How did people dress in the 80's and early '90's, Watching tv and movies they seemed to like denim jackets and baggy clothes from charity shops.
If you aren't old enough to remember then please leave.
>>9575818
Baggy colorful sweats, lots of denim, doc martens, curtain hair, flannel, jacket/sweats tied on the waist, huge white sneakers, etc.

Fuck off you dumb shit. sage
>>9576162
a lot of people did actually wear thrifted clothes in the 90s
Some of my typical 90's fits:
Weightlifter pants, XXXL Levi's hoodie, red Blackhawks varsity jacket, Nike Uptempos.
Levi's 501, green Diesel suede jacket, shortsleeve Levi's henley shirt, I forget what shoes.
Baggy Triple5Soul track pants, Fuct tshirt, Puma Clyde.
Psycho Cowboy jeans, Blonde coach jacket, Pervert beanie, Vans or Nike.
Ecko cargo pants, Ecko hoodie, Dunderdon pullover parka, Adidas Superstar or Timberland boots.
Mecca jeans, Rawkus tshirt, Nike Air Max 95 or 97, record bag.

how do you think the charity shops obtained 90's clothes?
in the 90's they had 70's clothes in them!
average pleb dressed like tim allen in the santa clause/home improvement
fashionable women dressed like rachel from friends.
there were some stupid trends among teens in the 90's
music was stupid, that sugar ray song still plays in every mall
fuck im old
>>9576258
Because I was a teenager in the 90's, not a toddler like I'm guessing most people in here were. I even still own some of my 90's clothes:
Tommy Hilfiger black and silver pullover windbreaker. Those 555 Soul trackpants I mentioned. All my Fuct tshirt, a Hook-Ups Jeremy Klein tee + some tees from various indy record labels. My Uptempos from 94 are still around but the air cushions in the heels are busted. I still have a GoreTex jacket that I have owned since the late 80's (still very good condition), and I belive I might still have the Dunderdon pullover I mentioned.
I'm not a hoarder, I just like to keep stuff that I deem somewhat timeless. I really regret throwing away my bomber jacket from my punk/skinhead phase in the late 80's.

>>9576692

you, not really
I'm normally not really into manga, but I just read Parasyte and there's some pretty dope simple late-80s/early 90s fits in there. Lots of high-waisted, baggyish jeans with the shirt tucked in, on both guys and girls.
The movie Scream is also a good pop culture example for cool 90s fits.
>>9576709
Birdhouse is sort of new school for me lol. My first deck was Vallelys first pro-model on Powell Peralta. After that I skated Vision, Schmitt-Stix, Skull Skates etc. The most "modern" brand I had a deck from was World Industries (Vallely again).
I was too old when the tech decks came, we used the regular shitty fingerboards that was basicly a keychain without the chain.
Yes, it makes me feel very old!
I know... I had an IT job when Tony Hawk 1 came out.

I had a Frazier phase when Seinfeld just started out. Tan chinos and soft shortsleeve shirts with those vertical stripes down the front. If I had known about guyabera shirts I'd probably have bought one. Sported a black silk hawaii shirt with palms on it for a while too.
Not a fedora tho. What I did had absolutely nothing to do with fedorawearing gentlemen - even though they tend to like the same kind of shirts.

>everyone seems to have a sense of fashion and appreciation for basics and good-looking clothing, even the nerds/rejects
If you go into a high school or middle school today (or even in the past 10 years) all of the girls would be wearing shirts with big Hollister/Abercrobie/AmericanEagle logos and guys would be wearing shirts/shoes/hats with Nike/Northface/DC and whatever other brands catches onto the consumer-trend-train.
Why is this? Why are people such brand worshiping losers now? I was born in 1993 so I didn't even know what clothes I was wearing during the 90s, but it all seems atrocious now compared to these glorious fits featured on the students in these pictures. Current mainstream ideas of "acceptable" clothing are bad in my opinion
>>9578287
In the 80s and 90s a lot of this stuff looked lame and mundane
It's all relative, in the 90s everybody was into the 70s
>>9578287
are you retarded
90% of these fits are shitty with zero thought put into them and basically just look like the kids picked out some oversized clothes from the local thrift shop / dumpster
also why do you expect junior/high schoolers to dress well?
are you double retarded?
>>9576406
Lmao the guy on the left who think its still the 70s
>>9578287
the only reason you like these outfits is because youve been on the internet too much faggot. guarantee you woulda found these fits whack 2 years ago.
people have been collectively dressing with as much thought as they did then as they do now, which is basically none, and you only think its cool cause tumblr romanticized it for you
all these pics are from one upper-middle-class school in one super white, normal place.
no hip hop kids, no punk or alternative kids, nothing fashion forward, just boring popular stuff that TV shows told you was in fashion.
good for establishing a baseline, but none of my friends wore any of this shit.

I love how women wore their hair in the 80s. It always looks so soft in pics.
its true
people seemed to have a better grasp on fit back in the early '80s. maybe not color coordination but certainly fit.

>>9578556
This is true. Just look at the pics of those hardcore kids posted early in the thread, they look good and are dressing somewhat timeless because their fashion is connected to a subculture. But most of the people in the school photos seems to be painfully normal and boring.

Our skinny fit today is an early 80s revival. We should have a 90s revival, but the zeitgeist doesn't fit (Everyone had money in the 90s, nobod yhad money in the early 80s, just like today).
If you don't believe me, watch reruns of old shows like Knight Rider or MacGyver. Most of the fits looks eerily familiar. Compare to 90s shows like Renegade, Walker, X Files, and you'll see that we don't actually have much of a 90s revival going on.
>>9575822
18 year olds were born in 1996.
do you remember fashion trends when you were 4 years old? fucking dumb old cunt
>>9579095
Bullshit. Late 2000s, early 2010s hipster craze was the absolute low point, ie. fashion that didn't suit ANYONE and people wore it to make ironic statements: Spray on skinnies, slim fit flanell shirts, beards, beat up chucks etc.
It's actually getting better now.

Autism: the picture
So would 'clueless' (the film) be an accurate description of mid 90's Middle and upper class fashion? It all seemed so varied in that film. I really enjoy the late 90's culture that my auntie was a teen through, birth of the Internet, phones becoming accessible to the masses, more TV choices, it was the start of today's culture. While given the choice Id be realistic and be my age right now today, I do like looking back on it because I was only an infant in the 90's (96 birth).

same exact year bro
Im only 21 so I dont really remember the 90s super well as far as clothing goes, since my parents were still dressing me when it ended
I have two older brothers though and I remeber them always wearing something made of like nylon or mesh at all times. They were kinda jockish-streetwear kids from New York (one of them had a different mom and the other had a different dad) so they always wore like, bucket hats with the yankees logo on it. One of them also had a mushroom undercut or whatever it was called and the other had big thick wireframe glasses and wore a thick ass chains and super clunky shoes that were like 34 colors and jerseys with denim jackets (which is also pretty dope in retrospect)
I also remember one of them having a charolette hornets starter jacket that I made my mom get rid of when i was 3 because the bee scared me. (Super dope jacket and i wish it was still around)
I also had an older sister who wore like, really big flannel shirts with turtlenecks and had like gel sneakers or something. idk
Besides that everything was kind of a blur.
Things all fit kinda weird. Jackets were all super short and really billowy and i remember everyone having like, really weirdly toned vertical striped shirts and tech fleece vests.
tl;dr 90s clothing sucks outside of sportswear and no matter what tumblr tells you people looked like crap.
>>9579651
