The color of the bike matters a lot less than the make and model. You should base your leathers on how safe they are, not what style they are or how attractive they are. Nothing is attractive on scarred, mangled skin.

Try stuff on at a local bike shop and to start, buy stuff you like online. Lurk /o/ a bit for gear recs. Don't buy a used helmet

bike is like this (I have a 1980 Honda C70/supercub). mine is more of a faded strawberry than the cherry-red in this photo.
so it's a motorbike, not quite a full-on motorcycle. only does ~55mph, so streets only.
when I have the money I'll do some upgrades and try to take it to 65 or 70mph

I plan to be safe yeah, but I want to look aesthetic as well.... body armour and leather and such can only protect me so much especially since if I do get into some kind of collision they aren't going to accomplish as much as I'd like.

that thing isn't a scooter, it's a real motorcycle, just not freeway legal

get a helmet, leather gloves, and semi sturdy jacket, denim or leather is fine. The jacket is partly to keep the weather off you.
if you are really concerned about getting hurt, find a jacket with elbow and back protection.

but you'll be fine, that thing won't get over 50 and you'll be on city streets.

i wanted a trail 110 actually, but I couldn't find one, so I settled with the C70; I wish I had gotten a later model though, becausee switching out the electricity and such and is gonna SUCK

this, honda used to build their engines to last 25+ years until they found out it was mopre profitable to have them run only for 5-10 years like GM figured out in the 60's/

but in the 70's-90's you got shit like forged cranks, oil jets, forged connecting rods, hand polished intake and exhaust ports, forged pistons on some very rare engines

and the manual transmissons they made could take a beating, people made 500+ horse to the wheels on a turbo motor and the only things that were breaking constantly were the CV joints

Hey guys, I really, REALLY want a cheap cafe racer. I'm gonna be working a lot over the summer and basically putting my money towards getting one, but I honestly have no idea HOW to get one.
Would I go to some sort of dealership or order it online and have it shipped to me? I highly doubt I'll have any luck with craigslist. Also do you need a motorcycle license to ride a cafe racer if it only goes up to about 55 mph?
Any sort of insight or recommendations for cheap minibikes would be amazing. I'm pretty smitten with the honda trail series atm.

I think I got minibikes like the honda trail series mixed up with cafe racers. They were really small and about as powerful as a scooter, depending on the model. If I remember correctly there's sort of a grey area in terms of whether or not you need a license to ride one because they're practically a scooter made to look like a small bike.

where are you?
the trails are harder to come by in the US, I found my bike on craigslist, I'd start there.
sometimes people sell bikes on ebay
hitting up a dealership might give you a few leads
it's easier if you know exactly what you want imo
for the cafe racer bit, you'd do better to convert a bike, instead of trying to find one thats already in that style. alot of cafe racers were custom and such
