Any one score anything great from your local thrift store recently? Post pics of your finds. Tips and info on where to find good deals are welcome too.

Goodwill is expensive.. I always try to go to St Vincents, or no-name thrift shops. Found some old hawain[sp] shirts from the 60s. My dad told me they are worth a lot if they are the real deal. Bought em for 2 bucks a piece. I have 10 of them.
>>
Consignment stores are better than thrift stores in my opinion, a little more expensive but a lot less of the bullshit. Try them out too.
>>
>>9337156
not sure if counts but found a $20 in a pocket of bookbag I bought once from a thrift shop.
>>
>>9337156
I go into thrift stores near me (wealthy northern chicago suburbs) and cop J Crizzle/RL/Brooks Bros button downs for $5-$7, then flip them on ebay. I rarely find clothes that I would wear, though

Where to thrift in Amsterdam for clothes?
Only ones I know of are Zipper and Episode but most of the time they're pretty lame

maybe some of the customers do, but almost all the people who donate clothes tend to wash them first. cigarette smell is usually there though, so I agree to a point with you on the smell.

pushing the sleeves up like that looks so dumb. it just signals to everyone that you actually stood in front of a mirror, pushed the sleeves up on your nylon bud light jacket, said "alriiiight" before telling your mom you love her and leaving for school

Im going thrifting next week for the first time

Store apparently carries some Yohiji and CDG.

Any tips?
>>
Thrifted a vintage Tiger of Sweden floral blazer, looks gangster as fuck. Had to pay only 20 yuros for it. Unfortunately couldn't find pics of it on the internet.
>>
>>9337861
Only good tip is look at everything in store, i've found some amazing things in the most unexpected places. The more time you put into thrifting the better the results will be.
>>
>>9337516
pretty cool but clean your place pal
>>
>>9337861
no Goodwill. Bargain for better prices. nothing is set in stone.some people, not me, switch tags or the little price stickers to get items cheaper,I dont agree with this, but I will try to find a bargain or bring in my own items and trade.
>>
I'm a school right now, but I've found 5 different Versace shirts, two raf simons, and some dior. Was really surprised, mostly wear them with knock off rick owens
>>
>>9338350
Also, not I found this beautiful jacket by a company called French Bazzar, I was in love with it the moment I saw it. I wish I knew what type of jacket it is, pretty sure its a women's jacket, but fuck it I wear it well.
>>
I've gotten some nice, wearable clothes. My favorite finds, thus far, came from the electronics section:

>a Yamaha DX-100 synthesizer, the de-facto bass sound of early house music, picked up for $10, labeled as "untested/speakers missing"
>a Roland TR 707 drum machine, less popular than its 808 and 909 counterparts, but still capable, labeled for $3 as "untested", found underneath an old VHS player
>an Ensoniq Mirage rackmount synthesizer, which makes beautiful analog sounds and the BEST strings/pads, labeled for $2 as "untested", found next to an old computer monitor

I found ALL of these things on the same day, at the same store. I was very lucky to have found these things. These instruments needed some internal battery replacements, and general cleaning, but they all were functional. I basically got myself a simple Detroit house setup for $15.

>>
>>9337382
That depends on the location.

The goodwill in my town is cheap as all get out, but if you cross the pond and go to the goodwill in Tacoma, the prices get steeper.

At the ghetto goodwill in South Tacoma I found white timberlands, some brand new sneakers, some crusty ass Bape sneakers, and that's about it. I think it's all the sneakerheads in the hood donating their shoes.

Brands you're likely to find at thrift stores:
Adidas
Big Mac
Pendleton
Filson
Gant
Barbour
Burberry
Polo Ralph Lauren
LL Bean
Brooks Brothers
Woolrich
Harris Tweed
Mackintosh
Levi's
Allen Edmonds
Hanover
Nettleton
Florsheim
>>

I copied that from some random mfa page but I'm sure there are more.

To be honest you'll be making less than minimum wage combing through thrift stores, and most people have caught onto the $300 urban outfitters "vintage" ruse, so I wouldn't do it except as a hobby

My area has a really nice thrift shop that gets nice stuff all the time. Actually grew up shopping at said thrift store, but now I'm willing to go once a week just to go see new prices and merchandise. Best things from were some Acne jeans, 2 Dior sweaters, and some white Vans that turns into nice beaters.

I still dont get how people find such great shit thrifting. I have a couple friends who thrift heavily and the only reason it seems fruitful for them is that they're style is very conducive to the stuff they find. Ive spent a good deal of time thrifting and only found a couple things. Ive also never seen anything nicer than 90s ysl and dior diffusion stuff, maybe cleveland and columbus are just too poor/too small
>>
>>9342961

buffalo exchange in hillcrest. I usually find something pretty good every time I go there.
>>
Any good thrift stores in Toronto?
>>
>>9344597
The mayor's closet's a good start
>>
>>9343021
Thrift stores are a reflection of their neighbourhood and the way people dress within it. The only exceptions to this are when upper middle class people give away their nice clothing to a shitty thrift store as a "Good deed". But beyond that, their modern function is closet shuffler for the neighbourhood. If you want to find nice older clothing, shop near old folks homes and areas heavy on the elderly. If you want to find middle class garb, shop in the suburbs. If you want something youthful, look towards thrift stores near universities.

If you're in a smaller city, there are usually one or two large scale operations that everyone goes too like Salvation Army, Goodwill, or Value Village. Smaller thrift stores sometimes have rare treasures, but more often that not they're just struggling. The final thing to remember is you're now competing with two groups of people. Those who sell used clothing on ebay and the clothing sorters at the Thrift Store who get first pick. You can't do anything about the latter, but you can compete against the former by showing up early and knowing sales day/merchandise restock days.
