What's your favourite Raf Simons collection?

It's a toss up for me between SS02, SS08 or SS15.

SS02 evokes such a striking and sinister atmosphere that it is difficult to not be blown away by it, with so many classic pieces coming from the collection. It was really interesting politically considering its timing. Completely changed the ideals of what was known as high fashion as Raf had been proving prior. White never looked so good.

SS08 is just so vibrant and fun, reminding me of a youthful and slick take on some kind of german backpacker image. It's all just so wearable, and that footwear is absolutely to die for.

SS15 felt like such a personal and genuine collection from Raf, especially after a few years of noticeable lack of vision from him. The images thrown across the backs of those gorgeous coats each spoke to something important or memorable from Raf's life, and the Japanese influence was profound. Combining all of this, the clothes themselves were simply beautiful, especially with the heavy emphasis on dark navy, and some of the best coats I have seen in my life. Something about this collection just felt calm, restful in a way.

Overall I would probably have to go with SS15.

Post SS15 then nugga

I would rather encourage discussion than set precedent for simple image sharing.

The last couple of collections he has put out seem very half-assed and caters primarily to hypebeasts imo.
>>
>>8902287
Honestly that's an incredibly uniformed statement. Yes he has gotten lots of attention in the last years from rap culture and everything it encompasses but that was only the sneakers and maybe the most simple easy to wear pieces.Fw14 and Ss15 were huge steps in the right direction for me. Sterling seems to have had a profound effect on Simons making him revert back to his more artistic roots,I'm so excited for their new label together. Some people really don't like fw14 and that's understandable the knits look sloppy along with some other pieces but that has always been one of my favorite things about Raf, his imperfections, his willingness to send out things that aren't perfect as long as they scream emotion. SS15 was also fantastic I really wish he hand sewn on the pictures like he used to not only the fact of the quality vs printing them but also the aesthetic and DIY look it gives off. Besides that the nautical jackets were beautiful and the work shirts were also nice. My favorite pieces were the tank tops though. Hand beaded tank tops with beautiful landscapes on them Raf hasn't put that much attention into his work in a long time and I can only thank his time designing at Dior for that. Haute Coutre is a completely different level of design and I think Raf has fallen in love with it and is trying to emulate some of the techniques of Coutre in his own work. so no I really don't think he has started to make clothing for the sole purpose of getting hypebeast's allowances.

Hypebeasts only care because of one shitty line from one shitty song

Damn man, nice arguments. They seem very well considered which is great.
>>
Virginia Creeper, I'm a sucker for american horror.
>>
>>8902873
Virginia Creeper is amazing the knits and huge coats I especially love. Really though the entire show was amazing, juxtaposition of natural flowing materials andman made fabrics along with the contrasting color schemes are just fantastic and fit so well with the theme and vision of the show.

virginia creeper silhouettes were goat, huge pants and jackets are cool as shit.

ss08 was amazing, and i liked ss13 as well as corny as it is. pastel colours are gorgeous, and the colorful suiting was really really fun

Can somebody explain what the shows like Consumed and stuff are?
I'm not new to Raf but whenever I try searching for these collections it rarely yields a result.

http://www.rafsimons.com/archive/

I'm talking about these sort of collections.
>>
>>8902241
>his imperfections, his willingness to send out things that aren't perfect as long as they scream emotion.

Do you actually believe the shit you write?
>>
>>8902958
Yea I do look at shows like fw01 there is nothing close to perfect about the pieces but thats intentional and the emotion that show gives off I love and you don't find it from many other designers.
>>8902952
Many of the early shows are pretty hard to find a lot of the pictures are online and there are a few videos up too. Otherwise you'll just have to do some digging around. You'll definitely find pictures from every show though might want to check the Sufu archives.
>>8902938
SS08 had so many grails the back packs, the de Stijl boots, the double tees it really was a nice show. SS13 definitely wasn't one of my favorites but the boyish look Raf loves so much was very prominent during that show and its a look Ive always liked from Raf. I think the sneakers from that shoe go without saying how amazing they are. I've seen a few pairs pop up on grailed but I've never had enough money at the time to cop.

I don't think he captures the emotions and culture of youth in the same way as he used to.
>>
>>8903396
Doesn't it annoy you that he used black people in aw03?
I like the ill-fitting Russian cosplay in this though.
>>
>>8902213
I personally really like s/s 98 "Black Palms"
>>

While this is true for the most part, this is to strict.
f/w10 and f/w14 were good.

Overrated/ 10

It was just shirtless guys wearing baggy trousers.
>inb4 disagreeing with me
>>
>>8903442
But s/s 2009 was good too.
>>
>>8903408
Completely agreed he has definitely lost some passion in that sense. He no longer is so fascinated with rebellion and that youth culture but I still think it's a point of inspiration in his work but not nearly to the level it used to be.

the trousers were beautiful though ;)

I know that, what's your point
>>
>>8903480
I love that jacket even though i could never pull it off
>>
>>8903441
There were some sleeveless shirts you do have to keep in mind it's a ss show so it's going to be more bear bones. Also since the inspiration behind this show was punk and metal bands I think that was captured very well and the shirtless men in only pants and shoes is much more understandable.
>>
>>8903492
sale as in discounted price
>>
>>8903483
I think he took your statement in terms of "I hope I can buy it and it's not just a showpiece" not "I hope it gets discounted" he was just making sure you knew it was on sale in a few different places.
>>
>>8903502
I've never been a huge fan of f/w03. It looks slav as fuck, and unapealing

you know this is SJWchan now right?
>>
>>8903743
Have you seen the fucking show you idiot? I'm sure you would call The Sex Pistols new beat as well same with Anarchy? Becuase those were some of the prints on the pieces. Next time know what you're talking about before you insult me you stupid cunt. The soundtrack doesn't have to be fucking death metal or hardcore punk to make the shows inspiration punk/metal.
>>
>>8903312
Is it a 'security check' jacket? I saw one being sold around here ages ago and I am kicking myself for being pleb enough to not pick it up.
>>
>>8903408
I don't really think that's what he's going for anymore though, it's unfair to critique him on a principle that he doesn't follow anymore. He's just kinda growing up, he's already said that he's felt like he has lost the teenager in himself a bit.

No, the blazer. The bungee jumper (no pun intended) is nice too.
