Good choice OP, great collection and it's a real shame he's distanced himself so much from what was his best work.

These threads usually don't do too well since most people are only interested in fashion insofar as buying and purchasing fast-fashion clothes and shoes, people don't come to /fa/ for discussing collections and designers unfortunately.
>>
>>9308561
I thought the Ruby Sterling collection was a step in the right direction for Raf
>>
>>9308561
OP here, I can't really financially sustain my interest in wearable fashion, so I quite like learning about the more conceptual side.

And yeah, I can't say I'm not a little bit disappointed by how much he's deviated from his older work. I suppose his designs are a bit more relaxed now, but for me the things that got me excited about him aren't really there anymore.

>not surprising considering it's acne

I disagree.

Since its inception in 1996 when it was led by a team of no-name designers with nothing but an artistic dream, Acne has become one of the most influential fashion powerhouses in the world.

And there's a good reason for it.

The brand has always been about volumes - over-sizing and exaggerating the silhouette of the clothes, and then layering them.

Based in Sweden, the brand is naturally influenced by minimalist ideology. They've managed to reflect this in their cuts that are simple, but will still lead even the most experienced fashion veteran to take a second look.

While the distant, cold, and modern styling of their clothing may not resonate with some people, I can guarantee you that the whole fashion world has their eye on Acne.

What people have come to expect from Acne is not "weak collections", but collections full of clean, hypermodern pieces that manage to stand out without looking out of place in the wardrobe of a young urbanite who lives by the same principles that Scandinavian design is built on - simplicity, minimalism, and functionality.

Their Resort 2015 collection is also very comfy, by the way.

If it's not already obvious, you're paying for the cut, fabric, design, and of course the brand.

Open up this pic, and compare it with a different white tee in your wardrobe. Surely you'll see the difference.

You would be hard-pressed to find a tee similar to the Acne one elsewhere. I'm not saying it's superior, or better looking than a $10 Uniqlo tee; I'm just showing you how not all plain white tees are as plain as you might believe.

If you want an analogy, ask yourself:
What's the difference between a $10 wine and a $100 wine? They look the same, and they both taste like fermented grape juice.

>>
>>9312400

Well, you're not helping.
>>
>>9312245
wait, you think *i think* oversize tees are rick's design? lol, what?

the shoulder drop depends on the model and the stylist's choice for the model's size. the only difference you said so far was the stitching. that's not "plenty of differences."

its conspicuous that acne would introduce this tee shortly after rick's design. both have the normal crewneck opening. both sleeves end at the elbow. both have a more heavy fabric than the typical cotton jersey. of course others have done oversize tees before, but they usually have been with a larger neck opening, the sleeves ending earlier, and of a lighter fabric.

>>9312407

Can we agree that we're talking about an oversized shirt here? This is nothing new. If you want to say ACNE is ripping Rick, then you gotta say Rick is ripping someone else who is ripping someone else... this is not a new idea that has popped up in the last season.

Secondly, you're wrong about the shoulder drop. The sleeve on the Rick tee meets at a normal spot, the ACNE tee drops hard like an oversized tee. Secondly, there is the reverse shoulder structuring on the front of the tee.

When you are talking about a t-shirt, these are very important distinctions, otherwise everybody is just ripping off somebody else.
>>
>>9312406
what's with the influx of newtrips suddenly
>>
>>9312432

Because of where the sleeves are it allows for a slimmer cut in the body, too. These patterns would look like two totally different shirts. Although the silhouette in static shots is similar, these shirts undoubtedly move different from one another in real life considering how much more structure the rick one has.

of course its nothing new, i never contested that. and yes, i would say rick is ripping someone else. except not anyone in particular, a lot of rick's ideas from from black street wear. if i could say anything definitive about oversize tees, black guys wearing XXXXL hanes would be the beginning of the styling point.

also, you cant possibly say im wrong about the shoulder drop. it depends on the model and the stylists choice. pic is an example. if the new acne shirt were sold elsewhere we might see it on a model where it ends at the normal spot as well.

>reverse shoulder structuring

i didnt disagree with this either. did you even read my post?

you haven't added anything new to the conversation, and your reading comprehension is awful.

one difference doesn't make a world of difference. kent wang common project ripoffs don't have stitch-on soles either, but that isn't an "important distinction" that makes them somehow not ripoffs.

>>9312441
it doesnt look slimmer. look at the video on m porter. it is structured, sure, the fabric is a stiff heavyweight cotton, but it isnt slimmer. very boxy fit. that's the idea.

Sleeves are way longer, shirt is way longer, how is this the same shirt again?

Regardless, point is moot, it's an oversized shirt. Every designer does one eventually, so yeah the details do matter

>"oversized plain t-shirt"

there are many different kinds. they aren't all just "plain." pic related. its very different from the other two in this thread. i can post OTHER different kinds of oversized t-shirts if for some reason you still dont get it.

the acne and rick ones are more similar than they are different. again, conspicuous because a) acne came out with it after rick and b) acne is known to just mooch trends

>>9312539
its just a size up. like i said, it depends on the model and how the stylist wants to size the model and the clothes. any other retailer could size down the acne shirt on their model and the seam would fall on the shoulder. how are you not comprehending this point.

I get your point dude I just completely disagree, the shirts are different enough in a number of way, the shoulder width and slimmer body being a large one. The silhouette is nothing new to the industry so no, ACNE did not copy rick. Here is a represent piece that they've been doing every season. This shirt has been around awhile. All I'm saying dude is there is nothing conspicuous about it. Look around at more designers, they all make this cut at one point or another.

also, aren't rick's shirts sort of supposed to be wrung in the fashion towels are, to sort of have a rough-but-uniform spiral when worn? if anything that's something i don't see too often besides distressed denim which is never pulled off well
>>
>>9313942

That's more specifically the double-layered styles because the jersey is looped back on its and also twisted before it's secured with a stitch. All the other jerseys can twist if you make them, but they don't do it on their own like the doubled unstable cottons ones do.
