or anything else. It doesn't have to have specifically those, just something that has a lot of uses.
I'm going deep in the forest to look for bigfoot, and bigfoot isn't going to be giving me shit about how it looks. As long as it doesn't look like it belongs in a fruity pebbles commercial I will be fine.
Watchnoob here.
I'm currently looking for a nice watch. I'm in love with the design of the Daniel Wellington watches. What's /fa/'s opinion on this brand? Other than it being Quartz instead of mechanical. Otherwise, are there any watches with very similar design out there, being mechanical?
>>9804742
I really dislike how how the day and date are cut through the 11 and 1. It looks like really sloppy design.
>>9804852
I haven't really looked. I'd have gotten that from silixprime but at that pricepoint it's probably the same thing anyway.
Post pics when you get it and put it on a leather nato. Look for grey leather natos too.
>>9804955
Don't. Look here >>9804644 instead.
If you must get a Daniel Shillington, get one off Aliexpress. Literally same materials, workmanship, overall quality and internal components. About 5% of the price though.
On it's way.
I really like the higher movement speed, don't hate on me :(
>>9805161
Thats actually a good cop.
You fucked up with the jewel indices, though.
>>9805026
Those are actually pretty.
Really thinking about sending that $100 Chinese thing back and getting one of those
Any experience with them?
Picked this up today for about 18$.
>>9805195
>chinese return policies
nah m8
I actually think you got what you wanted, you've posted that image quite a few times and likely thought of it more than so. Get it on a leather nato and enjoy it.
If I have some money to piss away any time soon I might get the black air king and sun fade it over the summer. Or their rather shitty 1675 since I've wanted one for closer to a year by now.
>>9805190
Damn. :(
>>9805228
Already e-mailed and done.
Got an Asian friend who does the sweet talking.
Going to order from that other website, probably tomorrow.
Thanks for the tip, wasn't ready to shell out $400 but $200 is just perfect
>>9805280
Wait what did you get?
I was talking about some shoddy 86$ air kings that are 36 rather than 34mm
Silix isn't exactly a reputable site but it seems acceptable.
Do review the site (and watch) when you get it.
>>9805228
Is that the 1675 that's on torobravos? How exactly is it shitty? I've been eyeing that one lately but I don't like the acrylic crystal and I have no idea if it's actually any good.
>>9805299
Smooth bezeled DateJust with the thinstriped\AirKing face
I purchased the one I showed in the picture which is a shitty Chinese one, but the pictures from the site you showed look way more promising.
And the site I ordered from is something like 'Replica Rolex .co' so I prefer that Silix site a lot more
But I will read up on it a bit more, the fact that it's a bit more expensive gives me hope it's better
>>9805326
Oh also, it would probably be this one:
http://www.silix-prime.so/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=115_158_218&products_id=2160
Since I find the Roman numerals on the other one absolutely disgusting.
Now I just need to do my checks in the actual size of the watch, the website and whatnot
>>9805311
I don't mean that one.
I mean the one in my picture.
>>9805326
"ROL135"?
>>9804949
Are you /k/ going innawoods?
Beware of Goatman.
>>9805352
ROLS142
The 135 has the Roman numerals
I prefer the AirKing with date look
picked this up as an everyday beater. I like it.
>>9804955
I wouldnt cop. It's a $5 movement, If i wanted a cheap quartz with a similar design I'd go for a Timex Weekender instead, which are way cheaper.
>>9804949
Sounds like you might need an ABC watch. That's Altimeter, Barometer, and Compass. There are a few from G-Shock or there is Suunto and I believe Garmin too.
>>9804955
They use cheap Chinese Quartz movements in a cheap Chinese case, they charge way to much for their watches, get something else
Simon Carter
London
>>9804793
some very cool unique stuff, v expensive though
>>9804793
Russian oligarch-core
They make some neat high end stuff and I like the San Marco (blue from like 2006) but nothing they make is the most bang per buck nor the most impressive / objectively best.
Their models also tend to be huge and / or gaudy.
>>9804640
Moved From Old Thread
Sub C "Hulk" Ref. 116610 & GMT Master II "Batman" Ref. 116710
>>9805867

>>9805889
Oil & Gas Consulting
>>9805899
Besides to ostentatiously show off wealth, why the modern Rolexes?
>>9805867
Very Nice my friend, I prefer the gmt. Do you have any other high end watches?
>>9804640
>>9805903
I Like the Ceramic bezels, the parachrom hairspring, the design changes i.e bigger lugs, bigger crown guards, and I actually like the look of the rehaut
>>9805922
No other pieces yet.most likely will get a solid collection of Rolex before I start buying Patek or AP, Next piece I have in mind is a steel date just II with blue dial
>>9805949
fake
>>9805957
pls get a 14060M and a 1675 so I can live vicariously.

>>9806215
is your shirt made of damp paper towels or something?
>>9806243
Yeah buddy, tyvek. Nxtlvl techfits.
>>9806079
just because you can't afford shit doesn't mean nobody else can either
>>9806198
I like those ads. do you have anymore?
>>9806259
you shirt is made of house wrap?
>>9806277
There's a whole bunch, Rolex and Pan Am really had a thing going for a while. RIP Pan Am.
>priced from $160 to $1000
how quaint
>>9806287
Did they have any with the 6542?
>tfw you will never fly a 747 and wear a GMT-Master during the height of glamorous air travel
I spy an Aeroflot thing, don't think that belongs there.
>>9806299
not that I saw, I think I'll stop now
>>9806282
>House wrap
Tyvek is a revolutionary spaceage material.
Only used by the most avant garde of tech companies.
>>9806329
isn;t it the stuff ikea shopping bags are made of or something
>>9806329
ill admit it sure cuts the wind down
I got this from my grandpa, it says Benrus 21 Jewels on it. Any info?
>>9806387
No info on your watch, but a Google brought up this: http://thewatchguy.homestead.com/pages/benrus.html
>>9804949
Suunto Core.
>>9805957
You're a good Rolex owner mate. Love the GMT.
>>9806079
It's not. That's an issue I have with Rollies though. Unless everyone knows you're wealthy, the first question will be "is it real?"
>>9806387
No info from me either, but that is really nice. That bezel is great imo.
Do you have any idea how old it is? Looks brand new. Pics of movement?
>>9806889
Thanks and good luck!
>>9806899
nice dubs
it looks fake the date font looks odd to me
>>9805957
You really must be on some good cash, keep us posted on how your collection is going. This here is my realistic Grail watch
>>9807092
Yes spring drive Grand Seiko is a very fine watch I will admit, I would be proud to wear one.
>>9807092
I also work a lot..gosh that "Snowflake" has me kind of worked up..second hand 10 beats of goodness!
>>9807098
Because I'm relatively uninterested by heritage I think it's the best value for money high end watch, and it's certainly achievable to most people living in a first world country
>>9807092
>he spends thousands on a seiko
>>9807101
It's always a comprise, any non manual labour job isn't too bad working long hours. Grand seiko really make some nice stuff
>>9807105
I couldn't care less about it not being Swiss, I'm that far from Europe I really couldn't. The Japanese make great cars and great watches, anyway we are on a website dedicated to weeb shit, I'm sure people will be in favour of grand seiko here
>>9807129
Dont reply to trolls, mate. It probably just sieg pretending to be an anon anyways.
>>9807129
How much is it to service a spring drive? At least with an automatic an independent watchmaker can take care of it, but with the SD your watch lives or dies by Seiko's whims.
>>9807105
Yeah it's like spending $30k on that Hyundai
....like why....
>>9807180
Wearing the nicest seiko is like bing the best looking guy in a virgins anon meeting, might look good but what's the point
>tfw Breitling simply isn't as good as they used to
>they will never make this again
Can't tell if want
Replica Rolex Anon here from yesterday.
Been doing some research on Silix and seems fine, they have been going for a couple of years so seems good.
Probably getting pic related
Any problems I might encounter or anybody want to vent about replica's?
>>9807480
you buy fake and your only hurting the people that buy real and the companies that make the watches..its just bad business..need to act your wage if you cant afford one buy a Tudor or something in your price range never buy fake
>>9804640
Attn: Do not but a Seagull!
I sent mine back to china five times, only for it to break again. No other watch maker will touch it and I consider my purchase a waste of time and money.
>>9807497
You know that fakes are around the $200 right?
And that Rolex is 10 times that if not more,
Good Tudors are still 5 times more.
Steinhart at least is 2 times more.
The only thing I would settle for is a watch close to or around $200, which is only a Seiko that looks nothing like it.
>>9807542
steinharts are just hype driven generic watches
no better than tissot, rado, oris or whatever other meh watch brand you can name
>>9805612
>They use cheap Chinese Quartz movements in a cheap Chinese case
that is literally the only thing /fa/ likes in the watch world though
personally i don't see why DW watches aren't considered the absolute shit here
since /fa/ loves ACNE, common porjects and void the brand
you would think their go to watch is daniel wellington
cheaply made, generic looking soon to be garbage
>>9807542
still missing the point
>>9807574
you must be concerned about the brand on your wrist or you would not be buying one in the first place..also you should have some self respect but it seems like you don't if you are willing to be fake and buy fake....I would buy what I could afford knowing it was a real watch not a fake even if it was a $10 timex at least Ii know I wasn't a fake
>>9807574
whatever though its your life..you live it the way you want..I couldn't go around being a phony I have more self respect than that
>>9807587
>>9807592
You guys are rpetty butthurt about this topic.
It's a watch, it doesnt make me fake or a phony.
It's just a piece of jewelry I have on my wrist to tell the time.
It has absolutely nothing to do with self respect.
I don't want to be *that guy* but you guys sound like some consumerist/capitalist people.
Your stuff does not define you.
>>9807597
im over it...im just cringing and shaking my head..good luck on the replica..hopefully people spot it as a fake and call you out and people laugh..you will feel like a phony then..
>>9807597
Save up for a Steinhart Ocean One.
If that doesn't cut it, it's probably because you want people to be like "wow, you own a Rolex?", which is, frankly, quite pathetic considering it's going to be fake.
>>9807606
i agree..."act your wage"
>>9807603
You must have shit friends.
Mine would go: "You bought a Rolex?"
"Nah, it's a fake for when we're going to the beach for the next few months"
"Ah, okay"
And yet again, people don't have the ability to make me feel like a phony, I don't give a fuck about opinions of others unless I value and respect them.
>>9807606
If the Steinhart Ocean One was what I wanted I would've purchased it.
The sad thing is that there are no watches with the look and feel fo a DateJust for around the $200, as I posted earlier.
The only thing that comes close is a Seiko that doesn't have a cyclops and a horrible date window with ugly bar marks.
It's just a beater that will probably get sand in it and be gone in a few months.
whats a good g-shock i could start with?
>>9807619
Just buy whichever one you think looks the best. Some have more features than others but all of them are good.
>>9807615
fake rolexs often have ETA 2824 blanks in them
the only reason people don't like them is that they are unregulated and just slapped together
a steinhart ocean one uses the same ETA 2824 movement with the least amount of regulation from the factory that ETA offers
-------
some rolex fakes feature knock off movements made by seagull
these movements are like a lot of chinese goods a hit or a miss since chinese quality control is lackluster
so once in awhile you get one that just won't fucking work for the life of it due to poor machining and poor assembly
not to mention chinese people aren't known for their customer service
if you can cope with all of that you may get a half decent watch that pretends to be a rolex at the build quality of anything from a nixon/invicta (hairs and smudges inside watch) or might get lucky and might get the build quality of a tissot (pretty decent for money)
Arrived yesterday along with the NATO
>>9807663
I can assume that when I buy a $200 watch from a 'trusted' website, it would be better than a $80 from Aliexpress.
However this is wishful thinking and I understand that it comes down to a hit or miss situation.
>>9807180
Sieg ain't a fan of grand seiko but for some reason never gets up me, makes me feel bad that he doesn't pay attention to me
>>9807299
It's a good point, I think that spring drives will become more common in the coming years and independent watch makers will be able to do a decent job on it
>>9807567
I love you sieg, I think we should talk more, maybe get to know each other better
>>9804828
>>9804839
>How much do the cheapest rolexes costs?
>It starts at $2,000, you're probably looking at $3,000 for a good one.
Not even close. They regularly sell Rolexes cheaper than that in various forums. Cheapest mens model I could find in about 2 minutes was a £790 Oyster from 1958 (8/10 condition, serviced 2014)
Just copped, needed something for everyday wear that isn't my good watch
I got this from my dad
any info ?
>>9804955
you can buy a chinese clone that's reportedly as god as the real thing for $5 from aliexpress. I have the 36 mil on the way
>>9807821
lip is a french designer studio, they're low price range and are mostly known for their "television" and "fridge" watches
yours look nice though, wear it with pride and maybe one day pass it on to your kid
>>9807615
You want.the Rolex name faggot
Otherwise you would have gone onto ebay and typed in Parnis which is.literally the exact same.watch but unbranded and $100 less
But you didn't because you're a nigger who wants the Rolex label so you bought the cheapest rep
>>9807420
MVMNT must be pissed
>>9807836
Nope, that guy has an oyster quartz. I'm the guy with a fake datejust.
>>9807875
Close.
I never knew about Parnis, that's why I never mentioned them.
The design however is shit at best.
I don't like the Roman numerals, the big bars or a lot of shit on the dial.
Like I said before, if there was an exact Rolex without the crown, I would've bought it.
I had the debate about buying the Seiko in a previous thread but it just doesn't have the same look and feel since you're going to be annoyed by the little things.
>>9807419
Wow that watch is ugly as fuck
Effay or nah?
>>9808093
shave arm
>>9808093
way too big faced
>>9808117
My wrist is super tiny.
Here it is on my friend's wrist.
>>9808130
Even your friend can't wear it properly.
Get a different watch
Rodina + NATO Strap
>>9808165
Strap looks very dirty which imo contrasts well with the clean dial. Something darker would be better imo.
I was thinking about putting a brown genuine Omega leather strap to my watch, since the Twix O' Flex looks kind of cheap.
Do you guys agree?
What's the cheapest place to get a Squale? Looking for a Submariner homage, probably going to get a Steinhart unless I can get a Squale one for around the same price.
>>9808316
Invicta.
>>9808314
Getting rid of that bracelet sounds like a good idea. Don't buy a fucking OEM strap though, you'll get raped in the wallet.
>>9808337
I just thought a leather strap with the same brand would fit better, but yeah I see what you mean.
Should I go ordinary buckle or butterfly strap buckle?
>>9808330
No.
>>9807665
absolutely disgusting
>>9808347
I've always found butterfly clasps on leather straps tacky as hell. Definitely go with an ordinary buckle, preferably in gold to match the case
>>9808347
cont.
But it's a very nice Seamster. Since you don't have big wrists it will suit you really well also.
>>9808381
Thanks.
Yeah I have really feminine wrists which is quite unfortunate because I've always wanted a Planet Ocean. But I'm afraid it'll be too big for me. But I was thinking maybe an Aqua Terra would be a better choice.
>>9808165
an unappreciated combo, looks great though
Thoughts on the new strap?
>>9808520
I meant under-appreciated*
>>9807420
>Can't tell if want
Can't tell the time without a fucking halogen globe overhead.
>>9808401
Get a leather NATO strap.
>>9808525
how much did that entire thing cost
