I grew up there, but now I go to school in the bay area. Bay area def has more stuff to do, but I still have fun when I visit home. I think it has a lot going on when compared to other towns of the same size.

Beaches (morro bay, oceano, pismo beach, grover beach, and a shit ton more all within 20 or so minutes via car), outdoorsy stuff, decent local music scene, etc. Make friends who have interesting hobbies/interests, and you won't be bored.

The Hague,

Moved from Rotterdam to The Hague. Quite a difference. First, the people. Rotterdam can be a bit scruffy at times. Most of the time really. Second, the city didn't get bombed to shite in the 2nd world war. Waking up surrounded by architecture ranging from late-medieval to 20th century moderism is quite pleasant. Also the smorgasbord of cultural things such as boutiques, small bookstores, art, musea, galleries etc. hidden in the nooks and crannies of the narrow streets is a very welcome change of scenery.

Reykjavík. I would say it's pretty /fa/shionable. Most people are conscious about fashion, some are more conscious than others. It's very modern. But there's no such thing as /fa/ fashion here. I've never heard anyone talk about Raf Simmons or techwear - this is to say about Iceland as a whole. Young people dress like a lot of people in the Nordic countries in general, I think.

Leuven.
A good mixture of the Medieval or Early Modern buildings of the inner city and the straight up Brutalism of most University buildings. Throw in some 19th century interpretations of Medieval architecture and you're set. The atmosphere is nice and calm by day but at night you'll have to ignore the overkill of drunken student antics. I like that the city is small, I can do everything on foot and most important places are centered within the inner city.
