It actually didn't need any sewing thankfully. The extra material was just attached with a single stitch so I just unpicked that (the wrapped laces cover the stitch lines). Then cut the tongue to the correct height using high-top cons as a template.

I thrift every other week when I get my paycheck, spend like $25 for some awesome pieces. Not into catalog shit. If anyone is looking for good quality authentic looking flannels, thrift is the way to go. Also, some awesome corduroys to be found. + t shirts that are one of a kind and sweaters/cardigans that smell bad
