I always really liked the whole lunar core thing, but I already dress like a mod anyway.

The bomber is quilted and has the adidas three stripes down the arms so it feels a bit futuristic. Might try and find some space patches that are bit subtler.

Ebay is your best shot. Look after Russian space or military patches. Maybe some orthodox christianity stuff as well. Those are the best shot at finding something with cyrillic on them.

A sewing machine is gonna cost you.
Just do it by hand, it's not that hard. Duration depends on your skill, your method of sewing, the fabric of the jacket, the lining of the jacket and the fabric of the patch. A backpatch can run you up to one to two hours but it's hard to make a correct guess.

Just take a stab at it, sewing is relaxing.

It's some cotton-poly poplin with a smooth finish and tight weave I found at Joann's.
Doing them by hand takes a while, but lets me test a design. I work at a museum and hand-stitch clothing regularly.

You can stencil print technically anything, I guess. As long as you use a thick waterproof paint to stencil the material you'll be fine.

I used to stencil with thick white wallpaint onto regular canvas. My prints survived three to five washes in the washing machine before fading. So it can be done, just use the right materials.

Use anything on the second row. Those are most probable to be the right size for a sleeve patch. The ones in the top and bottom rows are at least 4" and the space shuttle one on the bottom right is even bigger.
