well, the guys at common projects freely admit that the rod laver was the inspiration for the achilles.

here's the thing, this adidas reissue doesn't hurt them that much. and here's the reason for that: common projects main customers are boutiques and department stores. CP doesn't make a lot of money selling shit directly to customer and having a huge overhead and variable shipping costs. they're happy to sell directly to customer, and they do so. but that's not where they make their money. they make their money by selling 350 pairs to bergdorf goodman's or nordstrom or 50 pairs to some shop in LA. and those stockists aren't going to stop stocking CP just because rod lavers are back out. if anything, these products don't so much compete as they do hype each other.

the customer who buys new common projects isn't just shelling out $400 for white leather sneakers. if they just wanted white leather sneakers, they'd go down to urban outfitters and get a $25 pair of white sneakers made out of a material that barely qualifies as leather. or they'd get rod lavers. but they don't want rod lavers or UO shoes. they want CPs specifically, for the brand and for the associated quality.

in fact, the only CP market that this release of rod lavers really hurts is the grailed/ebay/brokeboi secondhand market. this hurts people who try to sell their destroyed five-year-old achilles for $150. why buy moldy worn-out cps when you can get brand new rod lavers for 90 bucks? that's the question that people who are debating between CPs and lavers are asking. and that question does not affect Common Projects as a company, because brokeboi secondhand buyers were never going to buy brand new $400 CPs anyway.

I fucking hate you /fa/.
I'm still buying CP's anyway, I own other adidas shoes and the leather quality has always been pretty bad.
There's branding on the back of the shoe, too, but these do look pretty good as a whole I won't lie.

>>9463377 is spot on.
>>
>>9463624
We still have the nice stan smith version with the suede tabs while burgers are stuck with the shitty plastic tab version tho.

Is this board just about finding an alternative to CP's because that's all I ever see.
Is everyone really this poor?
>>
how does the quality of Stan Smiths compare to CP ripoffs from Zara, H&M etc? Fast fashion stores have less branding
>>
>>9463807
I don't have stan smiths but all the footwear I have bought from ZARA has fallen apart rather quickly. Keep in mind that cheap shoes are usually not worth it

way better

>>9463807
I've had a pair of Zara shoe for like a year and a bit now, they're pretty destroyed

i want to grab you by the ears and scream in your face
>well, the guys at common projects freely admit that the rod laver was the inspiration for the achilles.
this has never happened. this comes from reddit. kent wangs pleb-filled AMA. you completely made this up
>they're happy to sell directly to customer, and they do so.
really? they do? please show me where. this is also an outright fabrication

the rest of your post is a paragraph of embarrassing dribble that can be condensed to
>this wont affect people buying cps, it will only affect the people who want them but cant afford them
please kill yourself, everything you said was immediately obvious to anyone with half a brain. i hate you because you know nothing but you are pretending to be knowledgeable. you are what is wrong with people
>>
United Arrows have a pair of CP-esque white sneakers on sale for $38 (3800 yen) at the moment..

These are terrible quality. I bought a pair of vintage rod laver releases from ? a few months back for my brother.
They're essentially the same shoe as this, with a vintage sole and a small ribbon down the back heel. They crease like shit and look really cheap after a month or two.
If you want pictures, let me know, otherwise, this is a great price and it looks 100x better than a pair of stand smiths.
>>
>>9464094
valid points, bro, but chill. The guy wasn't right about some stuff, but his overall statement stands.
CP's won't be hurt by these, because in the end, to the average consumer, these are cheap CP's. If everyone wants to buy cheap CP's, many will be motivated to buy real CP's so they can have the better shoe.
>>
>>9464159
it has nothing to do with shoes, read

so these or kents?

or the random pair of cps on eBay for ~$200

nobody is going to mistake them for CPs but i definitely think the all white rod lavers are your best chance. a set of shoe trees or even a pair of socks stuffed in the empty shoes would probably help loads
>>
>>9463765
I have no idea why there's like a gorillion CP sour grape threads popping up these days, shit's weird
