They don't look exactly like one another. There's always something that sets them apart and something to add visual interest. There's decorative trimming, different shapes and figures on the façade.
Modern architecture has none of that, it's like living in a cube. It looks cool for a while and then you get bored of it. It's literally "how to do the least work possible while selling it off as ~design~ and making dough off of it".
I live in Helsinki, in a neighbourhood designed by some schmuck who thought he was too clever for normal buildings so he plastered triangles over everything. It looks terrible.
Alvar Aalto can rot in hell. Rovaniemi, the city he designed, is the ugliest and most bland piece of grey shit on god's green earth.
Everything he touches turns to shit. Every modern building looks terrible after two years because it manages to look both bland and gaudy at the same time.
It's literally laziness.
