I have really thick hair, and it gets bushy when it gets longer so I have to texturize it when I get it cut so it doesn't just bush up. Also been doing no-poo for the last couple weeks. I style using SauVecito Firme Hold Pomade. Blowdry and brush opposite of the part for lift, then brush pomade through, add a small amount of water, comb, and roll. SauVecito is freaking awesome, holds up all day and washes out clean

I have similar hair, I use Hanz De Fuko's Claymation. You could also try their Quicksand product. Matte finish so you don't look like a greasy slob, good hold, movable and lasts all day(and into the next day, I've found) and is good with wavy hair.

Alex uses Layrite pomade (you can get deluxe hold if your hair is a cunt but you probably won't need it) along with a fine-toothed comb and had his hair cut like that originally in late-2011, before which it was quite long. His sides are very long and the top of his hair is even longer - it would probably reach down to about his mouth or chin if combed forward. You'll need to have long hair and either describe what you want to the barber or take in a picture - make sure, however, that you insist that no part of your sides is shaved; if he or she uses a shaver, the hair will on your sides will be prickly rather than smooth and won't look as good flattened and combed back.

There's pretty much no way to achieve this hair other than to have long hair and have it styled specifically from that.

Ok, I'm desperate for some advice here. I've had the nearly the same haircut for 3 years now, and I want to change things up a little bit.

I definitely like the look/feel of shorter hair, but I don't think an undercut would look good on me, so I've always had a transition from the sides to the top.

I just took these pictures right now, unshaven and I showered my hair yesterday so be warned. It also looks asymmetrical since posing alone with the camera was awkward as fuck.

My current hair has body in the front, but I suffer from many stray, wiry hairs that keep the look from looking completely clean and uniform.

I used to only style wet with product. Then, someone on this board linked to AndrewDoesHair and so I'm going to get myself a blow dryer and experiment.
However, I have a question. If I have a lot of stray, loose hairs in the front, will blow drying alone take care of them, or do I need a flat iron? I saw the use of a flat iron in the video and on his site, so I'm not really sure.

I advise against using a flat iron.

With a flat iron, you basically cook your hair into a certain shape. It's not gonna help you with stray hairs.
